  1. sorry, i meant to say the i thought the black wire was ground! you will want to place the black lead of the meter on a grounded piece of metal behind the dash, and then probe the white/red wire with the red test lead and if you see 12v when the key is turned on, then that is you power wire and the black/yellow wire is your ground.
  2. well i think that the black wire for the cig lighters harness is ground (but im not 100% sure, to be sure it need to be tested with a meter) and i know that the black wire for the cig socket (from best buy) is ground.
  3. no problem bud, it what we're here for, good luck.
  4. yes you could, (a lot of the time it is easier) BUT for this to work, the cigarette lighter socket must shut itself off when the key is removed (this is how almost honda's operate) to keep the battery from draining. yes, that is the right part from best buy, i was going to like to that page first but i didnt because it didn't have a picture. this part is stocked by most best buy's install bays, so you should be able to pick one up from them.
  5. go figure, wait till more phones are starting to support a feature then get rid of it! lol
  6. wait a minute, you mean to tell me that rigging something up doesn't work as well as just using the right parts?
  7. exactly, three phones later, and i'm surprised to see that the F900 actually does this!
  8. do yourself a favor, buy an IPOD, all the storage space you will need, AND the interface is great as opposed to piss poor interface used for SD and USB where you have to find music based on folder structure.

    Password

this is a line right out of "The Walking Dead" comic! ROFL BTW, if it was easy to bypass the password protection, what would be the point?
  10. not to mention, that the XM tuner is built by pioneer and is one piece instead of the two part sirius tuner one made by pioneer and the pother made by directed. the XM tuner seems to be a lot more reliable.
  11. but it is soooo much easier to have people read the manual for you...
  12. if you dont want it plugged into the cig socket, you could always get one of these http://yardsellr.com/for_sale/#!/aamp-of-america-cigsock-12v-power-socket-2195145 then you plug the avic's power adapter into it and then connect the red wire to the ACC wire at the radio or the wires going to the back of the factory power port, and then ground the black wire. done no more plugging it in to the power port
  13. well it depends, does your 120-Watt AM/FM/6-Disc In-Dash CD Changer Audio System: with 6 Speakers have an external amp? most accords do not, if it doesn't have a external amp, then the front 4 speakers are actually two pairs of components ran off two channels. so the nd G500 will actually work in that case as intended.
  14. there was a post that one of the mod deleted, this guy basically was replying to tons of threads, and no matter what the thread topic was, he was posting links to a websight to buy stuff from as his advice for the question asked. it got old quick, looks like his post where also deleted from all his other post. sorry for looking like a jackass.
  15. sounds like it, but it may or not be a defective cable, it also could be some factory wires or modules that the cables are routed near that is emitting the interference and the RCA's are just picking it up.
  16. more things to test. does the amp make the same noise if the RCA's are unplugged? if so, i would try for a better ground, or test with a different amp if no. does it make the sound with the rca's plugged into the amp, but not the radio? (if no on the first but yes on the second, you need to reroute your RCA's or you have a bad RCA and need to replace them) if no again, im back to suspecting the radio, you could try to unground the radio from where it is, and run a temporary ground from the radio back to where the amp is grounded, if this doesn't help i would test with a diffe
  17. well i doubt that it is the amp that is creating the noise, usually if there is an internal problem with an amp that causes it to make a noise, the gain wont effect it (not always but usually) however if the noise is getting picked emitted from somewhere in the car (again, most likely something in the ignition system, since it doesn't happen when the key is in acc, and it can happen when the motor is not running (definitely not the alternator)) the RCA's could be like an antenna for this and picking up the noise and then the amplifier is boosting up the level (which is why the gain will effect
  18. well it might be a problem with the sound board in the actual unit itself, when no music is playing there should definitely not be any noises coming out of any of the speakers. it never did this before adding the 4ch amp right?
  19. not 100% sure on that, ive never had to do the repair, but i have seen it a couple times.
  20. this does sound a lot like it could be the pico fuses, one other thing that i have seen is the signal ground go bad with some pioneers. this is actually very easy to test, take a small piece of wire, and stick it kinda into the RCA as you are plugging it in (sorry kinda hard to describe) so that it is only touching the outer part of the RCA connector. and then ground the other end (you will need to do this for each RCA) however, i do think that it is kinda weird that it doesnt happen when the radio is in ACC, you may have something in the cars ignition system that is emmiting interference,
  21. i would check to make sure that the antenna amp is getting powered up then, there is also the metra 40-eu55 which does have the same plugs but has its own signal amp, also make sur ethat your car does not have dual antennas like a lot of new German cars do in which case the 40 eu56 might work better.
  22. because if the setting is wrong, and the unit is showing the camera all the time, there is usually no way to get out of the camera screen and into the menu, disconecting the wire allows the unit to stop showing the camera to get into the menu. i would use a multimeter to verify that the reverse wires you tapped into does infact only show "ground" when the car is put into reverse, because if the wire shows ground any other time (or all the time) then you have the wrong wire and this is causing your problem. now if the reverse wire you tapped into does test right, and your setting is corre
  23. after looking a the video a few more times, i do think that this might really be the case. where did you get power for the camera? i would like to know, if the camera is powered up all the time (for testing only) or hooked up to ACC (the camera is on all the time when the radio is on) if the camera will show when the car is started before it is put into reverse, if this is the case, then it is the setting (92% sure)
