  1. I had version 3.0101 when I attempted this. I just upgraded to the newest 3.0102 the other day so I will give it another shot to see if anything changes.
  2. There is something wrong with your unit. It should not happen at all let alone with multiple phones. exchange your unit. mine works fine with my DroidX, worked fine with my blackberry curve, works fine with my LG en-v3, and works fine with every phone my customers have had. (we sell mobile electronics)
  3. Also, for anyone researching how these phones work with these units - I am able to transfer my phonebook to the X910 and able to do everything that comes along with that. however, the contact name does not appear when a phone call is received. it only shows the phone number even if that phone number/contact is listed in your phonebook. i havent played around with it yet to find a solution but wanted to put that out there.
  4. When i plug my DroidX into the USB port my X910BT nothing happens. The DroidX begins to charge but the navi does not recognize it as a USB device. On my boss's Z120BT the Droid also begins to charge but the navi says "Cannot use USB memory on this device" or something along those lines. End result is the same - you cant use it - but the Z actually recognizes that something is plugged in. At one point the Z gave a different warning and actually forced a shutdown of the USB drive and the Droid would not even charge. navi had to be restarted for the USB drive to be reinitiated. This only
  5. I will be getting a Droid X within the next week or so. I will test to see if the USB will transfer audio control to the unit. I am assuming that if it works it will work like a USB thumb drive or SD card. I doubt it will be similar to ipod fuctionality.
  6. Have you checked to see if you already have the lastest version? If you are up-to-date the update will not do anything. Also, make sure you only have 1 folder called "AVICZ110". If you have an AVICZ110 folder with another AVICZ110 folder beneath it, put just the lowest 1 (the one with the APL, BOOT, FONTS, PLATFORM folders in it) on the SD card. if that doesnt work try copying just the files in the AVICZ110 folder to the SD card without the AVICZ110 folder itself.
  7. That would make the most sense. But it seems to be hit or miss the the new iPhones and iPhones running OS4. I dont know why they work with some bluetooths and not with others...in the entire industry, not just within the Pioneer lineup.
  8. The problem is that OS4 didnt exist when they were developing these units. Its not really the iPhones so much as it is OS4.
  9. im not sure I understand the question but in short, bluetooth is not 100% standard from company to company and phone to phone. its a type of wireless technology but the software used to utilize this technology can affect how it performs. further, there are multiple bluetooth profiles or categories that accomplish different things like making phone calls, transferring address books, streaming music...etc... just because a phone has bluetooth doesn mean it does everything the same way every other bluetooth phone does. likewise, just because a nav has bluetooth doesnt mean it can do or will do ev
  10. You have to remember that the unit was likely purchased weeks ago and has been out of Pioneer's hands for a while. It has probably been on a distributor's shelf and then the retailer's shelf for at least a couple of weeks and will likely NOT have this new update on it since it was just released. There is a chance it will but I don't think its probable. If it turns out that you do need to do the update, use a clean SD card.
  11. I've not been thinking of going that direction since the iphone 4 did just fine on the F700, and it's been crap on the x920 in comparison. Silly me, I'm down to a single phone also, I just swapped jobs and don't have my work BlackBerry I used to use to test with. BT connectivity is a big problem with A LOT of OS4 users. Do a quick google search. "It worked on the other unit" probably isnt a good arguement for not giving it a shot. Your other unit was exactly that...another unit. it is different and different things work differently.
  12. The F700, F900, F90, X710, and X910 have different software and have their own specific updates. This one does not apply to them.
  13. U.S. law requires the prompt. I was going to respond with: U.S. law requires the prompt for navigation, but it does not require the user agree to the prompt before using voice commands".... Then occureed to me that Pioneer has to do this because if the user enters an address via VR without first viewing the prompt and hitting "OK", they are essentially circumventing the prompt and its purpose. They need to make sure you agree to the disclaimer before you enter a destination of any kind, whether it be by voice or by manual entry. At least thats my reasoning for it. Some of you may
  14. So, I just installed the update on my boss' car. He has a Z110 upgraded to a Z120 with the CNSD-110FM Upgrade. I cannot say for sure if this fixes the problems addressed in this thread since I do not own a Z and have not experienced these issues first hand but this is what i noticed... When the unit boots up and the radio is the first thing you see, if you press the Voice Recognition button it will say "VR not active. Please go to Map screen and press OK to activate". So as Blue said previously, this "problem" seems to be by design but at least they made it more apparent this time.
  15. Pioneer has posted an important firmware update for the AVIC-X920BT and AVIC-Z120BT. This will also work with the AVIC-Z110BT navigation system, that has been upgraded with the CNSD-110FM Upgrade Package.. This firmware update (version 2.003) contains important improvements addressing Bluetooth and voice recognition operations. Please notify you existing customers of this update, and be sure to address your current inventory. Follow the links below to begin the updating process. 17. Yeah, you're right. That customer had the Motorola Droid, not the iPhone. My mistake.
  18. I believe the Z automatically transferrs your CONTACTS and not your FAVORITES. i do not have an iphone but we had a customer a few weeks ago that had most of his numbers stored as FAVORITES and only 3 numbers stored as CONTACTS. those 3 CONTACTS transferred fine but the others did not get pulled over. Just throwing that out there in case that is your situation as well.
  19. Only suggestion I have is to make sure the GPS antenna is out in the open, sitting on a metal pad and not under the dash.
  20. Even if you are able to get behind it to clean it up, you will more than liklely have to break some warranty seals which will void your warranty with pioneer if something else happens down the road. I'd only risk taking it apart yourself when your warranty is just about to expire anyway.
  21. But calling a contact with VR wont work unless the contact has been transferred to the Z, right? I know thats how it is for the F and X series.
  22. So this is what we found with the customer's Droid: It automatically transferred his contacts upon connection to the Z. It took a few minutes but eventually the Contacts icon lit up. However, the problem is that almost all of his phone numbers are saved as "Favorites" and he only actually has 3 people saved as "Contacts". So it tranferred those 3 contacts with no problem but we could not figure out how to manually send the "Favorites" to the unit via name card or business card. We went through every menu on the phone to see if there was a way to send name card or send contact via bluet
  23. Yeah I just wanted to get a bit more input. I dont personally have a Droid but I have a customer who wants to know this for sure before he commits to buying the Z. Whether its automatic or manual doesnt really make a difference. he just wants to be 100% sure that he can tranfers his contacts without problems.
  24. So getting back to the original question.... Are there issues transferring contacts from the Droid to the Z? Can it do it automatically or do the contacts have to be transferred manually?
  25. Really the only differences is that the 900 can play CDs and DVDs whereas the 700 can only play CDs and the 900 comes with MSN Direct which gives you the ability to subscribe to MSN traffic, weather, gas prices and other services.
