  1. The HD interface is almost identical in form and function to the FM. If you are looking for only cosmetic change do not spend the money on this... It greatly improved my reception and I am happy to have it.
  2. Just to throw in a little more explanation. I believe but am not 100% positive that you would need to split your antenna to the HD module and the AVIC. That is what I did and the MSN works fine. In all honesty I did not try to see if MSN came in on the HD Module. Logic says that is should work, but the question is if the AVIC still sees the MSN data stream over the HD hookup. Let us know what happens if you go this route. Regards, M
  3. Thanks for clearing it up Alex. The overview was what I meant to be talking about. Just got my terms mixed up. Thanks for clearing that up. ATB M
  4. Ozmangrant, What probably happened is that you have the smart zoom turned on and set to zoom at 2.0 miles. BTW this is a feature that I really like. If your route segment is longer than 2 miles the screen will zoom out and give you an overview and it does it with North up. As you get under 2 miles the screen should zoom in and revert to the mode that you were using before. I believe if you turn off the smart zoom then this will not happen. Alex will correct me if I am wrong. Hope this helps. Mark
  5. Hi Alex, Thanks for the response. Black letters with white should do the trick. And it work well for the night screens as well. If you can explain to me how to change the colors, I would try it myself and let you know which combination seems to work best. Regards, M
  6. Hi Alex, Happy New Year to you. Sorry for the unclear explanation. It is the distance information to the speedcam that is hard to read. The color of the numbers do not stand out enough for me to take a quick glance and discern the information. A different color would make that information more discernable IMHO Thanks and regards as always. Mark
  7. Alex, Happy holidays to you!. Your latest mod is absolutely terrific. It makes the Avic what it should have been in the first place. I have one small request or question. The color of the speedcam information is very difficult for me to see. I am using the Pioneer background which has been modified and it just blends into to the point where it is difficult for me to see. I will change the color my self if you can tell me where to find the parameters to change it. If I can modify this, you upgrade would be flawless IMHO. Thanks M
  8. You will probably need some type of adapter harness to get it up and working. Metra is one company that does harnesses and well as Scosche I believe. Also, I think that there was and entire post of an install into a Scion. Do some searching and that may be of some help to you. Good luck. Happy Holidays M
  9. Alex, It just keeps getting better and better. One thing, I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I tried to POI search and I seem to get the wide search. How would I narrow that down some? I put in a search for a burger joint called Del's and got responses for Delta's with the DEL'S characters highlighted and things that were 300 miles away. I will keep playing with it and see if I can figure it out, but right now not making a whole lot of progress. Thanks in advance and happy holidays. M
  10. Hmm I see what you mean. I just did it in an emulator. It certainly does zoom out to the full level and then come right back down. I will take a look at it. Thanks for finding it. Thanks for taking the time to check it out and address it. M
  11. Hi Alex, Happy holidays to you.. I have noticed a small "sniglet" which I am not sure is intentional or not, but I have discovered that the Overview mode ( which I use a lot when navigating) is not working when the smart zoom is on. What I see happen is the Overview mode screen will come on briefly and then immediately go back to the scale that I have already set. Not the close up but normal operation for me is the 1500 ft scale. Then as I get closer the screen does the zoom in. After I make the turn if the distance to travel is more than 4 miles for example the screen would go to the
  12. Alex, As always great mod. One quick question for you. Did you at one time have a toggle for the street numbers? Not sure if it was you or someone else. I would like to have the ability to turn them on or off or have them come on during navigation. If it is a hassle, don't worry about it; with the address of the final destination showing and the voice telling you which side of the street it is on, it won't be a big deal for me with the street numbers if it is problematic to do it. Regards and happy holidays. M
  13. Make sure that you do not have the IP Bus cable reversed. They seem very specific about the direction that this cable should be used. IE Black into the reciever and blue into the Nav Unit. Hope this helps
  14. Thanks so much for the help. I really appreciate it. My confusion came from the fact that the backup of the upgrade did not contain that folder for some reason. However it was on the Avic. After that a piece of cake. Thanks again so much for the help.. It works perfectly. Regards, M
  15. I am feeling really dim today. I downloaded your Samantha file and have no idea where to put it. I unzipped your file on another drive on my computer just to look at and I still can not find the appropriate place to install. I am not a total noobee, but I am sure missing something here. Can you explain what to do after you download the file? I have no problems modifying the sys file whatsoever. Not sure why I am finding this so confusing. I feel like a !!!!! Thanks M
  16. This sounds great. But I am old and confused. I found that I need to use your command.csv file and that is no problem to replace. My question is after replacing that file and modifying the sys.txt file am I done? Also will it work with the male voice? Thanks for figuring this out. I always felt that this was lacking with the AVIC. Thanks again!!! Regards, M
  17. Joe, There is an aux jack on the front on the F90 and I just plug the headphone into that with a wire. You have to set AV to the second input on the setup to make it work. Check again. M
  18. First thing that I would try is an external separate antenna to make sure that the unit is working properly. Next depending on antenna type, the antenna requires some power. Check to make sure that the antenna (if powered) is actually getting it. Hope this helps. M
  19. Alex, I think what our friend is talking about with the location arrow is the triangle on the screen. On IDT mods the arrow is positioned lower on the screen than yours in all modes. Take a look at where the arrow is in 3d mode and on IDT's in 2d and North up the arrow is in same position. On your mod the arrow is centered on the screen. Regards, M
  20. I believe that he is aware of this and working on a fix. Regards, M
  21. IDT, Great mod....You are amazing. One small bug that I found is in the custom settings menu. I get an error message and I think it is because it is trying to find the fade option and it is not there. It is not a biggy by any means, just thought you would want to know. Regards, M
  22. Had the same problem with the speakers as you all did. Basically what I found out is that while the wiring appears to be good, some of the connections are loose. The main culprit appeared to be the harness going to the Scosche (SP). This was at both ends; where the wires plug into the AVIC and the connector to the Schoshe itself. I basically tie wrapped all the connectors going to the AVIC and used some Velcro to mount the Scoshe to the firewall of the car. That took care of the problem for me. I could wiggle the wires before and have the right side cut out. Hope this helps. M
  23. This mod is terrific. Have a question. Is it possible to turn off the turn restrictions? The data is totally unreliable in Texas and would prefer not have that feature. Thanks in advance. Am I missing on how to do this?
  24. Here is what I found that seems to work. Push the small reset button on your unit and this will reset the unit. It normally saves most settings except for the stations and some audio settings. This should bring it back to life. I found that I lose it if I turn the car off before I get the nag screen. If I wait until that screen shows up before shutting off the car, I do not lose the MSN direct. I do shut it off before the nag screen (ie in under 30 seconds normally) I will lose the MSN and get the connection status screen and have to do the reset. Hope this helps. M
  25. Gary, Had the same problem as you.... What is really weird is that it happened in the Austin TX area but worked everywhere else. Perhaps some bad map data???? That was my first issue with this and I posted on the forum but have not heard anything back. Hope they can resolve this issue. Regards, M
