    Iphone 5 Cable?

I replied to that other thread but for those not looking there, a commenter on blog post below stated that they tried it on their X940BT and it worked for them. I'm kind of hopeful now! -Keith http://fyre.it/1v8X

    iPhone 5 support?

A commenter to this article states they tried it on their Avic X940 and it worked perfectly for them. http://fyre.it/1v8X
  3. Yeah, this information is useless for existing owners as well. Anyone who already owns a unit is well aware of whether their iphone 5 works with it or not, we waited weeks for them to tell us what we already know? Pioneer just plain sucks. How about telling us whether they intend to develop a firmware update, updated cable, or anything which will provide compatibility in the future? That is what we need to know. God I hate Pioneer, I'm never buying one of their products ever again.. I'll go back to Kenwood or some other company.

    Iphone 5 Cable?

My order update changed for my Lightning adapter today, it now says: Lightning to 30-pin Adapter Available to ship: 5 - 7 business days Delivers Oct 18 - Oct 22 via 2-3 Business Days
  6. I noticed on one of my trips it did announce an exit number, but it isn't announcing most of them and isn't telling me the route names any longer. Did you use the Z140 firmware package that I did? Or the legit upgrade from pioneer? I wasn't aware the 940 upgrade was even available 6 months ago?

    Iphone 5 Cable?

Looks like the lightning adapters are finally shipping, if you live in Australia anyway. Any Aussies on this forum with a X9x0BT and iPhone 5? http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/08/apple-30-pin-adapter-begins-shipping/
  8. If you go to the regional settings menu you can see the different voices including text to speech. -Keith
  9. Very interesting... I have a x920BT which is upgraded to the X940BT firmware now and subsequently has lost it's VR for navigation... I might try playing with it this weekend, after I get a nice good full backup of the unit of course..
  10. There are two types of voices the unit responds with... the text to speech voice which sounds robotic but announces every street name, and the pre-recorded human voice which is limited in what it can say. The human voice consists of recored words such as: In, Quarter, Half, One, Feet, Mile, One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten, Hundred, Freeway, Right, Left, Entrance, Onto, The, Keep, North, South, East, West, Exit, I, Route Using those pre-recorded words, it would make phrases like "In Three Hundred Feet Turn Left Onto I Four Ninety Five South", or "In One Quarter
  11. No, I never used the text to speech voice. My regular US English voice would announce major route names.. it never did street names like the TTS does.
  12. No, if you read the official documentation at http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Accessories/Map-Upgrades/NAVTEQ+2012+Map+Upgrade+for+AVIC-Z110BT,+AVIC-Z120BT,+and+AVIC-X920BT it states that you will lose VR on navigation, NOT audio playback.
  13. Yeah I figured as much. I rarely use video on my unit, maybe 5 times a year.. It's sad that I'd lose it.. I wish a jailbreak would come out already so I could try tethering on the iPhone 5 to my iPhone 4 and see if that solution would work for me. Keith

    Iphone 5 Cable?

I'm curious if the stereo will "see" the iphone and allow you to see the music, play lists, and control it..
  15. I'm trying to decide whether to keep or return my iPhone 5 knowing that advanced app mode won't work. I've never used it before and played with it for a few minutes on my old iPhone 4 in Wifi mode... I used to use AHA radio in the past when I was bored but never found it useful and just seemed more like a gimmick.. and I'm wondering if I'd feel the same way about advanced app mode.. in reality, does anyone actually use it and find it useful? I suppose I could live with the bluetooth connection and no album artwork.. though even artist/title info doesn't show up for some reason unless I use
  16. I figured I'd post this here in case anyone is considering performing this upgrade.. I'll update this post if I find anything else. Some of this is documented in the firmware update's documentation anyway.. If you upgrade your X920BT to the X940BT firmware, you will lose your voice control for navigation.. It'll still work for controlling your audio sources however. I'm disappointed with the map upgrade; the US English voice navigation no longer tells me the major route names. As an example, it used to say things like: "In one quarter of a mile, turn right onto I 495 West" "Turn
  17. No, that was a typo.. I upgraded to the nav940 firmware. And no, I still have voice response for playing music.. But again I never use it because the voice response never works more than 10% of the time.. It's a gimmick to me.. I can't rely on it so I don't use it.. it's more frustrating than anything. -Keith
  18. I'm pretty sure they stopped supporting VR with Nav on the stock x930bt, however I retained my VR with Nav when I performed my upgrade to the 930 firmware. This time I didn't retain it, however my upgrade method wasn't exactly conventional.
  19. I had to check since I didn't before but it winds up that I can no longer use voice control for navigation, it only accepts commands for making calls and music. Normally I'd be upset but since voice response never could understand anything I said I gave up on it and never used it anyway.
  20. Yep! You have to manually update the BT by going to the BT settings screen.
  21. Look in the hacks forum for the x series... I made a post yesterday outlining how to upgrade the x920 to the x940 firmware and maps.

    Iphone 5 Cable?

Until the adapter comes out no one knows what functionality if any will exist or not exist -Keith
  23. What do you want photos of? And what do you mean by easier? These are the steps required, it doesn't get any easier than this other than me saying step by step what key to press, and if you need that.. you shouldn't even be attempting this. -Keith
  24. I should note a few of the things I noticed right off the bat which are improvements from the X930 firmware: 1. FINALLY when looking up POIs it lists the city each one is in.. Previously if I looked up Starbucks, it would list 50 of them and tell me distance but I'd have to click on each one to see where it was which was a PITA.. Now the list contains the city so you can just narrow in on the one you want 2. Advanced app mode for iPhone 3. New Maps I haven't had much time to play with the unit to see what other improvements there are.. But listing the city each POI is in was HUGE and
