  1. Will this work if you already have a subsciption? -D
  2. so I installed the CD-IB100II on my AVIC-Z1 which already has the blue tooth and XM with traffic attached. I can control, charge, and see data from the iPhone but I get no sound. Currently the iPod interface is daisy chained to the unit through the XM w/ nav unit. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! Best, David
  3. so I have a AVIC-Z1 series (one of the last models made) bypassed with the two wire and parking break technique. If I upgrade my AVIC-Z1 to -Z2 status buy purchasing the upgrade discs through Pioneer, then this unlock hack will work in my car to bypass the unit? Is there any further step to do after this? Thanks in advance! -David
  4. No one has tried yet though right? I mean, the upgrade discs arent out yet. -David
  5. Hold on, let me get this straight. You are saying that if I run the upgrade disc on my new Z1 (Ground to bypass) to get Z2 capability, that the Z1 will no longer be bypassed? I hope I am just misunderstanding!?!? -David
  6. I did the grounding smmtech recomends and mine works great! Is your unit refurbished? I would check the manuafacture date. The last batch 12/2006 sill allowed for the 3 ground wire trick.
  7. Does anyone know how to transfer the ENTIRE phone book from the Motorola Q without doing it one by one? Thanks! David
  8. Does anyone know how to upload the phone book for the Q specifically? Thanks! David
  9. I conected my XM module to my Z1 and it says not present... both cables where used but not the IP power bus as stated in the manual. Any help? Thanks! David
  10. I was curious if I can ground all three wires together in my '07 STI or if they each need to different ground screws? Thanks! David
  11. What about mounting the two antennas next to each other? Thanks! David
  12. Does anyone know if it is ok to mount the GPS and the XM antenna on that same little metal plate or are you only supposed to mount the GPS there so if doesn't affect the reception of the NAV? Also, Whats the consensus on mounting right below the PLASTIC paneling on the dash? Does it affect reception? Thanks! David

And this will still work while driving if the system isnt in bypass mode (grounded)? Thanks! David

    AUX Input

I just received one of the last batches of Z1's and am going to install it in my '07 STI limited this Monday. I have a quick question. In the STI there is an aux jack built into where the ash tray would be. I am going to cut the wires on the back and solder a set of RCA cables to the Cars aux jack. My question is as followed: Am I right in thinking that I attach the newly soldered RCA cables to the Z1s Audio input cables? Will I be able to use this to plug my aux inputs into the jack and listen while driving (the Z1 will not be in bypass mode)? I wont have anything connected to the
  15. I really appreciate everyones replies. I am still curiouis though if I can mount the antenna on the windshield upside down with the stick side pointed up or will this still interfere with reception?
  16. Does it make a difference if they are mounted sticky side up or installed "correctly" with the adhesive side facing down? Anyone know?!? Thanks! David
  17. Is it possible to mount the GPS and XM antennas to the inside of the driver windshield? This would mean they would be upside down. Does anyone know if this would work?

    Z1 or Z2?!?!?

So I have a dilemma and I would like as much input as possible. Crutchfield just received the LAST shipment of the Z1's before the Z2's come out in April. I really want to put a AVIC Z1 or 2 in my car and I am curious if I should wait for the upgrades or just get the Z1 now and then pay the 200 bucks which everyone is going to do anyway? Thanks! David
  19. I thought that the Z1's illumination wire needed to be hooked to a source that turned on and off with the head lights and that the console does not. I didn't look but I am assuming that the radio wire harness does the same feature as the turbo gauge... and that it is a 12v source? If this is the case what was the big post in regards to this for the New STI's? Thanks! David
  20. I would contact Motorola. I got there blue tooth hands free portable kit for the car and in the beginning I could voice dial but now I cant. I think there is a feature on the phone but school hasn't let me have enough time to play with it David
  21. Ok, so I was reading a post about how the instrument cluster on the new STI's are always illuminated therefor (if I understood this correctly) making the illumination wire null as far as full functionality from it on the AVIC-Z1. My question is the following: Can you hook the illumination wire through the turbo gauge back light since that only comes on with the light switch? Thanks! David
  22. Thanks Kevin! Im assuming the upgrade does not include the cost of new maps . David
  23. Thanks Guys! Kevin, out of curiosity, has the availability of an upgrade been announced or is this just assumed? Thanks! David
  24. So should I wait for the Z2 or should I take my Z1 and be happy?
  25. What is the Z2 going to be like? Why has Crutchfield not told me this? Should I cancel my order and get the Z2 if they are waiting to give me the Z1? Is Pioneer going to update their site? Sorry for all the questions lol. Thanks! David
