  1. Eventually you wont have the option to buy a 920. If you currently have a 920 it wouldnt make sense to buy a 930 but for everyone else they wont have that option. an no, the specs sheet isnt wrong. it has been confirmed from a variety of sources.
  2. Have you tried testing with a different phone? with bluetooth, its always possible that the issue lies with the phone rather than the bluetooth unit. give it a shot to help you norrow down the possibilities.
  3. There isnt really anything you can do from a software standpoint to fix the GPS signal. The GPS antenna may need to be relocated to a different part of the car (on top of the dash by the windshield is optimal). frequently people try to put the GPS antenna under the dash to keep it out of sight for aesthetic reasons but sometimes this can severely hinder the antenna's ability to communicate with the satellites. not always, but enough to make it worth considering this as the potential problem. antenna may need to be checked to make sure it is securely plugged into the back of the radio
  4. Granted, the Z still has voice commands but now you could say the X is actually behind Kenwood because even their low-end navs have voice tagging capability for bluetooth.
  5. Thats exactly what I was thinking. They must be planning on keeping the 920 separate and releasing updates for the 920 and 930 individually. no way they are going to force people to give up that feature.
  6. On Pioneer's website for the upcoming X930, the specifications list has no check marks next to all of the voice command functions indicating that the new model will actually not have this capability. Is this true or just a mistake on the website? http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/GPS-Navigation/AVIC-X930BT
  7. What do you want to find out from Tele Atlas? http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com/mapfeedback/index.php It looks like TomTom has made the original teleatlas site difficult to use. the takeover must have been recent. it was simple a few months ago.
  8. You can have up to 5 phones PAIRED to the system which means you can have 5 phones stored into the system's memory for choosing different phones. however you can only have 1 phone CONNECTED to the bluetooth at any given time. if two PAIRED phones are in the car at the same time it will automatically connect to the last phone is was connected to.
  9. X710 and X910 have key beeps ON/OFF under settings. no need for a mod on these.
  10. I didnt realize this was a stated feature of the unit. The way most units tend to work is that they automatically conntact to the last phone it was connected to. if that phone isnt present then it doesnt connect to anything at all and another phone has to be selected manually. for example, you are in the car by yourself and you get home, turn off the car and go inside. 15 mins later you and your wife come back out the car and turn it on, it will automatically connect to your phone since it was the last phone it was connected to. if you phone is not present it will not connect to anything a
  11. To do this on most phones all you do it click the OPTIONS or SETTINGS key (while on an active call) and select "Send Audio to Phone" or "Transfer to Handset" or something similar
  12. Have you added any contacts to your phone recently? If you have any contacts in your phonebook that contain anything that isnt a letter or a number, that can cause the VR not to recognize any contacts by name. For example, if you have a contact in your phonebook called "John & Mary", change it to "John and Mary". if you have a contact called "Bob (mechanic)" change it to "Bob mechanic". if you have a contact called "Benjarvus Green-Ellis" change it to "Benjarvus Green Ellis". "Dr. Brown" needs to be "Dr Brown". "Mike O'Neill" needs to be "Mike ONeill". any characters that are not lette
  13. This is normal. I suppose the logic is that you want to see the map even when on a phone call in case you have a route planned so that you dont miss a turn.
  14. I have this problem with my X910 as well. It started off happening every now and then but now its all the time. unplugging the ipod or USB cable and re-plugging solves the problem but only for a short while. its to the point now where unplugging it only fixes the problem for a few seoconds. this is not an uncommon problem and it seems to be the result of a bad ipod cable. i have not replaced mine yet but this is most lilely the solution.
  15. Page 104: -Press SRC/OFF and hold until the audio source turns off. -Press the center of MULTI-CONTROL and hold until the initial setting screen appears in the display. -Turn MULTI-CONTROL to select “RGB Illuminationâ€. -Press MULTI-CONTROL left or right to select the desired color.
  16. I do not have U310 so I am not sure of the exact steps but there is a way to do it. It is done from the main settings menu. I forget exactly how you access it but I believe you turn off the radio source then hold down a particular button. From there you use the knob to scroll down to the LED/illumination settings. take a quick look at your manual and you should find out how to access the settings menu. from there it is pretty self explanatory.
  17. Just to confirm what you've already figured out...unfortunately the F series navs and the X710 and X910 do not have the ability to activate thr VR from the steering wheel controls. However, the X920 and the Z120 can i believe.
  18. There is no way to change that. I seems to default to the largest city in each state/province. I know here in the DC area is always shows Baltimore for Maryland and Richmond for Virginia. I agree with you though, I liked it the other way.
  19. Are you sure this just isnt a case of AUX1 needing to be switched to 'iPod' in AV settings?
  20. It syncs each time your phone connects unless (i think) you choose to transfer your contacts by sending business cards or name cards. i do not believe the iphone has this ability. fyi, the X710 and X910 do store your contacts to the memory.
  21. Do you by any chance have the languages changed to something other than ENGLISH? if you change the program language to SPANISH or FRENCH it disables the VR feature.
  22. After commenting on this post a year ago I now find myself with the same problem. I updated my X910 to the 3.0102 firmware last week and ever since then it will not save my custom illumicolor settings. if i create a custom color and save it to memory 1 2 or 3, it will hold it for the timebeing but will revert back to "SCAN" when the car is powered down. however, if i choose one of the pre-set colors like RED, BLUE, GREEN...etc... it will keep that color forever as it should. nothing changed except for the 3.0102 update. i am not losing any other info associated with a loss of power (i.e. r
  23. It did not fix the issue because apparently Pioneer did this on purpose. but the 2.003 update did make it less of a problem because they made it so the unit tells you that you need to press the OK button before you can use VR.
  24. I am now having this same problem with my X910 after I upgraded from v 3.0101 to v 3.0201
