  1. I just installed my CNSD-210FM 2011 map and GUI update on my Avic X920BT and it recognized my ND-TMC10 traffic tuner and I can see traffic data now so this is confirmed. I'll post if I see any issues. FYI the map update also comes with Bluetooth firmware 3.22 which is installed separately from the map/ GUI update. The install requires you to enter your device ID from your service info page along with the enclosed media key (ala windows activation) and returns a password (hex) to activate the installer on the radio. -Keith
  2. I'm not sure how it comes into play but according to the website the sd card comes with some sort of serial number which you have to enter on their website in order to activate the map update. I'm guessing it probably returns some sort of activation key that you have to enter into the radio in order for the update to install maybe? I'll know tomorrow since my upgrade will be arriving then according to the tracking #. -Keith
  3. Well for those with a x920 I'd advise not connecting the new traffic tuner to it until you obtain and install the firmware update. I installed the new tuner in anticipation of getting my firmware update next week and I keep getting popups telling me there is a problem with the tuner and to reboot the system. Hopefully that'll go away once the firmware update is applied. -Keith
  4. Sorry I meant app mode not app radio. -Keith
  5. Does anyone know if the update adds app radio to the x920?
  6. Ahh nevermind.. The map updates.. I see the "Ships in September" statement is gone, looks like it's available now. Just placed my order. I guess I'll put my traffic tuner in this weekend. Too bad we can't just download the update. -Keith
  7. Are you using an x920 or x930?
  8. I've had this issues for a while, it dates back to my Avic-N3 and continues with my X920BT. If I turn the radio on and listen to XM right away I have no problem whatsoever, I can drive for 8 hours and not have any issues. However, if I listen to my iPod for a long time and decide to switch to XM it'll act as if there's no reception and there will be dead silence and no pad data disaplyed (or old cached pad data). When I had my N3 I could get around this by removing the faceplate of the radio and putting it back in to 'reset' everything and then it would work fine. Since there's no way to do th
  9. I bought the tuner for my x920BT from Amazon and received it within 2 days, I haven't bothered to put it in yet since I figured it wouldn't do anything for me until the firmware update is out. I'm assuming current x920bt firmware wouldn't know how to use that adapter for anything whatsoever right? -Keith
  10. I decided to call Pioneer and ask them what the deal was, what they said is that they did in fact remove the reference to the traffic tuner since the x920bt isn't licensed to be used with it. The rep said "From what we were told it will probably work but you may run into problems". He also gave me something to try for my crappy voice response problem, if it works I'll post the steps. -Keith
  11. Well I can tell you don't bother with the cheap cameras on EBay, as VBLUE predicted the one I bought died within 3 months like clockwork. Best Buy has a "high definition" wired cam from Audioox for $79, the sales guy told me that they must have just lowered it since it was $119 the other day and this was a regular price not sale price. I bought it, hooked it up, and it's pretty decent. It has a fish-eye thing going on though which I'm not a fan of, but I'm guessing that's so you can get the wide angle view. -Keith
  12. Ahhh.. I wonder if they made a mistake and corrected it.. I would have thought that would be hardware dependent and couldn't be done, though it would be nice if it could be -Keith
  13. Awesome, thou I'm confused. It's probably in front of my face but where do you see any reference to it working with a traffic tuner? I assume you mean that the x920 upgrade will allow it to work with the new traffic tuner for the x930 right? If so, where do you see that? Thanks, -Keith
  14. Hey everyone, I'm curious if anyone has tried out the JVC KW-NT50HDT at all and has any opinions on it vs. the AvicX920BT? I've only had the 920 since about last October I think... and it is driving me crazy... The touch-screen is way too sensitive and just trying to scroll through lists I always wind up clicking on things by mistake, the sound quality of the bluetooth mic is so horrible that I've given up using it since people on the other end can't hear me, and the voice recognition is pure crap. In the end all I have is an awesome ipod interface (barring the touchscreen sensitivity) and
  15. I know this is an old thread but just to benefit those who have the same issue as the original poster, I have the exact same issue and I am actually using a PAC interface. If I reprogram it, the buttons work right away... try it again the next day and the buttons rarely work.. sometimes they do.. sometimes they don't.. more often than not they don't. I gave up on the PAC interface.. their tech support (which to my surprise was open on a SAT) told me the interface is fine and it's either my car or my stereo... The stock stero worked just fine with the steering wheel controls, so I know it's n
  16. I needed to meet a client at a specific Starbucks 30 miles away and wanted to enter the POI name and city name like I used to on my old N3. I couldn't see any way to specify a city name, it just lists all the locations in "Alphabetical order" (makes no sense to when all of the names appearing are exactly the same, STARBUCKS) or a list of loctions by distance which also makes no sense to me since I have to click on each one to see what town it's in and after 15 clicks I gave up. Is there a way to do this on the x920BT? -Keith

    Microphone

The included mic DOES have noise canceling. That's what those 'gills' are on the sides. The vocoder is in the front facing part and the rear slots are for the noise canceling. Now if the head unit doesn't have the software to deal with what the mic is sending it then that's once again a Pioneer issue, not a mic issue. I know that the mic looks like it has noise cancelling, and maybe it even does, but it seems like it's executed poorly. As I said, I'm going to connect my old mic to the unit to see if its any better. This will tell us whether its the mic's quality or the unit's. I've purcha

    Microphone

I tried talking into it directly today, and even a few inches away but it didn't make a difference. It picks up way too much background noise to the point its unusable when I'm driving more than 30 mph.

    Microphone

I used to have an AVIC-N3 and a separate parrot, that parrot sounded MUCH better than the one built into the X920BT. Everyone tells me that they hear way too much background noise and I'm too muffled. I'm going to buy an adapter and try connecting my old parrot mic to see how it sounds and will report back. I'm guessing the problem is a cheap mic with no noise cancellation.
  20. Thanks, yes that's exactly what I'm saying. The X920BT doesn't display nearly as many street names as my AVIC N3 used to. I can't imagine what perceived benefit drove Pioneer to make that change. -Keith
  21. I just started using the X920BT with an iPhone 4, previously I was using an AVIC N3. Multiple people have told me I sound fine when I'm not driving, but when I'm driving they can't hear me over the noise of the car driving. This wasn't an issue on my N3. The one good thing is I struggled with the volume of my parrot which I used with my N3, the built in parrot in the X920BT is MUCH louder. -Keith
  22. Ok, an update: I contacted Pioneer to ask about why it isn't displaying the street names for the majority of the streets around me when my Avic N3 did so, they told me this "functionality" is intended and there's no way to change it. That's a dealbreaker to me, what's the point of purchasing a GPS unit which doesn't show you street names? That's like buying a compass that just has unlabeled lines with no indicator on which direction is north.. I know the streets are there, I need to know what their names are. Very disappointing, especially since I already modified the harness to perform
  23. I installed the X920BT and noticed a few problems, though I expect many will go away after I install the firmware update. 1. I barely see any street names on the maps, only if I zoom in to the closest setting (.1 I think) will I see the occaisional street name, and that zoom level is close for my comfort.. I prefer a few levels up so I can see the surrounding streets and their names. My AVIC N3 did this just fine, is this be design on the X920BT or is there a setting I need to change somewhere? 2. Musicphere is downright confusing. I thought once it analyzes your library and you click

    Z120 or X920?

No, $15.. but for $15.01, if I get a picture how bad can it be? If I was going to spend $130 on a rear view cam, I would have put it towards getting a Z120 instead of the X920. (Which after further reading, I'm beginning to wonder if I made a mistake with the X920) I'll know tomorrow, should be here in the late afternoon. -Keith
