  1. Like CamelTowing said, I enter the city name first before I enter the street name. When you start typing the street name, there is a number in the upper right corner that tells you how many streets match the letters you have entered thus far. If you're not sure of the exact street spelling you can enter some of the letters, click OK when you've narrowed down to 20 streets or so, then pick the correct street from that list. For additional assurance that I have the right address I sometimes use the map icon next to the address selection to get a map of its surroundings, which is handy if I
  2. I think one application called DVDInfoPro is able to change your drive's booktype to DVD-ROM if you need to. That's what I did to make my writer able to burn Xbox 360 backups. Then, I'd probably use CloneCD to make the nav disc backup. I haven't tried to copy the nav disc for myself yet but I'm certain it would work. Also, I recommend using Verbatim branded DVD+R DL media for best data integrity and performance.

Mr. Ceddy, I downloaded a scene release (group was LOL i think) episode of Lost, 24, and Heroes onto a dvd-r off bittorrent, it was an xvid ac5.1 hdtv rip. Did NOT play in the d3, which was a little disappointing. Unit sees the files on the drive but errors out when you try to play them. I believe this is the confirmation you needed.
  4. I opened up my console and fixed up all my ground wires with U shaped terminator connectors, to make the ground connection easier to secure (as opposed to bare wire). Now the bypass works perfectly for me as well, no cutoffs like before this time!
  5. I have a question: I have a 1995 nissan maxima that I want to hook up xm radio to but I didn't connect the power cable before I closed up my console. Does anybody know of any places where I might be able to find alternate leads to CONSTANT POWER so that I don't need to open up my console again? Thanks for any help you can provide!
  6. You can't use the bar in the middle which kinda sucks, I have 22 pages worth of artists on my library list. However, you can hold the page down button to quickly skip to the page you want, however as it is skipping it doesn't show you the artists you are skipping through. So you'd have to know whereabouts which page to stop on. It would have been nice if it at least gave the letter of the alphabet you were in.
  7. No problem. Hope you like your new d3 unit!
  8. Go for it. However, as I said, the updated btb200 adapter may fix the problems with the bluetooth. Personally I hope that it will as I am planning to get the 6800 when it comes out for verizon. The ipod integration on the D3 is definitely much better than previous models and you should be pleased with it this time around.
  9. Well of course. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But if you are having problems with compatibility with certain phones (i.e. the ppc6700 or cingular 8525) then you should get the 200. Since Sloppy is having problems with his bluetooth right now on his current unit, I recommend he get the btb200 with the assumption that his issues would be fixed with the compatibility updates. Upgrading to a d3 alone is not going to solve his problem. Nice thing is you could go to crutchfield which has that 30 day free return shipping guarantee and that way you can try it out and see if it fixes the problem
  10. Is anybody else experiencing what's happening to me? I still haven't put any dvd's in after bypassing so I wonder whether or not movies will play while I am moving. Not that I would use that feature but I'm sure someone out there wants to know.
  11. Based on what i saw on crutchfield, I think the parrot is a standalone unit and does not use the pioneer at all. I'd wait for the btb200 to come out in april/may if I were you.
  12. Okay the bypass works for me too. Only thing is, now my car disables the controls if the car is in motion. After driving about a 1/4 mile I got a screen from the unit saying it detected that the parking brake wire was improperly disconnected. Then I noticed the navi search controls were disabled. The second I stopped at a traffic light they came back and then as soon as I started moving again they went away again.
  13. Check this topic. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4670 I have also done it as of 30 minutes ago. It works.
  14. Here's what the install manual (page 10) says about the mute lead on the rca cable: "If you use an equipment with mute function, connect that equipment to the Audio Mute lead. If not, keep the Audio Mute lead free of any connections." The bluetooth adapter doesn't need that audio mute lead though since it uses the IP-BUS connection, so no it won't affect that muting feature.
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong but the bluetooth adapter connection doesn't need that mute lead, so grounding the mute wire won't affect the av muting feature.
  16. I haven't done any of that yet. I haven't attached the parking brake wire yet so the features available were limited. I finished the install minutes before I had to leave for some obligations yesterday, and was pretty much busy for the remainder of the day. I should have plenty of time today to finish the work and fully test the unit.. So far on my to do list, I will be testing DVD Playback, divx/xvid playback, navigation, xm radio capabilities... I'll try and get an mp3 dvd burned and maybe copy some background pics as well so I can try that functionality as well.
  17. JCcool, I heard that the PPC6700 (the predecessor to the 8525) had problems with the btb100 adapter on all the other pioneer navis, so I figured there would be problems for the 8525 / XV6800 / Titan. If you're going to stick with Pioneer bluetooth I recommend ditching the btb100 and waiting for the btb200 to come out in April/May, I think that will be a lot better in the compatibility. Otherwise, like the guy before me said, get another brand adapter.
  18. Yeah, sorry it took so long. Had a few complications like I didn't have an adapter to hook up my stock antenna which I wasn't aware that I needed so I had to find a local shop that carried it, also Crutchfield had sent me the wrong harness for my vehicle. Also, looks like I've gotta open my console back up to apply the bypass since they figured it out, I will probably do that this morning!
  19. I just posted some pics and ipod playback impressions (linked to a video I made) on this thread. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=31582

  21. I ended up compressing the video and uploading to sendspace: http://www.sendspace.com/file/cowvni Some things to point out: - When the video starts I am turning on my car, notice that the ipod music starts up very quickly as the pioneer unit is still booting up. Then it seamlessly takes you to the ipod playback menu. - The playback quality is excellent. I didn't need to mess with any volume controls on the ipod itself to get it working with correct amplification. - You can use the on screen controls to change songs, or you can use the buttons on the left as well. - I fo
  22. I finally got the d3 installed (Crutchfield had sent me the wrong harness so they had to sat deliver another one to me), I haven't had a spare minute to mount my navigation system or xm radio up but I have been playing with the radio and ipod connection tonight. I'll set up the gps antenna and xm tomorrow. So far I think the unit is awesome! Also, I took a 2 minute video showing the new ipod experience. I would like to upload it to youtube but I'm having problems with the upload right now. Ipod integration is very nice indeed, my only complaint is that the id tags don't scroll if they're
  23. I lifted the big white sticker that has the pioneer logo and says AVIC D3, the serial number and a lot of small print. There are 2 holes under there, one near the middle of the sticker, but go up and right a tad (this is exposed to the inside of the unit, but i didn't see a switch. Just a couple of resistors I believe), then there is one near the bottom of the sticker in the center (bottom of a screw under there). Can't feel any holes under any of the other stickers (there are 2 smaller stickers on the top of the unit) so I'm pretty sure I did the right sticker.

I'll let you know when mine is in.. I'm working on my radio now
  25. Hmm... just lifted that sticker... didn't see any switch! Further elaborations or pictures would be appreciated!
