  1. I've got 2.006 installed and noticed no real difference from the 2.0. However, my car has not been delivered yet so it's still sitting in its box in the mean time other than when I play with menus (I had one a while back with my old car for a short time but returned it when 2.0 wouldn't install). I'm personally not interested in test mode as 3.0 sounds like it will do everything I care to, and I want to keep my warranty unquestionable, so I haven’t looked into it. But if it's something easy to check on the device like a startup sequence I could look into it for you. Has anyone else
  2. Indeed, thanks for the video iaf_22! Sorry for taking up room in your thread.
  3. Again Noobs like you opening their mouths when they shoudn't need to shut the f*** up. I've dealt with plenty of important people on here and have been nothing but cordial as well as helped people out and never had any one talking crap to me. You couldnt just realize you shouldnt have opened your mouth and left it alone. You had to reply and continue right. Its people like you that important people like CMH and Specter left cause he didnt want to deal with the crap your giving me now. Please dont say anything else and leave me alone. Sorry, I'm not the one throwing a temper tantrum. If yo
  4. Thanks for proving my point. Makes you wonder why someone wouldnt reply to you... Enjoy
  5. Probably because you wrote this on the forum instead of a message and he can be legalally prosecuted if he does. Umm No! I actually pmed him and didnt receive a reply back after he has posted several times and was just curious if he even still had the files. Thanks for your input anyway but the question was directed toward him not you! Maybe he just doent want to do something illegal regardless then? And you're the one getting upset, nice... I'm sure the French / Europe maps would do you a lot of good in NY as well...
  6. Thanks to basstoy for finding the actual update on the Pioneer site in his thread here http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=25317 Here is the link to it http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Support/Navigation/Free+Firmware+Update+2.006+for+AVIC+F-Series+In-Dash+Models The rep I spoke to was close, it's aparently 2.006 not 2.16 Does not look like it does much though, the only language on the site as to what it does is as follows. This firmware update (version 2.006) contains important performance improvements relating to Automatic Time Correction, updated X
  7. Anyone using the ND-G500 amplifier (from/with the F500BT) on their stock factory amplified system (Bose, Infinity, Boston Acoustics)? I called Pioneer today looking for a suggestion on how to intigrate it with a Boston Acoustics factory amplified system and the tech support rep said as long as it is properly installed it should be no problem. They have several people using them in factory amplified systems like Bose & Infinity. Usually putting one amp in front of another is a big no-no, but maybe these OEM amps have high level inputs anyway?? Anyone on here doing this or try it
  8. *Edited, see below post* First of all, I didn’t post this in the 3.0 thread because it would just get lost in all the BS posts that do no good, and didn’t need another 10 pages of "OMG read the thread it was posted on page 21 post # 300 blah blah blah insert derogatory comment". So, let’s try to learn from that and NOT post a bunch of useless BS... I just got off the phone with pioneer tech support; I was calling about wiring my F500, but asked about 3.0 since I had him on the phone. He stated 3.0 will not be available as a no map, non-IGO software only free update,
  9. There was a single post somewhere around here recently that claimed a Pioneer rep stated that a 3.0 update would be available without maps and without the IGO 8.3 at no charge, but I have no idea how accurate that is. The rep could have been clueless, or the guy posting could have misunderstood, who knows.
  10. Do they make them with headphone plugs instead of RCA's by any chance? Too much inbetween to go from unit -> converter -> amp -> converter -> cable -> car input (mine is not on head unit )-> factory stereo So much for this being an easy solution to adding nav to a new car that does not offer it with a VERY integrated head unit (controlls features of car, stereo controlls in with air controlls). Might have to look more into what can be done to use the amp on a factory amplified stereo but that doesnt sound like fun either as the factory amp is in the trunk.
