  1. Does your factory stereo have an external amp which may need to be by-passed?
  2. PaisanNYC, I'm sure that this could be installed without drilling holes. If you used a 2-sided 3m sticky pad and channeled the cable properly, it could be done. I did however, drill through the top of my Explorer and fed the cable down and under the headliner and then channeled it along the top of the passenger side of my interiors pillar trim. It was a clean install and I am pleased with the results. By the way, there is a sliding rubber grommet on the cable which is used to plug any hole that you've drilled. I'll take pictures tomorrow. Cheers, Kevin
  3. I guess I don't see it as being large. I have a fiberglass spoiler on my explorer and I mounted it directly on that. Had I not had the spoiler, I would have mounted it directly on top of the SUV. If it was a car, I would have mounted it to my bumper, provided that it would not impede the opening and closing of the trunk. Lots of possibilities here. I will take some pictures of the actual camera on my Explorer so that everyone can get an idea of what it actually looks like mounted on a vehicle. I'll try to remember to do this tomorrow. Cheers, Kevin
  4. Hey tillithz, A couple of things... First, I resized the pictures, deleted the old ones, and uploaded the new ones but unfortunately, I could not get this thread to readjust it's page size. So I then deleted all my newly re-sized pictures and cut all the text and typed in only the word 'test' and resubmitted with no pictures. The thread page was still wide. It looked great when I previewed it, but once I submitted it, it was wide again. Lesson learned! In the future, I will make sure that my pictures are sized correctly to begin with. Secondly, today I tried to angle the camera dow
  5. Thank you for the tip NextGen, But that glare was temporary. It lasted for like 1.2 seconds. I just happened to be stopped at the end of the I-75 exit ramp and the sun was shining right on the camera. I had already adjusted my brightness prior to taking that photo and all in all, its perfect. Cheers, Kevin
  6. tillithz, I am on my way out the door. When I get back, I will resize the pictures and repost. Kevin
  7. Its a great camera isn't it? I am currently working on getting some from a distributor for $99 each. Right now I am checking into availability. Then I will start selling them for $110.00 + actual shipping. I paid $120 + $29 shipping which I thought was steep but what can you do? Thanks for your input. Cheers, Kevin
  8. Yeah, I tow a boat and a cargo trailer from time to time so it does help to have the full height view. But I do want to try angling down to the bumper to see how that works out. I'll post my opinion tomorrow.
  9. That's a good point tillithz. As I have it positioned right now, when the bumper of the rear vehicle meets the bottom of my screen, I am about 18" from that bumper which is the clearance I like to have. And I still get the maximum distance of the camera's view. It's really just a matter of preference I guess. I have not tried it angled down so as to see my bumper, but I will try that tomorrow just for fun and provide feedback as to how I like that positioning versus what I have now. Thanks for adding your point of view. No pun intended. Cheers, Kevin
  10. No problem ducatiboy. Always happy to contribute. Cheers, Kevin
  11. MY REVIEW OF THE MOLONEY CCD REAR VIEW CAMERA After much research, I finally decided on a camera that I felt would meet my high expectations and provide me with all the features I wanted in a rear view/backup camera. So I bought it. First, I wanted a camera that had a very wide viewing angle so that I could see everything around me (110 deg. or more). Next, the camera had to have a high quality CCD 1/3" or larger lens so that the image would be sharp and rich with brilliant color and detail. A CCD lens is a MUST for a high quality image. Thirdly, it had to have the ability
  12. Nice Rodge, really nice! And oh how I hate those people who don't use their turn signals...tillithz! Ughhh! That's how you get whacked in the rear end. But then again, maybe tillithz likes getting it in the rear end. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.... Just kidding tillithz! I just had to say it. Cheers, Kevin
  13. You don't need the CD-SR1 for your voice command. There is a push button on the front of the AVIC-Z2 that actvates iioce command. Don't waste your money unless of course, you find it difficult to move your hand an extra 6 inches. I have the CD-SR1 and I hate it. I would, however recommend the PAC SWI-PS Pioneer Steering Wheel Interface. This will allow you to use your factory steering wheel's controls to control some of the Z1/Z2s functions. Click here for more info: http://cgi.ebay.com/PAC-SWI-PS-Pioneer- ... dZViewItem I hope this info helps. Cheers, Kevin
  14. The full screen view is for while in reverse only which, to my knowledge, has no settings and therefore is not adjustable for brightness/contrast, etc. On the otherhand, the split screen view is while in map mode which has video settings. Really dumb huh? Anyway, I'm glad that the brightness adjustment fixed the line noise problem. Actually, I'm not so sure that it fixed the problem as much as it hid the problem. I say this because your line problem did not occur with the engine off while the brighness was still adjusted high. If brightness was the entire problem, then the line noise sho
  15. After you upload the CD, all you need to do is ground 2 wires. Do a search for 7/2006 Z1 bypass. You will never need to flick your lights on and off again. And no extra hardware to install. Very easy to do. Cheers, Kevin
  16. I went to a party like this once. But by the end of the night, everyone had short circuited. What a mess. A lot of fun though. Cheers, Kevin
  17. Yes, You can have them both connected. The VSS wire connection will not affect the by-pass in any way. The VSS connection will give you more accuracy in ETA times and GPS location accuracy so it really needs to be connected. Cheers, Kevin
  18. DataAve, Have you contacted the State Attorney General Office to file a complaint against the store? That would be my first step. I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. I feel your pain. Cheers, Kevin
  19. Sorry folks, I forgot to add 'Bluetooth Fix' to the poll when I created it and unfortunately, I cannot ammend it. So for those of you who would prefer the bluetooth fix, please select another choice and I will also submit your discontent for the bluetooth to Pioneer when the poll is complete. Yes, bluetooth on the Z1 has flaws and although the update did help with the echo, it still isn't perfect. Thank you all for participating in the poll. It is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Kevin
  20. Than I say go for concept 2! Black is Beautiful! Cheers, Kevin
  21. hybridamp, Welcome to business 101! This is how it works with most all navigational companies. Usually companies will give a break to customers who bought their units recently as a reward for not waiting and buying the older versions. For example, right now there is a Microsoft Windows promotion that states: if you purchased a qualifying computer within the past 6 months that had Windows XP installed as the OS, you would qualify for the all new Windows Vista OS for free, which by the way, is due to be released in 2 days. However, if you bought it even 1 day before, you have to pay to u
  22. I don't see anything about Divx in the following AVIC-Z2 write-up taken from Pioneer's website: Accuracy is the Name of the Game with Pioneer’s Next Generation Flagship Navigation System Pioneer's AVIC-Z2 Incorporates New Point Addressing Technology LAS VEGAS, CES Booth #9827 January 7, 2007 Pioneer Electronics USA Inc. sets a new standard in navigation technology with its AVIC-Z2 in-car navigation system using new point addressing technology and a newly released map database from Tele Atlas for a navigation experience unlike any other product currently available in the marke
  23. I have a better solution! Tell your boss to kiss your ass and find another job. It sounds like your boss is a real assh@le who doesn't stand behind his employees the way he should. And who in the hell wants to work for someone like that? But if you really must keep this job, then in the future give your customer a time range. Say 1-3 hours dependant upon how easy or difficult the install goes and tell them that labor will be charged accordingly. But if it were me, I would walk. You don't need that kind of crap from your boss. I'm sure that you are more valuable to CC than you
  24. I would just like to see "Last or Latest Topics" be in a slightly larger font size. But I do like the black BG as well for home page only. I would still keep all posts with white BG in case someone wants to print the post and not use up all their black ink in one shot Mega Cheers, Kevin
