Bump Are their any major differences between the 8000 and 85-8600?

Looking for suggestions, I have a 8000nex, I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth upgrading to 8500 or 8600 or not. The map features look the same. I’m aware of the now wireless CarPlay for iPhone. Are there any other new features on any of the newer models that I’m missing that you love? Thanks Joe

Yes several times with the exception of the video cable, all connections are soldered and sealed.

My backup camera works when it wants to. sometimes the is no reaction by the headunit when I shift to reverse, sometimes a black screen with the warning message, sometimes it an actual video like it’s supposed to be. the camera hard wired to the left reverse light, ground and power. this has been going on for years. Thought it was the cameras fault, now I’m not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hey guys, I have been reading thru the forums and cannot find instruction on how to create a backup my nex-8000 before I make upgrades/changes. It probably simply because i do not understand all the terms being used. I just want to make 100% sure i have a backup of the unit in case something gets messed up. If someone can direct me to the right post and specifically what instructions to follow i would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Will a NEX 8100, 8200 or 8201software be used on a NEX 8000? if so where can i get the image? Thanks!!

It reset your GPS settings but does it clear your saved locations, fuel consumption data, and any other personal data too? If it does is there a way to back up the personal stuff and restore it after the update?

Its so annoying that Apple and pioneer can't get together and make it so you can do everything on one connection. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Currently, you have to connect via the thunderbolt and HDMI adapter to get iPhone mirroring and stream video from your phone to the 8000nex. CBut wile your connected with the adapter, CarPlay doesn't work.. Has anyone come up with a way to do both either thru the adapter or direct connection thru thunderbolt?? My thunderbolt/hdmi adapter is intermittent thanks to the stress of moving the phone around while its connected.. must be a be

yeah only works on the lightning cable connected to USB1 connected directly to the iPhone. Will not connect with the HDMI/Lightning cable adapter. so if you want to stream video off your phone, you will have to unplug lightning cable plug it into the adapter and then plug the adapter into your phone again.. Messages.. would not show any previous messages or the message I composed..it displays on the phone screen but not the 8000nex Look and feel of the app is cheaply done. not the usual for apple or pioneer.. NOT HAPPY...

I called Pioneer today to get some questions answered about my avic 8000. I asked about Apple carplay, he quickly responded it will be released by Sept 22nd. one more month to wait.. hopefully. -
i was told today by pioneer that AVICsync will be released by the end of the year(2014)

ill have to take a look at that. The album art has been the bigest annoyance and space waster on the screen with the current units and previous units.. you should be able to turn it on and off.

On the XM Radio Screen, anyone figure out If there a way to get rid of the giant "XMRADIO" icon?? I want to be able to get channel, artist and title information without it being cut off or scrolling.

I mean seriously, the unit is branded "NEX, the Networked Entertainment eXperience, the next generation of network connected in-vehicle receivers, combining on-board embedded features with cloud-based connected services" Some people cant pull data and make a call, so if your streaming content from your phone, you lose your place, and in some cases have to restart. I want Internet to be able to stream shows off netflix or apple tv for the passengers (kids) on trips.

Does anyone know if you can connect the 8000NEX in any way to a WIFI signal? I know it will use the data connection on your phone. However, i want to connect a more perminate data source to the head unit. like a cellular WIFI hotspot, onstar 4g lte data ect. If the unit will not do it does anyone know of a compatiable add-on? Well, *deep Breath* here it goes.. Got the 8000nex in the mail today! Going to install it tonight after work. Im hoping the Z2 harness will plug into the NEX and i wont have to do too much wiring. (if all the pins are in the same positions) Does anyone know if i can move my navigation destination address book from the unlocked Z2 to the NEX?

Do you have to switch back and forth between the HDMI signals with the splitter?

yeah camera view is on, but I connected the camera power wire to the reverse tail light circuit.

Yes I have the rear camera plugged into the brown (rear camera input) Apple TV is plugged into yellow AV input.. When I start the truck, the rear camera view comes on, and goes off after I shift out of Reverse. but the "image may be reversed" message stays on the top of the screen, I have to hit map then AV buttons to get back to Radio screen. apple TV will not come on without directly selecting AV from the menu. I thought the AV and Rear video are the same shouldn't the Apple tv signal over ride the blank rear view mode when a rear signal is not present?

Okay guys, here is my situation. I would love some suggestions if you have any on how to make this work. I just ordered my 8000NEX, it will be replacing my Z2 with hard drive and Z3 software update.<-- ($For sale$) In my truck connected to the Z2 I have the following: -Sprint 4g Internet Hotspot (to provide dedicated internet and streaming media for passengers when traveling on trips) -Hardwired (power only) Apple Airport Extreme router -Hardwired (power only) Apple TV with HDMI to RCA conversion unit to AV input. -Backup Camera connected to Rear Camera input. -Will have the HD

HDD upgrade did not fix the problem has anyone had an issue wit it taking over 2 mins to fully boot? What was the fix?Pioneer says theirs takes 30 secs, and to send it in for repair. the whole system operated slow when it does boot. is there a way to open the unit up without voiding the warranty?
