  1. Yes of course I will blame Pioneer. How can the Bluetooth on a phone work perfectly fine with the Avic Z1 for 2-3 months, then all of a sudden when you are out of your regular driving area travelling in areas that haven't been driven before or densely populated areas like Toronto Ontario - Avic Z1 continually disconnects and reconnects with the phone. With the having learning mode in the Avic, this problem seems to be too much of a coincidence. Editted and added Sat. May 5th - this past two days I've also noticed that if I travel in our local area that are not mapped with the TeleAtl
  2. I've been using my Avic Z1 with my Pearl 8100 Blackberry....and it's been working fine since January. I have noticed the past month or so and also with a previous Treo 650 phone that the Avic would connect and disconnect randomly, but most obviously and only in areas I haven't travelled in a while or highly congested areas such as Toronto Ontario. I believe that the unit has auto learn and fear that this is a problem with Pioneers engineering. I have no problems around my home town and where I frequenly drive.
  3. Too bad we can't use another mapping company. There is another that has far more reliable and up to date maps.
  4. The current Teleatlas data in the Z1 is supposed to be 2005, but I beg to differ. I travel areas/streets/subdivisions that have been in existence since 1999 and are NOT on the 2005 so called data. With the Bluetooth disconnecting while it seems the unit is in learn mode in highly populated areas or new areas and with these so called map updates, in my opinion, a great piece of work Pioneer has made, with poor planning and engineering.

  6. Now that they are launching the Avic-Z2...with UPDATED Maps... Perhaps as a group we could get a letter over to some heads at Pioneer?? There seems to be two common problems with Avic-Z1: 1) Bluetooth problems 2) No updated Maps for the GPS With the caliber of unit we have, you would think engineering would have played a better roll with the Avic-Z1. I propose to write the letter, but we will also need to have a list/endoresement of fellow Avic-Z1 owners who have the same problem! I could compose the master cover letter to Pioneer and the individual Avic-Z1 owners also sen
  7. Our Treo 650 is unlocked. The 1st Treo is the one that all of a sudden after about 1.5 months of working fine with the Avic, started to work funny with the Bluetooth.
  8. Yes, i did a full reset on the harddrive of the Avic...clearing the initial Treo 650. I just got off the phone with Pioneer and they asked the same thing about doing the reset. They are about to fax me the list of compatible phones. Hope it's a big list.
  9. What's funny and strange is I have a brand new Treo 650 GSM and it worked fine for over 1 month...then all of a sudden the same phone would not connect to the Bluetooth on the Avic... the only time it does now is when a call is received or initiated by the Cel Phone. I thought the problem was with the Treo so they replaced it... the new replacement initially connects to the Avic bluetooth for about 1 minute...then it act the way as mentioned above. to the previous post to the thread about compatible phones, you need to look elsewhere for the Palm OS... Garnet 5.4.8 is the latest OS versio

Why would the phone work perfectly for more than a month, then all of a sudden start to work differently??
  11. I've used a brand new Treo 650 on GSM since purchasing the Avic Z1 in Nov. 2006. The Bluetooth worked like a charm, no disconnetions, no problems. All of a sudden 1 week ago... the Bluetooth disconnected in the middle of a conversation... and it would never reconnect again on it's own. The only time it would connect is if the call is initiated from the phone or there is an incoming call. I tried a Nokia 6103 (Wife's simple flip phone) and it connected no problem. I called Treo and they said that the Pioneer is not on their compatability list. I insisted on sending the phone back t
  12. My unit was purchased brand new, Nov. 2006. I was disappointed with the unit that the map updates claim to be 2005, when in fact, here in Ontario Canada....there are areas on the GPS that were developed more than 6 years ago! What kind of updated maps are these?? Is there an update on the maps coming out??
  13. [quote name="maynard"]Carrier: Verizon Phone: Treo 650 Tranfer Contacts: Not Supported Calling: Connects with my Z1, however only connects when receiving a call or dialing (sending) from the Treo, no use of the Z1 dialing capabilities. I tried to update the software yesterday which was a mistake, now I have a Motorola V3c which works 100%. I am looking to trade the V3c for a Q, I see where it is fully functional, can someone verify that? 14. I have a Treo 650... it worked fine with my Avic-Z1 with ND-BT1 for one month... all of a sudden the Treo would lose the Bluetooth connection, but if I called a number directly in my Treo and not the Avic, the Bluetooth would turn on. I called Treo and they tell me the Pioneer is not on their compatibility list. So I tred a Nokia 6103 (wife's phone) and it worked like a charm. My Treo has been replaced 3 times in two months under warranty and has done a lot of weird things such as shutting off, reseting on its own. It's getting trashed, and trying to find a new good phone that wil
