Using the map button on my Prius with OEM camera, works fine... Though when I say using, I mean it works when I tried it.. I don't actually have a use for it though... I only need it when backing up... Which brings up a question I'll post separately

I'm downloading the update now and will try it later.. Right now, when I try to play any music from Spotify the thumbnails blink on and off and if I select a song, instead of playing what I selected it starts playing the last song I played stored on my phone (iPod function) instead.. Seems more like a Carplay bug than a Spotify issue.. They made us wait this long for this buggy horrible product, I wonder what the delay was since it clearly wasn't QA.

Does this fix the spotify issue with blinking thumbnails and music not playing?

I should state im on 8.1 which appeared to break spotify even more, hopefully when it comes out Monday apology will have an update released at the same time which is compatible with it.

Nope, the app is totally useless at the moment. Hopefully an app update can fix it

8.1 beta 2 hosed CarPlay for me. Can't even use it anymore.

You need to go to General --> Siri --> Allow "Hey Siri" -Keith

Is it me or does call quality seem horrible using CarPlay? It sounds like a heavily processed low sampled mp3.. Anyone else experiencing this? -Keith

Same... can't download the firmware, can't even display the Pioneer site.. they must be getting hammered... Anyone who DL'd the 8000 NEX firmware able to publish it somewhere?

Yes, I think we're all aware of that. The point of my post is that obviously ios8 isn't what they were waiting for to release CarPlay.

All my app mode apps that use a keyboard crash under iOS 8... Car browser, ec touch, etc..

Looks like it isn't iOS 8 that they're waiting for.. Pioneer updated the NEX pages with a link regarding iOS 8 compatibility, there is none at the moment..

Maybe Ferrari had an exclusivity deal to be the first to release Carplay so Apple was holding Pioneer at bay until Ferrari could release it "first"? Who knows... Just like App Radio, it'll probably suck and sound great conceptually but fail miserably in execution. Only time will tell.. -Keith

So I'm thinking of switching from the iPhone to a Galaxy S5... At this point I'm giving up on Carplay and I'd like a bigger screen, so I'm thinking of giving it a shot before the iPhone 6 comes out.. Has anyone here tried a Galaxy S5 on their NEX unit? Does app mode require the display of the phone to remain on like the iPhone? Has anyone here used both the iPhone and Android and prefer the appmode experience of one over the other? One thing I'm confused on is the Mirrorlink capability.. If your phone supports mirrorlink does that mean you don't need the android adapter to do appmo

I think you need to use USB1 for appradio and usb2 for your android, give that a try... I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere I think..

For those of you with the European models that upgraded to the new firmware, does it enable the connected services like gas and weather? It just the naviextras?

I'm not going to flash my unit with the EU firmware but I did download the Naviextras app to see what it does, it seems to want to connect directly to the head unit or a flash drive, but it doesn't recognize my drive.. not sure how this is going to work with our NEX units.. guess we'll find out.. hopefully soon. I wonder if the naviextras will get us the weather/gas prices...
