  1. Also make sure you have it plugged in the "mic" hole and not the wired remote input hole
  2. I would guess mid-year like its been for the last 5+ years
  3. Mine is inside on the dash right at the bottom corner of the windshield. If you lost the metal pad, just find some small piece of scrap metal and cut it to the size you want. Tape it or velcro it to your dash and then stick the antenna on top of it
  4. For best results, your GPS antenna needs to be mounted on something metallic (ie the metal pad it comes with, or a metal bar/support) and there should not be any metal or extremely thick plastic blocking its line-of-sight to the sky
  5. Green parking brake wire goes to ground (black)
  6. There was a Youtube video of some dude cutting it away if you choose to go that route. I had no problems getting it out using a mini flathead screwdriver to pry up the plastic strip and then a staple to get the pin out
  7. That doesn't mean Pioneer sold it to them. Amazon often buys stuff from distributors and grey market companies to offer the best price. You never know where stuff comes from when its purchased off the internet. Lots of companies buy refurbished units, remove the stickers, and try to sell them as new. And as for your lack of experience buying stuff from distrubitors, that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. A majority of Pioneer's business is done through them. They direct ship a VERY small amount of products straight to retailers
  8. To the original poster: If you just bought it and received it "last week," there is no reason to involve Pioneer. They just repair decks under warranty anyway, not send out new ones. Call or email the place you bought it from and make them replace it. If they give you grief, contest the purchase with paypal or your credit card company and then buy it from an authorized dealer instead
  9. And if you find an error, report it to TeleAtlas, or it may never get fixed because they may not know about it. http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com/mapfeedback/index.php
  10. Ya, as mentioned before, difference look like music sphere, eco-crap, and a completely new a/v interface that includes Pandora (to match the x920.) Passed upgrades were pretty minor...for some it was just a nav update and xm upgrade. Others were just better ipod interface and more POI. etc
  11. That huge building is actually a warehouse in the ghetto where they ship products to all of us dealers. And most of the 'USA trained' people were laid off over the last two years. Its much more of a japanese run company than you will ever know, or probably admit based on your comments
  12. The Z1,2, and 3 were all the same hardware with a different disk. So were the D1/2. So were the N2/3 and then so were the N4/5. There is a theme here
  13. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... 10BT?tab=C CDIU50V
  14. Smaller. Im thinking 14, 16, or 18
  15. Its the same connector. I tried it with my F90 and it didn't make any difference. Not sure if the Z would have any different software or chipset to allow the dual mic to help
  16. The pioneer ipod interface has always been better in the past. Doubt the 9960 changes that
  17. Not any time soon. The increase in resolution would barely be visible and the costs would go up
  18. I think the ala carte only works with the Starmate 5. So you would need that, the sirius dock, and the adaptor that goes from the dock to the Pioneer deck
  19. Of the few Pioneer reps we have had in the past that actually knew their shit (all of whom have been laid off in the last two years) all openly admitted to me that they read this site religiously, but said their management team did not like them posting on an open forum that handed out information that could easily get them sued. They also weren't shy about saying whatever information they got from dealers usually went to some moron sitting in Long Beach that would NEVER bother to report it to Japan unless it would get him recognized for making a suggestion. So the guys in Japan don't drive
  20. 920s are just now starting to show up. Not sure on the 120...probably a couple months
  21. Kenwood always seems better, all the way back to the flip out KVT days. Then you use it and are disappointed. Its frustrating that nobody can come up with something to challenge Pioneer's engineers to put out an even better product, but until someone does I am sticking with Pioneer
  22. The ipod cable plugs into the USB extension. Sirius works best outside the car. It doesn't matter much for the GPS antenna, but it works best when stuck to something metal There are no upgrades/updates yet. You should be able to buy the next one off Pioneers site in a few months
  23. If you have an extra harness with the same size pins, just use one of those wires with the pin already attached and make sure it seats properly in the hole
