  1. So I have a F500BT which I had installed in a car a few years ago. Sold car, stored away F500. Was bored today and pulled off a pretty slick flush mount install in my new 2013 Elantra GT. Anyway, I haven't messed with this thing in years, I know I modded it to display speed limits, etc, I think I would like to start fresh with whatever the latest stock firmware is, plus of course the parking brake software mod. I have bluetooth and USB for music built in to the car so the AVIC will only be for GPS and backup cam. I have been digging around but am getting lost. Can anyone point m
  2. Everything is working now. I didn't realize that the current speed sign goes away when a route is active. I also found the option in the main settings to just tuen off the battery indicator. Looks good now.
  3. I am using a stock data.zip, with the following mods: - route delete on compass press - nav mute button I performed the steps outlined in the first post exactly. Upon reboot, I had a speed limit sign, but it was overlaid by the battery icon. I also had distance and time to destination icons where the elevation should have been. And the current speed sign was not there, but I had a small speedomoter looking icon with my speed displayed next to it. Ideas? I was very careful, and tried twice so far with the same results.
  4. From what I have gathered from reading thru the posts here and in other threads, you are better off using the 'patched' ezrider 3.0, and the 'unofficial' 3.0 update rather than using the actual 3.0 update from Pioneer. The Pioneer 3.0 update apparently has some bugs and unwanted behavior, possibly due to the windows CE update. The unofficial 3.0 update described on page 4 of this thread still uses the original windows CE image. I've been running it for about a week now on two different f500's and no problems whatsoever.
  5. All you would have to do is use the windowsce.bin for the 2.000 / 2.006 version, flash that with a full format in service mode, and then copy in a full "my flash disk" backup from 2.000 or 2.006.
  6. That's weird, mine still hibernates when you turn the car off and comes right back up when you turn it on. Then again, I am running the "unofficial" 3.0. I have the stock 2.000 image available via FTP (I can put it up tonight) if you need it. I can strip out the maps and other "content" to make it a smaller download. If you want it, PM me and I'll give you an IP and user ID you can use to get it tonight. Maybe go back to 2.000, update to 2.006, then do the unofficial 3.0 update. Works great for me.
  7. If you move in the LPUE080APL.HTM from the X910BT that says 3.0003, that screen will then report 3.0003 as well, just 'fixed' it. Might not be a true 3.0003 update, but at least the version screen says it is now.... I also tried using the entire x910bt flash disk, replacing the ezrider, sys.txt and license file, however the unit would not boot, just hung on the 'pioneer' screen. I thought this should work but I guess not. So I'm rebuilding it back to the 'fake' 3.0006 now.
  8. OK, I completed the update and it seems to have worked fine. I now have north up and course up in 2d mode which indicates to me I'm running 3.0. I used the maps from the x910bt. Is it normal for my apl under system info to still say 2.006? Maps are 2.003. Thanks again.
  9. So, I make a backup. I then download the two part RAR from above, which already contains the modified ezrider and license (is this true?). Put that on my SD card. I then copy in the maps from the APL2 that was in the original X910BT dump. Move this all over to my avic. Missing anything?
  10. Quick question, are there any versions of the 2009.2 maps that will work with the 2.006 (Igo 8.0) software, or are they all 8.3? Thanks.
  11. I have a similar issue. It might be just corruption on your map file. My unit started rebooting itself in roughly the same place a few months ago on the way to work, would always do it on the ben franklin bridge going into philadelphia and sometimes on a certain part of the highway leading up to there. It has gotten worse over time, now about 90% of the time when I am setting up a route, the unit reboots either immediately before you hit "route here" or immediately after the route is set up. It then usually comes back up with the route in place but will occasionally reboot randomly
  12. I also have an FTP site available to post (and then share) the flashdisk image for whoever is kind enough to send it over. I would prefer a stock, unmodified image, but any image that seems to be working OK will do just fine for now. Thanks, PM me for FTP address.
  13. This unit was replaced because my original stopped working, and I have not modded this one at all (still get the parking brake error because I have not even done that simple data.zip mod). However, recently it has started to spontaneosly reboot on me, often when I am selecting a route to a POI, or just at random times while driving, as if the rear reset button was pressed. It has been updated to the Official 2.006 firmware. The reboots started before I updated to 2.006, and I was actually hoping that the 2.006 update might resolve the issue, but it has not. So I'm looking for a clean bac
  14. Are any of the posted images compatible with the F500BT ? If not, is there somewhere I can get the flash disk image for the F500BT ? 15. Probably not, though the way I have my F500 wired it plays through the factory stereo, I am not using the F500 specific amp. So my steering controls work.
  16. Well I got this sorted. It dawned on me that there's that "DING" that sounds every time you get a voice prompt. I located the file, called !Nav_Dong.wav, and edited it to add 1.0 seconds of silence before the Ding. Works perfect. There are a couple phrases that do not trigger the ding, like "You are over the speed limit" and "recalculating", I might modify these to have the 1 second patuse as well, but might not. Last time I tried to modify the .ogg voice files I almost bricked the thing.
  17. Thanks! I actually took all of the mounting hardware off the suction cup mount so I'm still using the quick release dock, all I have to do is press the button on top of the mount and the GPS comes right out just like it always did. I have the GPS fixed now, however I'm fighting alternator noise now. I hooked up two cheap 12v noise filters from pep boys in line one after the other and it reduced it, also running a ground loop isolator on the pre-out cable, but I can still hear it especially when the engine rpm's are up above idle. Starting to drive me nuts. Other than that I like
  18. +1, I just whacked my f500bt, I need a copy of the igo folder. Can anyone help???
  19. Is there any way to get the F500BT to pause about 1 second before speaking voice nav prompts? I have it wired up in my Ponitac G8, but the G8 slowly raises the volume on the input line, so I end up getting the first 1/2 to 1 word of my spoken directions cut off. I found the voice.zip file and considered adding a 1/2 second pause before every word, but it would sound funny... Any files that can be modified to add a short pause at the beginning of each voice prompt? Thanks!! Steve
  20. Well, I answered this for myself so I will post it up for the benefit of others searching. For my particular car, I confirmed that the 'voice in' mode (mute and enable voice input) was triggered by grounding the wire on the stereo. So, I took a gamble and hooked up the "amp control" wire from the F500BT to the voice in wire on my car. Turned on GPS and radio and everything was ok, no smoke yet. Then I hit the round button on the GPS to trigger a voice prompt, and the radio display switched to "voice in" and muted the music. So, in my particular case, the 'amp control' wire wor
  21. I just got a Pioneer F500BT for my car. The unit is designed to interface with a custom Pioneer amp that bypasses the car stereo output to route voice directions and cell phone calls to the factory stereo speakers. The unit has an "amp control" wire that tells the pioneer amp when to mute the stereo and pass audio control over to the GPS. My factory stereo in my car (Pontiac G8 GT) has a 'telephone mute' wire and an input (+/- mono) for cell phone audio input. These wires are currently connected to onstar audio. I am almost certain that the mute wire on the radio will mute the audio
  22. Is there any way, using a relay or something, to make this wire trigger a +12v signal, like say, for a cell phone mute or external amp?
