  1. Odd, I believe mine attenuates avery source I have. iPod, xm, hd radio, normal FM when I used it, and CD/USB/SD. I'll have to try mine again and see if it does.
  2. Just put the tuner under the passenger seat where the stock sat radio tuner was located. There is even power and such you can tap into there. Its really easy to do, what took me the longest in my rabbit was running the IP-Bus cable behind the glove compartment down the kick panel and under the carpet to the tuner.
  3. You could try using att instead of mute for the route guidance, it helps a little bit. Turn your AV source to off then settings>av settings>should be the box in the lower left that says ATT/Mute. Select that button. If its greyed out that means you didnt switch your av source to off.
  4. READ THE MANUAL before asking questions and high jacking a thread; it states exactly what to do to transfer the phone book in this manner.
  5. Now the real question is when will pioneer come out with a dual tuner and will they update the F series to be able to use it as something other than an external device....
  6. Already done. Goto the source menu switch to "off". Hit menu button>settings>av settings>Lower left button says something about ATT/mute. That button is the toggle between mute and att for nav directions but it can only be changed when the av source is switched off.
  7. It didn't with my wifes "fatty" nano. I believe its because itunes scales down the artwork for the older nano's screen size when transferring the songs.
  8. XM Radio has changed the names of a few of their stations and now my F700 will not display a picture for these stations. I believe I have found the file that governs what picture is displayed for a particular station but have not found a program to read it. The file is flashdisk/data/xm/xmdat/IMAGETBL.DAT I tried to edit it using a text editor but the unit won't show any pictures afterward. I assume this file is of a different filetype (possibly SQLite?) If anyone could shed light on this it may open the door to adding custom images.
  9. I wish mine was a barking dog... All the American version uses is a really quiet repeating beep
  10. Check to see if your model of car has an antenna amplifier
  11. If you're having issues with AM reception with an antenna amp my other thread may help you out. I had a similar problem with my '08 VW Rabbit and found a solution that doesn't involve a second antenna. http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18361
  12. After installing my F700 in my Rabbit I would get zero AM stations and have problems with some weaker FM stations. When I installed I used the amplified antenna adapter from Metra 40-EU55 prescribed from VWVortex for my car. Without this adapter AM reception is non existant. After hours of troubleshooting, reading through VWVortex.com, and looking through the Bentley manual for these cars I figured out what the problem was. First I thought it had something to do with the diversity antenna system the '08 Rabbit uses (2 in-glass and 1 mast antenna) that has two antenna leads behind the radio
  13. They do actually have a few different kinds. Looking through the file some of cameras are labeled mobile and school zone. So the type of camera seems to be right just inconsistent speed data and no direction.
  14. Now if the stupid warning sounds volume would adjust with speed everything would work fine
  15. Yes for the $5 they give you one month of updates for their redlight cams and speed cams. But the speed cams will be ridiculously more difficult to put into this spreadsheet since this is what they look like. -82.6492,36.5471,"Speed Camera 55 MPH .024zp","TN Mount Carmel poi-factory Sep10 08" -90.0757,29.9508,"Speed Camera .024zj","LA New Orleans poi-factory Sep10 08" They don't give a direction at all, some don't have speed data. Basically POI Factories speed camera's are not very good. Not a big deal though since there are not very many of them (236) If someone could find a goo
  16. 1. The quote below will tell how to enable the warning for cameras. Since the free database of speedcams quoted above seems to be of questionable quality the logical solution is to get the database somewhere else. The problem with this is the other databases (like the one I use in this example from poifactory.com) are in .csv format which is nothing like the format iGo likes. After two days of searching I finally found a way to convert this filetype to something iGo does like, a .spud... hehe potato 2. Anyway... First thing to do is have a semi-recent version of Excel and grab t
  17. 1. Create a folder called "audio" inside IGO8 folder 2. Put a wav file of your choice called !alert5.wav inside that folder 3. This wav will be used the new warning sound

    map colors

http://www.navguide.net/igomiofan/color-maps/create-your-own-color-scheme/ They have a tutorial on how to change map colors.
  19. All you should have to do is replace alert5 with a voice file with the delay of TTS, even if making it speak a warning was feasible, would make it useless
  20. Figured out any way to convert the .kml documents into something usable?
  21. The camera file has at least one error so far... it says there is a camera right by my house which there is not. Also, it lists every camera as a speed camera and not a red light.
  22. CRC was used in the past for data transmission (Usually the methods used in communications are much more complex than CRC and sometimes will involve a combo of horizontal and vertical redundancy checks along with CRC), but it is also used a lot to check the integrity of a file. Example: Automatic error recovery. Your computers operating system tries to start up and fails. Next startup it runs a CRC check on all important files and finds one that does not match the correct CRC. Next, the operating system replaces the bad file with a known good copy. Voila the system will now start up.
  23. Cyclic Redundancy Check.... The simple version: does a math problem on the bits that make up a file and come out with a 32 bit result. If you change something in the file it changes that output result. If its different than expected the unit may think its corrupted and not boot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclic_redundancy_check

    Brazil Maps

If you want some maps for brazil go here http://www.gpsunderground.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=4 and post the question. They may also be able to help you with the installation. iGo version 8 is what these Pioneer units use, seems to be very "hackable"
  25. That would probably work because on the gps status page is says 1 mile 200 ft for example. I asked this question on gps passion as well so someone there with more experience with iGo might be able to shed light on this.
