I cant give a solid answer on that one because I bought my AVIC off Ebay and I know some stuff was already done to it because when I went to do the motion bypass it was already done. However it still had the stock HDD and (dont no one shoot me) but I bought a 60Gb Z3 upgrade HDD (MK6034GAX) off Ebay for $80. I bought it after much reading and learning what all I needed. It had the Z3 maps, 08' firmware, Gracenote and Bluetooth upgrades so I guess so.

Thew bigger question is wherewas your alarm with such an expensive HU?

Ive got it with my Z1 in my 04 Ram and have no issues with it. I have used it on several occassions and while I am told I dont have a echo or anything, people can tell they are on speaker phone.

thx for all the answers and help. the AVIC-Z2 I was going to get that didn't have the HDD sold for way too high for the dollafr I wasn't to spend on it. However, I ended up getting a Z1 model that was complete with everything including a IPod cable and BT piece. Since from what I have read here on the differences on the three Z units, I felt getting the Z1 was acceptable being I am going to upgrade the HDD anyway.

So if I go ahead and order a HDD from you I assume I can simply install it (ive read some of the directions already) and power it up and thats it for the most part?

Im new and trying to read everything and everywhere I can but Im looking to get a AVIC-Z2 from a guy but it doesnt have the HDD. Will the unit function and work long enough for me to test most of it out until I get get an HDD (from here)? TIA
