  1. I just sent my F90BT out to Pioneer to get it repaired since it started the endless reboot cycle. The service rep on the phone asked if I had done the Parking Brake Bypass and I rofled in his general direction. No way in hell am I giving him any reason to deny me warranty service. There's no reason whatsoever that my having done the Hardware Bypass would have any effect on the software stability, seeing as I've had the bypass totally functional for more than a month before it started doing it. Roflservice.
  2. I can't state whether or not it looks better, but for sure the display should last longer and the brightness should remain more consistent over the years since LEDs do not fade in brightness.
  3. That's what the "Parking Brake Bypass" is for
  4. ** Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc. You would continue to use the updates for your unit. If there are any special circumstances, the instructions will be included. Thank You, Pioneer Support Group ** That didn't answer my question. Where can I find the updates for my unit? ** Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc. The link below will take you to the support page, where updates are posted. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... port?tab=F Thank You, Pioneer Support Group ** So from that, I'm gathering the X-Series updates are N
  5. There are tons somewhere in the previous 50 pages... I remember seeing them there when I was bored a few weeks ago and went through every page.
  6. +1 I do "secret shopping" as a side job, and I have run into this with both my previous GPS (Navigon) and my current (F90BT). It seems that sometimes you will have to figure out the alternate name for the Highway... for example, Route 30 is also known as Lancaster Ave. It doesn't necessarily have Route 30 as a road (even though it shows the "30" logo on the map, but it WILL respond if you type in Lancaster Ave. It's frustrating at best. But that was with Firmware/Maps 2.0. I haven't tried it with 3.0 to see if it's gotten better.
  7. I just sent Pioneer an email asking if the F-Series will continue to get firmware updates/if the X-Series updates are compatible with the F-Series. I will post my findings when I get a reply.
  8. In general, I will say I'm kinda bummed at how slow 3.0 is compared to 2.0. The map doesn't load as quickly, doesn't run as smoothly, and the routes don't calculate nearly as fast. As a whole, the 2.0 firmware seemed to be "lighter weight". I do like the improved button response and significantly better looking and functioning maps though (which is likely why the new firmware runs slower). And the new MSN Direct Traffic Flow makes the unit invaluable compared to many other gps systems on the market.
  9. If you did indeed buy the cards, that won't be difficult at all... they sent me like 4 emails about it and the record of sale is on the Pioneer website. If, on the other hand, you're lying and you downloaded an illegitimate copy of the 3.0 firmware (I'm not suggesting you did), it will be substantially more difficult to prove you bought the update.
  10. Maybe not, but it IS likely tied to the SD cards and the installation itself... so one activation code likely will not work with anyone elses SD card.
  11. Ahh ok.. I thought you meant without wiring the entire harness. Wiring just the positive and negative wires wouldn't take too long (just use some of these twisty things) http://www.wiringproducts.com/contents/ ... tlined.jpg. That way, it's easily reversible just for testing. Other than that, I'm not sure. Sorry.
  12. How did you get a tracking number? Did you upgrade your shipping or something? Mine just says shipped. Previously, mine said it shipped on the 7th, but I just got an invoice this evening with the ship date of today (10th), along with the tracking number
  13. The funniest thing about attacks on this forum: -All of my attacks are aimed at your incomprehensible methods of deduction. -All of your attacks are personal, despite knowing nothing about me. The difference is this: Your noobery is readily apparent and evidence-supported. You know nothing about me. None are your attacks are supportable. It's sad. You seem very defensive and easily offended. I'm not sure what your issue is, but it's pitiful.
  14. I would venture a guess to say that the compass is entirely based on direction of travel, and therefore would have a high probability of being incorrect when you're not moving. That's just a wild guess. It was that way with my previous GPS (Navigon).
  15. I think, from what I remember reading, that there are still no presets. But that doesn't mean this thread should turn into a "omg Pioneer still didn't fix this! blahblahblah thread", because I can't remember for a fact.
  16. Right. You just have to play with it for a while and spend some time fine tuning it to how you like. But it is indeed a semi-dependent 7 band EQ.
  17. I believe, and I could be mistaken, the program AVIC-FEEDS from Pioneer (http://pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Prod ... AVIC+FEEDS) lets you easily add and change background pictures. You will need a SD card or USB thumb-drive type device.
  18. I agree... I usually consult the internet, a medium mostly composed of opinions, instead of the manual which was written specifically for my device and lists exactly what I need and wish to know, thereby preventing the need for threads such as this. Lackluster logic at its best lol
  19. Interesting... it says it's not compatible with 64-bit operating systems, but I'm running it on Vista Ultimate x64 and it's having no problems thus far.
