well I bit the bullet and ordered the 3.0 update as I didn't want to do the unofficial one and f***up the unit. I manage to get it for what you all preorder it for at $59.99 at cruthfield.com. It's actually on backorder and they said it should be in stock by friday so by tuesday I'll get my update then give my impressions.

At&t 3g in my area NYC amounts to 92kbs saturday night and peak at around 380kbs on fast days. Well at least I did the tethering hack and getting what amounts to be dial up internet speed via the iphone.

People in here seem to be real smart and can hack their system so I'm sure someone can get around that passcode.

It's not a simple firmware update. If it were, then it would be free. They are actually updating the navigation software (not just the maps) to improve performance. The software update costs them money, which they charge to us. updating it to the way it was suppose to be from the start.

point me to the free official 3.0 firmware update on pioneer website for the avic f90bt. Last I checked the free firmware they offer is the 2.06 firmware.

I paid over $900 including installation for my f90bt 6 months ago. I'm sure Pioneer paid less than $50 to have the unit made in china. Come on, they got a new firmware and the only way to get it is to order it for $80. The reason why they bundle the firmware with the maps was to FORCE people to fork over more money. I hope someone will find a crack to this soon enough and we will get the free firmware that we should be getting in the first place.

great, hopefully that is the case where we don't need a passcode for the firmware. Now hope is that someone upload that firmware.

I have an f series with remote start and when I remote start my car the radio comes on.. HOWEVER when I get in the car and put the key in the radio reboots. But it takes less than 1min for full the system to boot up so no biggie as to why people think that is too long. Remember dial up? back then we had no choice was would pray for 28kbs and was jumping for joy when 52kbs came out.. those were the days

If you have an ipod just use the new realplayer to download the youtube video and use it to convert the video then load it onto your ipod. I download youtube videos and play it on my f90bt through my iphone 3g

which state do they ship these from? I'm in NY and if it's shipped from the west coast ground it takes a week to get here and I'm not too inclined to pay $12 for 2nd shipping when they could have just post these at the post office and it comes in two days for less than $1. I'm in the processing of ordering now and my total is coming out to $70. Not sure if I need to buy now and in two days someone post the official firmware online. I could care less about the maps.

The unit is really big, never knew it was so big until I got it so I doubt it will fit behind any head unit. I got mine from ebay for $50 so shop around and don't pay $100+ when u can get it for 1/2 price. So far I've had it installed for a week and it's okay. Not the very best of sound but it will do. I only payed $20 for 5 month of service so all is good.

Think of other people and please do not watch dvd's while driving. Mine is bypass but I would never watch a movie while driving.

Called the 800# and told rep I got an offer in the mail to comeback for 5 months for $20 but I couldn't find the letter however she activated my f90bt no questions ask. I asked about the 1yr for $77 which she was going to put on but I just couldn't pull the trigger with paying so much but b4 the royalty thing kicks in on the 30th I may call back and get that instead. It was super super easy.. it's as if she didn't care she just wanted to get me off the phone which is how I like my CSR to be.

I think I'll wait for the official release... All I want is 3.0 so hopefully that file is not protected

I've also been using tethering on the iphone for weeks now. Let At&T try to build me for a service they don't offer. Since I've got my Iphone 3g in december I have never got 3g speed over 400KB.. pathetic, at least the tethering is fast.

I would really like to know myself.. every single step.. would save me $60

well that metal sheet suppied with my unit was too big so i cut it to the size of the antenna and place it on my dash.. No problem from it so far so knock on wood.

Nope, you will have to control it from the iphone itself.

I want to order this but I've read but didn't find my answer. So does 3.0 firmware basically turns my unit into an X series? And with the Maps on the SD card does that means for the new maps to work they have to be in the SD slot all the time.

Problem SOLVED!!!!! The cord I have got the ipod/iphone cable, a usb cord and a slot on the card to connect ubs devices. I was trying to connect it by only connecting the iphone cable into the phone and didn't realize I needed to connect the usb cord into the usb connector. I did all of that just now and my iphone is working fine.

So odds are the cable behind the radio isn't connected properly?
