  1. You have some kind of documentation on this? no documentation. just going by what someone inside pioneer told me last year. the VR only needs to update whenever you make changes to your ipod (ie add songs or remove songs). however, the unit WILL automatically update the VR catalog every single time the car is turned on unless you go to AV SETTINGS and turn VR CATALOG MODE to "OFF". The best way to do it is to turn it ON to start, let it update, then turn it OFF until next time you make changes to your ipod. at that point turn it back on, let it catalog once, then leave it off unt
  2. If you go into the navigation settings and click on the map info icon it will show you the company thats provides the data and data version for the maps of each state.
  3. I had the same thing happen to me on and off for a few weeks but it has since gone away. I think the problem lies with the ipod cable. I found that unplugging the ipod and plugging it back in temporarily fixed the problem.
  4. The F-series had defective flash drives so I am pretty sure the that was changed with the X-series. The F-series was actually developed by an outside 3rd party whereas the X-series was done completely by Pioneer because of the F-series debacle. It would make sense if more things were changed but I was only told about the flash memory.

    Missing beep!

i just realized that you have a Z whereas I have an X. I cannot say for sure that this is your problem but this definitely is the case on the X-series.

    Missing beep!

You probably have the touch screen "beeps" turned off which unfortunately also disaples the voice command beep. If you turn the other tones back on it will re-enable the voice command chime. i weighed the options and decided it was better to have the tones turned off and just look at the screen to know when its okay to talk.
  7. Its true that not everyone has problems with the F-series but I work for an electronics shop that installed dozens and dozens of F-series navs. we probably had a 50-75% failure rate on them. I personally had an F700 in my car that worked for 6 months then died, then I had an F900 that worked for 1 month then died. We didnt sell the F90, but It seems like the F90 may have had a better track record than the F700, F7010, and F900 so you may get lucky but as a I said before, I wouldnt risk it.
  8. I recommend that you stay away from that unit. It will almost certainly go bad on you. You should be able to find an X710 or X910 for around the same price and those have a much better track record.
  9. The X series does not have a CD changer input like the D-series used to. Unless someone knows of a tricky way to make it work I would say it is not going to be possible.
  10. I know my friend's factory nav in his 2009 CRV is the same way. Even if he ignores it and gets onto 66 it will try to re-route him until it finally give up and actually terminates the route. My X910 uses 66 just fine. I cant say for sure whether it obeys the time restrictions or not but i know it definitely tells me to take 66 on a regular basis (inside the beltway)
  11. besides checking different antenna locations also be sure to check the antenna and antenna wiring itself. its possible the wire is damaged or pinched somewhere behind the dash. also check to make sure it is secure on the back of the radio. there is always a possibility that the antenna will look find but can still be "bad" which would require getting a new antenna. with so many X910s out there and since this is the first time ive heard this i would bet it is not a sofrware issue but instead a hardware issue particular to your setup.
  12. I was thinking about it from dawgbone's point of view. If he remote starts his car and the BT fully loads before he gets into the car obviously his phone is going to automatically connect when he is within range before he can get in to hit the OK button. Instead of turning the car off and back on again, i wonder if manually disconnecting the bluetooth then reconnecting would essentially do the same thing.
  13. What happens if you manually disconnect then reconnect your phone after you return to your truck? (either hitting "OK" before you disconnect and reconnect or disconnecthing THEN hitting "OK" and then reconnecting)
  14. Is it possible that the problem may lie in what cars the unit is install into and how the wires are run? since all other logical solutions dont seem to have consistant results im thinking perhaps the actual wiring for the mic is receiving electrical interference from other nearby wires in the car. maybe wrap the entire mic cable in electrical tape to shield it? im not a technician so it may not be a realistic possibility but i thought i'd throw that out there just in case.
  15. People with an X710 or X910 may have noticed that the navi tends to give way too many voice prompts when navigating an entered route. for example for just one simple maneuver she will say... "in half mile enter 495 north bound"... "in quarter mile enter 495 north bound"... "in 500 ft enter 495 north bound"... "in 200 ft enter 496 north bound"... "enter 495 north bound"... She gives 5 commands when 2 or 3 would be just fine. For most people its just kind of annoying but they learn to live with it. But I have a customer who actually wants to get rid of her nav because of this. she ma
  16. Your curve should work just fine with the 910. Was model curve do you have? 8330? 8530? I have an 8330 and it works fine. Some little snags here and there but overall it works. What are you having trouble with?
  17. It sounds like it may have just been a slight lag in adjusting your location. It assumes you are following the planned route until the GPS tells it otherwise. when you passed that left turn and continued straight another 300ft it likely thought you had turned left and then continued on 300ft to your house. if your destination hadnt been so close it probably would have realized you didnt turn and recalculated the route. it shouldnt be a regular occurrence. normally it shouldnt take but a moment to recognize the true location of your vehicle but if it does this more frequently you may want t
  18. you can still navigate while you talk. there just wont be an audible command that will interrupt your phone call. as far as i know no nav systems with built-in bluetooth will do this. everyone is different but im surprised this would be a deal breaker for you.
  19. I have not heard of the issue but the first thing that comes to mind is perhaps the unit is overheating and shutting down on purpose. just trying to help you brainstorm.
  20. It is possbible the adapter has a volume adjustment on the unit itself
  21. Yes the X series is much better than the F. Basically, the X is what the F was supposed to have been. All the features are the same but it just works much better. Eclipse no longer makes aftermarket navs so even if you find someone selling them I wouldn't recommend them. The 726E wasnt that great anyway. Kenwoods are fine but are more expensive and probably not worth paying the extra money. Of all the Pioneers I would recommend the X920. Its can be thought of as the next generation of the F/X series. It is very comparible to the Z110BT but actually has newer software for the moment
  22. If you go into the same settings menu i mentioned above and have smartzoon ON there should be a little wrench icon next to it. click the wrench icon to enter the smartzoom settings. you are able to adjust how far it zooms out. i have not played around with this myself but it should allow you to do what you're asking.
  23. I also agree that not having more street names labled is a downside. It is a useful feature to have in many different circumstances. its something you can live without but if i'd definitely prefer to have them.
  24. this seems to be a pretty common complaint with iphones. one suggestion i have read is to take the (1) out from in front of your numbers. so if it is saved as 1-703-555-1234 save it as 703-555-1234 or just 7035551234 in case the dashes make a difference.
