1. wish I could help, I have a Z1 in my '06. Looks clean. Any good installer should be able to make it look clean.
2. Are you sure you have a unit that is made before July '06? If you're just now getting it installed I'm assuming you just purchased it, I'd be surprised if they had one in stock from before July. All of that to tell you, the light flashing is probably not going to work. You'll have to do the bypass to gain the added functionality you would like.
3. look very hard? http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=728 This will tell you where to begin.
4. I'm not using an external amp, so I don't know what the RCA's would affect.
5. Oh shit. You're absolutely right. I just tried this and it works. Don't know why the unit is so particular about such matters, but I don't care anymore, I can do my edits now. Words cannot begin to describe how indebted to you I am. I had the same problem, I was trying to delete a track and the button wasn't there. Go in from album view and the button was there. Was strange, but at least I finally figured ti out. Glad someone helped you out since I just saw this.
6. for those 3 people on the internet that know how to use the search feature... The new Z1 fixed the problem. No one at the shop had ever heard of this, even their Pioneer rep had never heard of anything similar. Who knows what was wrong, but the new unit fixed it
7. I had the shop check the ground. We went so far as to run a 10ga wire straight to the ground terminal on the battery. The problem still occurs. They're bringing in a new Z1 tomorrow... good thing I haven't customized it a lot yet.
8. How is it I was able to get on this forum and figure this out all by myself, without having to make a post about it? and you OBVIOUSLY didn't read that link if you only saw "ground the parking brake"
9.

So our Avic does not get time from the satellite? My old Nissan factory nav unit did that... Seems pretty basic. oh well.
Yes it does get the time from the sat, but you can change it for the time zone you are in and turn on summer time (daylight savings time). I think you can also adjust it forward and backwards by a minute or 2 if you were so inclined.
Good deal! I must not have had the daylight savings mode on then. Thanks!
oh, you have tyo turn it back on again in 6 m
10. When I play CD's the sound is fine, but as soon as I press record, to copy the disc to the library I start hearing a loud clicking/buzzing sound. This sound is also present when I play back the recorded songs. If you press the "recording stop" button the sound goes away. any ideas? edit: these are not burned CD's, these are store-bought cd's.
11. Is it possible to have the Z1 take audio input all the time? ie: output any sounds from this input along with the currently selected audio source. I think you might be able to accomplish this if you are using the multi-channel processor by t-ing your second audio source (the Valentine audio out) in with the Z1 output. Would be interesting to try out, but alas I don't have a radar detector OR the multi-channel processor.
12. I thought my factory radio cut out during start-up... maybe it didn't.
