  1. Thanks! That's a little more clear. And we finally got someone to give a straight answer on the GPS antenna thing, which has been floating around a few threads in this forum! lol I imagine the wiring diagrams that come with the unit are helpful, but just in case, here's a potential backup wiring diagram... http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio- ... awing.html Bottom line answer to the guy's original question: Pioneer had to go and change the *#@&%^$ harness for some friggin' reason...and they had to change the connector on the end of the GPS antenna wire. It is NOT a strai
  2. Hmmm... A little more confused now...LOL. We're three levels of quoting deep, now...and that's just two hard to parse... So, to clarify... 1. WHICH color harness DOES NOT require any re-wiring? White or black? 2. Which color is the "main" harness when you say "main"? 3. For the plug that DOES require re-wiring, how many total changes are we talking? Is it just moving the mute wire over to accomplish the bypass, or is more than that? 4. What does "probably" have to rewire mean? lol 5. Does the existing GPS antenna plug fit or not?? 6. Can someone jus
  3. Hmm...sounds like two TOTALLY different stories here, guys...
  4. Did you have to crimp or splice anything, or did you just pull out wires and put them back in the right place(s) in the new harness? Are all the colors the same? Also, people on here have said the XM antenna isn't the same (sounds weird to me)....did the old one fit? Also, what else was different in the install overall?
  5. It won't work for ANYBODY starting in Jan 2012...lol. Perhaps it's time to switch to Kenwoods? Or hope Pioneer has a R-TDS or XM NavTraffic replacement comeing out soon to replace the MSN tuners they sold everyone??
  6. If recent history is any guide, Pioneer starts offering discounts and clearing out inventory when they're about to roll out a new unit and stop supporting the existing ones....they've probably got something coming that doesn't require the soon-to-die MSN service for traffic, etc. Bastards.
  7. When you make shitty decks, that's what happens. But seriously, they scrapped iGo to use their own in-house nav and it's awful. That sort of bean counter move to save a few bucks will ultimately lead to lost profit and customers. Guess Pioneer didn't do well with economics 101. Pioneer has definitely made some odd decisions. Although I think iGo and their own in-house nav were equally shitty. Still not sure why they didn't just license Garmin, Tom Tom, or Magellan software like all their competition. For example, Kenwoods all use Garmin's navigation software and Parrot's B
  8. Really??? I'm not sure...my fear is that Pioneer will simply use this as a reason to sell us all completely NEW $1000 head units once MSN goes away....they certainly haven't gone out of their way to give new customers a warm fuzzy that they have a replacement option in mind. Unless Pioneer comes out with a statement that they are even considering a replacement option or accessory (FM, HD, TDS, Navteq online, whatever) It's very hard to see why any new customer would want to purchase the current line of Pioneer AVIC units...the Kenwoods rely on proven traffic technology that's going t
  9. Guys: Has ANYONE heard anything new from Pioneer about offering ANY other traffic option after MSN Direct goes away??? I know there are tons of threads in here about MSN Direct leaving in Jan 2012... but not as much about ANY replacement options (if any). I've seen folks saying there's currently no FM-RDS, TMS, etc. Am I wrong, or is Pioneer simply going to tell everyone we're out of luck and use this as a reason for us to all buy new $1000 nav units in Feb 2010? That seems like pretty foul pool to me...bad karma. - JD
  10. LOL...why would "Nav features" be a priority for a Nav unit?? That's just crazy...hahaha
  11. LOL...I seriously doubt they'll even bother anymore. Even the FIRST map updates for the D3 were waaay delayed and outdated by the time they came out. These guys don't really seem to be strong in terms of product support....
  12. So which is it...hit it AFTER BT connects or BEFORE BT connects??? You state BOTH at the same time in your post....
  13. Are they going to fix this bug in a software update???
  14. Guys: Even Crutchfield, which never has the best price on anything, has a huge rebate going for the Z110BT. Beware....if history is any guide, Pioneer is about to launch a new model....last time they did a huge rebate, it was on the D3 and it was to clear the shelves for the new F-series that nobody knew they were going to launch at the time. After the rebate period, they quickly lessened their support for the D3. The same thing may be about to happen here...mysterious rebate in anticipation of a new model, followed by less support for the older stuff? Of course, an alternativ
  15. Okay...that's good info on the electronics harness. Thanks. Problem: I'm hearing conflicting info on the GPS antenna and microphone. Some people say they're exactly the same...no change. But this guy says they are DIFFERENT: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=29120&p=199772#p199772 Who's correct?
  16. @1loudls: Thanks...that helps a little bit, but I was hoping for a more definitive list of known differences. Hasn't ANYONE moved from the D3 to the 710 or the 910 on here? I think you're saying the steering wheel control and speed pulse unit (CANPULSE4 in my case) should work, along with the harness that goes with it. However, you're saying the major harnesses for all the audio, etc. MAY or MAY NOT be the same. Um...will it be obvious? Do the harnesses LOOK the same, but with different pinouts, or are you saying the entire harness and plug are different??? Also, what about
  17. Derk: Take a look at my original post on this topic if you would: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=28925 Can you post there with more specifics? For example, I've been told the microphone is EXACTLY the same on the D, F, and X series. Are you SURE it changed? It looks like the exact same microphone. Same question for the GPS antenna...one of the head honchos of this forum has said the antenna and connector is exactly the same. If you look at photos of the rear of the D and X series, the GPS and mic connectors sure LOOK identical. See if you can post back at my original question
  18. Dude: I already asked the same question....my post already has some of the info you're asking about and is asking for more details. Did you not see it?? Look: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=28925 - JD
  19. All: Too bad Pioneer removed the NavTraffic feature from the newer XM tuners and AVIC models...not that it was that great, either. Pioneer should have preserved MULTIPLE options for a feature as central to modern in-car nav systems as TRAFFIC. They chose to rely soley on MSN, and now they're stuck. The newer Kenwood car navigation head units units use navigation from Garmin now and use the traffic message channel (TMC) over the FM airwaves. That's never going away, so the Kenwoods will keep working darn near forever.... Questions for Pioneer: 1. Is it technically pos
  20. All: What is the entire list of changes -- especially install harness/wiring changes -- to move from a D3 (with the BTB200 and older XM tuner) to an X710BT? Here's what I know so far: - KEEP Old XM tuner (GEX-P10XMT...will work w/IP bus, just won't get NavTraffic) - KEEP old GPS antenna - KEEP old microphone - KEEP old AM/FM antenna adapter (or upgrade to better one ...) - REMOVE BTB200 (Won't need it for Bluetooth anymore) - REMOVE old iPod cable and buy the new one for the F/X series Unknowns: - Will Soundgate CANPULSE4 & CAN-PIO harness (speed signal and steer
  21. Okay, so you're 100% sure the X-series supports *both* the PBAP and the OPP profiles?
  22. Does anyone know what Bluetooth profiles are supported by the X-Series AVIC units? For example, does it support the Bluetooth.... ...Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP), which would allow it to access phone books automatically on our phones if they support PBAP? Or does one still have to transfer contacts one at a time to the AVIC X-Series, using the... ...Object Push Profile (OPP)? ...What about AV2P, etc? All I can find is that some of the X-series AVIC units are Bluetooth 1.2 certified. But that's just the Bluetooth communication standards level they are compliant with.
