  1. It's been almost a week and not a single lockup/freeze. I've gone about 1000 miles since the patch install with a lot of starts and stops. I think this might have really fixed it (Fingers crossed).
  2. Today it was 87, but my truck sat in the sun all day and when I got in the temp read 103. Started her up and it worked!! Time will tell, but I think they may have actually fixed the problem.
  3. Thanks!! I'm going out to install it now. It will be nice to have the damn thing work more than once in a while.
  4. I too have been getting various lockups/freezes. Sometimes it doesn't seem like temp has anything to do with it. Has anyone had a freeze since successfully installing the update? I'm going to be installing it later today.
  5. You should put it on ebay with a buy it now price of $0.01 and put a link to the forum. That would put a crimp in the "scumbags" sales
  6. Many thanks to Hyperite and all. Once again the forum has provided a big solution to a big problem. My early model Z2 took the iso in one shot, approx 10 minutes. Took a drive and all is well. And thank God the Parking Brake message is gone. I thought I was going to wear a hole in the screen from clearing that message!!
  7. Well there you go. PM Hyperite your info and let him go to work. It doesn't matter if you give it to him because it only works on your unit. But with enough info he might be able to reverse engineer the algorithm.
  8. So I don't think the DVD has all the passwords for every Z1 ever made, but I do think that it has an algorithim that can take the password and extract the serial number from it, then it can compare to the serial of your unit and work or not. So the whole reason you even generate a password (other than just supplying one with the dvd) is so that they can take the media number and your serial number and run it through whatever algorithim that generates the password for just that reason, so you can't pirate. If someone figured it out they could build a keygen that would allow you to mak
  9. Here are some links about the update cd (from the activation site). From reading them you can figure out that the password is generated to only work with your unit (one serial number). You can't generate another from the media number because the site will already have registered it. So it looks like if the Z2 to Z2 update does work, without password and does add the bypass back in. Then the only way for Z1'ers is to update their disk image to a Z2 and then update with the disc. I look forward to DB verifying that this will work. 10. You put in the media number and your serial number, this generates a unique password that will only work on your serial numbered unit. And obviously once you register a media number to a serial number you can't use it again. So unless someone comes up with a keygen, a copy of the disc is useless to Z1 Owners.
  11. From the activation site faq: Q: I receive the message, “Media Number already in-use.†A: Please confirm that you are using the correct Media Number located on the Media Number Card bundled with the update disc. Each Media Number is unique and cannot be used to update multiple Pioneer navigation systems. And from the detailed walkthru: ** NOTE ** This password is unique and can ONLY be used with this Device Number and Media Number combination.
  12. So I have a question. Would it really be illegal to share the image with current Z2 owners? The disk is to update Z1's to Z2's. Those of us with Z2's aren't gaining anything, except the bypass (hopefully). If they are controlling pirating by requiring a key to update Z1's and no key for Z2, then I would think that they don't really care if you use it to update your Z2.
  13. Did you have to generate a password on the Pioneer site? or did it just upgrade, no input needed?
  14. Even though it was his second post, he joined back in June of last year. Another lurker like me.
  15. We can only hope that Pioneer or the resellers will do the right thing, but I'm with you, my ass is sore already without knowing anything for sure yet.
