  1. I'm looking at getting a new Z120, to replace my F900BT, and a friend just got a JVC double-din with a detachable face, (this is kinda nice, as mine was stolen) free NAV updates, built-in HD radio, and some other cable for the IPOD included in the price. I don't use Iphones, only ipod, so Pandora link & and a couple of other apps won't benefit me, and I'll still need to shell out another $100 for HD radio. Can anyone point me to an independent recent review of JVC's HU's? I've heard from novice reviewer's via retailer reviews generally that they rank below Pioneer, but I'm looking for s
  2. I owned a 1gen 900BT for about 15 months until last week when it was stolen. I recall reading a fair number of buyer's regret on the F-Series, (mostly technical functionality). I wanted to seek a few opinions on what to replace my 900BT with: another Pioneer unit with fewer of the issues, and more functionality? or another brand/model even with stronger record of performance/satisfaction?
  3. I recently purchased and installed my F900BT into an 01 Chevy Tahoe. This is my second aftermarket radio install, and my first NAV unit, so I guess I am a noob although I have 16 years of hands on systems engineering experience, and a knack for electronics in general, concepts and lingo that you may not use each day can create some delays for anyone. However, after reading the valuable contributions made here and pulling it all together in my spare time over last two weeks, not only aided in my custom dash modification from a 1.5 DIN to 2.0 DIN, but also helped me get the installation correc
  4. I'm installing today and could use some help. Searched but could not find my car on website recommended at beginning of this thread. Any help would be appreciated. Also need assistance with locating positive side of parking brake wire.
  5. Hey guys, I'm installing my F900BT today, and I want to do the HW bypass, but I just read a post in the thread that made me think twice about it. He suggested using another wire from a computer harness for those that didn't want to "give up the mute wire" Does the HW bypass sacrifice some or all muting functionality when I move/ground the mute wire? e.g. will the system audio not mute when appropriate? e.g. (phone calls I assume). Also is there a tool recommended to remove the wire from the harness? I've been having some trouble getting it out of its original position.
  6. Shotgun, are you still out there? I converted my 01 Tahoe to a double din. First you'll want to remove the plastic sub dash that holds the radio and A/C controls. Cut out the back of it out so you have just the two sides. Mount the A/C controls 9/16" lower and make some sheet metal L-brakets for your radio. Buy the 03-06 dash bezel, it will snap right in place and looks nicer than modifing your old one. I used a BKGMK422 kit to fill in the space around the radio and the dash. The most time consuming part was mounting the radio. To achieve the best fit, mount the radio and then snap the bez
  7. Anyone done this install recently? I like the more polished look of shotgun's dash, in the finished project taking nothing away from the job above in fact I like the behind the dash mods, but I think I could live without the ash tray... for a pro look. Anyway, I've had a tough time finding a used bezel from a local salvage yard, anyone found a decent price to order one used or new? Thanks!
  8. Brian, what exactly did you mean if failed? I just purchased my F900BT and I would like to see your pics you described, as well as any others with general advice on installing/modifing my dash in a 01 Chevy Tahoe for this unit. For example I've been told that I could replace my instrumentation bezel with one from an 03'-06' and this should save me from cutting the bezel as it provides a double-din opening. Can anyone with an F series and 03-06 tahoe confirm whether or not they had to cut the dash bezel? Thanx.
