I upgraded my Z1 to a Z2 and instead of unlocking my 20GB stock drive, I bought that 40GB Toshiba drive from NewEgg and it's worked fine for the last 9 months or something.

It would be ideal to post this to Usenet News Servers. From there nearly anyone can pull the data down. Last year someone posted the Z2 update image to alt.binaries.temp (I think it was) and I grabbed the entire thing at like 4-5MB/Second.

Who the hell knows when they will release the update. They released the Z2 and it took forever for them to do the Z1 -> Z2 update disc. What will be tough for me is that I have the z2 .iso image on my HD and I never paid for it. I am not sure how that'll work if/when the Z3 comes out.

After I did that reset as stated before by another, it cleared it up. I didn't do the restore to factory defaults, but just reset. I kept all my custom POI and such, but lost all my other settings. No longer does the Z2 attempt to pair with my phone anymore.

Ok.. makes sense. Yeah the 5 device thing didn't seem to fly too well. I changed my phone name from "AgroPhone" to "AgroPhone2" and yet it still prompted me for the Z2 pass on my phone, like it was paired to it or something, even though it was deleted. I will try this tomorrow when I start my car before work. If that doesn't fix it, I'll try the BB re-load. Results to come.

Yes I removed it. If I go to the Pearl menu, it only shows the Motorola headset. I tried re-pairing (which worked), then removing. Same problem arises. So maybe I should download the latest BB Handheld software and just blow my BB away clean. It's synchronized on our Blackberry Enterprise Server, so I won't lose much really... If I still get this issue afterwards, well damn. Hmm... I'll try it tomorrow and let yall know.

I posted this before with no response from anyone. Here's the problem: I paired my BB Pearl 8100 w/ my Z2 a while ago. I have since bought a BT headset and don't want to use my Z2 (and I don't feel like taking it apart to disconnect the BT module). I removed the "AVIC Z2 HDD NAV" device from my phone's BT menu. When I make calls I get prompted on my Blackberry "Please enter the password for AVIC Z2 HDD NAV" and it causes my calls to crackle. How the hell can I stop the Z2 from trying to pair with my phone? A long time ago I paired my Z2 with my Blackberry 8100. Everything worked fine, except I wasn't too happy with the quality of the audio or how I sounded to others. So I recently acquired a bluetooth headset which I paired with my phone with no problems. The problems started as soon as I entered my car. On my phone it would keep asking me for the password to "PIONEER AVIC NAV". I don't want my phone connecting to the Pioneer anymore. So I removed the Pioneer AVIC NAV from my blackberry bluetooth screen. The problem persisted. I then changed the name of my phone to something else yet the

So I have the spare 30GB drive out of my Z1 I want to use in my laptop. I didn't have to go through the whole unlocking deal when I upgraded to the Z2 (and went to a 60GB) but now when I put the drive in my laptop it asks for a PRI password. Is there any way I can somehow blow the whole damn thing away and use it in my laptop without paying the assload of $$$ to unlock it? Maybe boot from some other medium and low-level format it? I have no idea how locking of HDD's work so maybe this isn't a possibility. So if I have to unlock it, whats the cheapest possible way?

Problem solved after re-loading the Blackberry handheld software on my Perl 8100. I didn't keep the settings, complete purge. But yeah perfect now.

I wonder if the Jetta is similar to the Audi A4. I didn't have the speed pulse behind the cluster, but instead I had to tap in to the ABS wire which is right down by the fuse box.

I think I will COMPLETELY reset the Z2 to factory. 100% AND I think I will flow away my Blackberry and re-load the latest handheld software. We'll see.

The number doesn't have to be the speed in MPH, but it should be a linear correlation. If you are going 14 mph and the VSS line says 28 (for instance) when you go 40 mph, it should say about 80. Or whatever. I have seen cars with VSS numbers in the 1000's. Some are close to MPH some are just double it. Depends on lots of factors. But the number should track the mph, the faster you go the higher you go and you can test 2 numbers, one at 20 mph and one at 40 mph and the VSS should be roughly 2x. You're correct. Lately I have noticed that my Blackberry Pearl 8100 keeps connecting and then disconnecting over and over to my Z2. The phone is in my lap or in my pocket and the BT module is mounted under the steering wheel under the plastic plate, so literally maybe 18" max away. Whats the deal?

Okay so since I am getting some numbers being displayed the faster i go, it must be working I hooked up my volt meter before I hooked it up to the nav and I could see the "V" go up the faster I went Thanks.a

So I had to tap in to my ABS speed sensor wire (per this doc: http://www.nav-plus.com/instructions/a4b6abs.html). After hooking it up and viewing the hardware info screen's "Speed Sensor" setting, I see that when I put around in 1st gear (my speedo reads like 10 to 15mph max) the menu shows 22-28. Does that number have to correspond to MPH? I haven't taken my car out of the garage (underground parking) to let it hit the GPS. Thoughts?

It's amazing that you would ask that question when almost every single thread relating to the firmware update mentions exactly what it is for. Z1/Z2 lockup (wont get past initial splash screen) to limited number of units that are in higher heat areas.

This issue has been reported before. The D3 cannot utilize the same functions as the Z1/Z2. You cannot do a POI search and then sort by "Dist" or "A-Z". I.e. You search for "McDonald's Restaurant" and you see 4,000. When you select the list, you have no idea where the closest one is to you. You have to go to "Vicinity Search" and then choose restaurant chains, and find it there. If it isn't close and/or it isn't listed, then you are kind of up shit creek. You COULD specify the City, but it really sucks. I think this is on Pioneer's list of things to address for you D3 people.

I bought mine off eBay, I think I paid $135 for new. It was indeed new in the box when I got it. Mint, no problems.

What I have experienced with Pioneer is that you call in one day and one tech tells you one thing, call in another day and the next tech has no idea what you're talking about. I would be delightfully surprised to see any firmware fix for this issue (ever), and if we do see it, that it would be released anytime in the near future.

Do you need the ADT-VA133 if all you need is that plastic ring so it fits in to the Metra? Well I dont know exactly.... I have custom brackets for my Z1. It's secured and installed already. I have a custom face plate, which I think I want to ditch. If the Metra kit would fit perfectly around the Z1 I would be fine as I am sure I could find way to secure the bezel. But it seems I need that extra plastic piece to make it fit all flush. Yes you need it, it secures the Pioneer to the dash. If not it just sits in the dash opening. I drove around like that for a week, not cool.