  11. Do you have the volume turned up all the way, it's a pain but I've heard you have to do it every time you get in. I know it's low, but hoping cranking the volume will do the trick, my car is still on order so wont know for a while still If that's not enough, let me know what you find for a headphone jack amp, didnt even think to look if they exist! Cant use the Pioneer amp like I hoped as the stereo will be factory amplified, and it has like 9 speakers anyway... So much for that idea, wish I could intigrate it a little more into the factory setup, but guess that just wont be happeni
  12. So much for just grounding the e-brake cable... Anyone else have any other suggestions outside of the software mod? And did you loose any GPS functonality while moving?
  13. I wouldn't think the software hack should be necessary with just the power plugged directly into the unit, but maybe it is. If you do use the mount with the intigrated cable and ground the e-brake cable would you still need the software hack?
  14. From a quick search online looks like it does have the standard headphone audio out jack, but does not say anything about iPod connectivity or back up camera, I'm guessing it does not have those? Just curious what you paid for the Garmin, I recently bought the F500BT so I paid a lot less for it than you did, but considering maybe the Garmin for the wife's car since hers does not have the headphone jack in.
  15. You were using only the power cable directly to the unit (not going through the mount) and it would not work? That is odd.
  16. I saw this a while back and thought about it, but decided I'd rather plug it in once (and charge it while doing so) and use the voice command on the unit rather than have to mess with the phone every time I want to do something different with it.
  17. Thank you very much for verifying. Will it work without the software hack as well? Or is the software side of things required on the F500BT? If you don't use the mount cable & just plug power directly into the unit & use an audio out cable is a bypass necessary at all?
  18. I'm so glad I spend time reading all the useful posts like these instead of the boring ones like the update being only $70 for it's introductary sale price. This thread would probably be 3 pages of useful info if you took out all of the BS and repeating everything 10x.
  19. As has been previously stated, the cards will have a specific key, likely partially generated based off of your units serial number. So they likely will only be able to be used on your device & not shared unless someone can hack / crack them (which wont be known until they are released).
  20. Is the hardware bypass for the F500BT simply grounding the e-brake cable? The cabeling for the F500BT is not the same as the F series head units, so you can't do the wire swap found in the other main F series bypass thread. I don't want to rely on the software bypass as I plan to upgrade to 3.0 when it is available soon, and I think 3.0 would provide most of the features I want without having to hack the unit. I would just like to be able to fully use GPS while moving, and have video available for my passenger. Thank you!
  21. The processor in the F-series is a 600MHz SiRF Titan dual-core ARM11. Same one used in other PNAs like the HP iPaq 310 series. ARM1136EJ1 core, ARM V6 instruction set. Summary of the proc's at http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a11gst Thanks... so in my opinion the X and the F series are the same units inside, the only difference is where they placed the Pioneer logo and new knob. Just a marketing ploy to make people forget all the issues of the F-series had. I read on here somewhere that the X will have A2DP capability, if that is true then it would have to have different BT
  22. From what I have read elsewhere on here, the F series Parrot BT hardware lacks the capability of A2DP. The iPhone has always had the capability, it was just never programed (on Apple's end) to be usable. So while Apple's SW update fixed the iPhone, Pioneer's (funny how they're both 3.0 now eh? ) will not give the F series A2DP streaming... According to multiple posts on various forums I've read.
  23. As was said many times here, track-up in 2D and road signs = iGO 8.3/ Also, this is why you need new maps, maps are not compatible between 8.0 and 8.3
  24. I dont know if the Australia equipment came with the rebate in the box or not. Mine (USA) certainly did not include any kind of a rebate with it, and I have not seen anything on the Pioneer US site about a rebate for it either. It may just be an offer for Australia at this point, but certainly would be appreciated here for people that have recently purchased.
  25. Someone posted in another thread that in Australia if you purchased between Nov 2008 - June (July?) 09 you got a mail in rebate to get the update for free. Considering my F500BT was delivered literally 2 days ago, that would certainly be a nice option, especially since thier list price of $130 is not that much less than I paid for the entire unit, with iPhone cable and amplifier...
