  1. Mods, this last post by Nillaz needs to be a sticky. There are answers in there that I've been searching for quite some time now. I know others have as well. Thank you Nillaz for taking the time to help with this. I can't tell you how much it's appreciated.
  2. This really appears to be the answer and I am probably going to go this way. I have a question that you may or may not be able to asnwer. I know you have to root your phone (my son is an executive with a major carrier and he's having heartburn over this.) My current phone is a Droid Maxx. MHL is not supported by the look of things. Does rooting the phone allow MHL? This phone does not have an HDMI port, so an MHL adapter would be required. Otherwise, I need to go to a Droid Razr Maxx HD that has HDMI. Does using ARU Reloaded get you past the phone restrictions placed by Pioneer? T
  3. Isn't the S4 2G and 3G only? No 4G?
  4. jhren, sure enough...I had to look for myself. My information didn't come from the manual though. It came from the website. I can't recall exactly where, but it was specific to FAT32 only. I'll have to find it again.
  5. Thanks nillaz...I am going to look into doing just that.
  6. I actually believe Pioneer states you must use fat32...which surprised me.
  7. This is all great information. I sure wish I had waited a week for the new 8100. Didn't even think about it. Dumb. It sounds like iPhone is better adapted to this unit...which doesn't surprise me. But I really don't want to give up Google. xtelosx, does your Galaxy allow the use of Waze or Google Maps without being rooted? If so, that may be good enough for me. joemmamma1954...Are you saying that the AppRadio app I downloaded from the Play Store will not work with this? It was free. It even said it was for Pioneer. I sure wish I had a better handle on all this stuff.
  8. If you were to pick a phone to use with the 8000, which one would you choose and why? Here is what I'm after. I'm after a phone that will allow me to use Waze and/or Google Maps on the 8000. I'm sure there will be other apps I want to use some day, but those are the big two. One or the other...or both. (I guess using Google leaves iPhone out) But I would consider iPhone if it works extremely well with Waze. Please let me know your thoughts. I have a Droid Maxx right now, but it doesn't have the HDMI port to it and it looks like that will be necessary to use a Droid phone the way I
  9. One of the worst mapping programs I've ever seen. I just need to find a way to get Waze or Google Maps on there. I have to tell you...when it comes to mapping software, the old Z1,2,3 units kick this one's butt big time.
  10. You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. Steve Jobs screwed his people up one side and down the other. For example...he sold one of his phones for an outrageous price (and the phone was a POS to boot) and when he discovered he was way overpriced, he dropped the price to near half of what it was. And the folks who stepped up and paid the freight the first time?? He said sorry...screw you. Yea...a top notch company. There are a lot of companies who are extremely successful who have put track marks up the back of the customers to get there. Apple leads the bunch of them.
  11. You've got to love Jobs for being such an ass that Google told him to pound sand and now...as is usually the case with Apple...the consumer takes it in the back side. Hate to speak ill of the dead, but that man created a lot of heartache for his consumers. What I don't understand it how people like Pioneer (and others) cater most of their programming and offerings to this company. There are millions more Android phones out there than iphones.

    Map views

Please tell me I'm wrong or just flat don't understand my 8000NEX yet... I have gone in and set my map view to "far". Still not panned out far enough for a lot of my needs. So I 'pinch' it out, or use the "+ or -" buttons and it moves in or out accordingly...but the map quits following me and locks where I made the change. Plus, it adds a bunch if icons so you can hardly see the darn thing. Is there a way to pan the map in or out to where I want it and KEEP it there and actively moving? Also, there isn't a lot of information showing regarding street names. After a search here, som
  13. Please post your location and shop. There are many here who want to make darn good and sure to stay away from a hack outfit such as yours. The wires are there for a reason. Engineers far above your skill level have taken the time and expense to put them there. An installation job includes doing the job correctly AND COMPLETELY.
  14. You are right about that. I forgot about the extra data connection needed. Pioneer is about to piss me off enough to go to a Kenwood DNX9960. If it weren't for the fact I have all the extras like XM, HD Radio, etc already installed for the Pioneer products, I would do it in a heartbeat. Being able to add POI's like red light cameras, etc is also very nice. I know the Kenwood is a bit more 'clunky' than the Pioneer, but at least they offer what we want. I just don't want to have to buy all new peripherals to match it.
  15. I have my doubts about that vblue. It is just like Pioneer to leave their people who bought this technology hanging out there (not their fault this time), but it wouldn't surprise me to see them come up with a way to update these systems to NavTraffic. I'm trying to remember what my XM Navtraffic receiver includes...but I believe everything is on the BUS, so it's possible that all they need is the firmware to display it on the screen. To be honest, this is what's stopping me from buying a new Pioneer Nav right how. I use the traffic.
  16. I always thought Pioneer made a huge mistake leaving XM NavTraffic. If they wanted to jump in bed with Billy, that's fine...many have and have never regretted a second of it. But to just leave NavTraffic in the dust was foolish IMO. And now their chickens have come home to roost. Has anyone heard what Pioneer plans to do about a traffic service? I imagine they are left with NavTraffic, or trying to incorporate Google maps/traffic somehow. More importantly, for everyone who bought one of these units with MSN Direct who need traffic, does anyone know if there can be a firmware update that
  17. You have it powered (wired) up wrong. If you use the IP BUS, you only need one of the two leads connected to power...and it must be to a constant 12V...not a switched. You more than likely have it to a switched power supply so it loses it's 'memory' every time you turn the key off. Read your instructions carefully. Either the red or yellow doesn't get attached when using the BUS.
  18. Garrett, are these fuses soldered in? Something tells me they are. This is a very common issue with Pioneer audio units...not just the Z. Go surfing some other forums and mention this problem and they all send you directly to a fuse replacement. Next time I order something from them, I'm going to get a couple of extras.
  19. "Adjusting" the antenna should make no difference as long as it's flat and on a good metal surface for a ground plane. It could care less how it's oriented.
  20. It's in the manual...but tough to figure out what they say. But I just had to do this and IIRC, it took a level 3 reset. Maybe level 4...now I can't remember! LOL
  21. Use an antenna splitter and keep the analog features of the internal radio. Then use the digital radio by itself through an EXT button. Get the 20 series though...the 10 series has some drawbacks that the 20 series doesn't.
  22. Be sure and double check the instructions. You don't use all the power cables if you use the IP Bus cable. Other than that, the only thing I can figure is a poor connection.
  23. Just don't expect that microphone to help you out much with an echo. That's a software issue.
  24. I don't know...Plaxico is near the top of my list. Right under Michael Vick and next to Charles Barkley. Talk about idiots flushing huge careers...
  25. I crossed that pass on July 4th several years ago. It snowed 6 inches on top that day. July 4th mind you...
