  1. UC == US and Canada, EW == Europe. There is a need to differentiate the model SKUs of each AVIC meant for different markets since each has different tuner features unique to that market (like TMC in EW, MSN Direct in UC). Does this mean that if I have a UC X710BT model without the MSN Direct, I can use the FW 3.0202 from the its european counterpart? Thanks.
  2. So you are talking about the F500BT then ... sorry .
  3. Abb, please re-read my post. Current speed != Speed limit. .
  4. The menu system will be the same as those of X710BT and X910BT.
  5. OK then. You know Abb, the current speed has been removed in the past because we found it odd under the compass, and I think that was better (removed) ... We still can choose the current speed field, somewhat smaller, from navi settings ... The speed limit, however is something nice to add. So I would suggest, if you could, put back also the elevation in the place of the current speed, then the speed limit. When one wants to bring back the menu, he only has to hit the elevation sign. So you will have, tight and nice: Time Compass Elevation Speed Limit
  6. How about your hidden MENU button (space taken up by the current speed in the pic)? .
  7. The short answer is NO. Pioneer AVIC use ezrider.exe to load the iGo navigation software instead of iGo.exe, because there are hardware related code within the loader. .
  8. Abb, are the current speed text and speed limit sign only displayed during simulation or even during normal navigation? How about your hidden MENU button (space taken up by the current speed in the pic)?
  9. Anybody know the difference(s) between the US FW 3.0201 and the european FW 3.0202? Thanks. .
  10. Sorry Chuck, you would be at the bottom of a very long list . Before any of my friends shop for ANY electronics, they check with me first as always, what I have is better than what they want That is what I thought, and your friends must always tell you that "I am glad, and this is what friends is for ... by buying/taking over your stuffs!".
  11. Looks like 18,733,836 bytes Here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ynzzaol4lfj/Originals.zip Strange ... I have the one from the FW 3.0, its size is 18,702,296 bytes (download from the link of this forum) and the other FW 3.0202 (european version), its size is 18,719,528 bytes (download from official Pioneer european website). Any thoughts??? .
  12. Hey 34by151, It is not my intent to speak about the environmental issue, but just make modders aware of the fact (limited write cycle of Flash) and make sure I don't have a nice piece of software but only to shorten the life of my AVIC. With this been said, I will be the first one to try your mod once released . Until then ... let's continue enjoying modding. .
  13. How is that possible? Technology is changing at an alarming rate. In five years these systems will be so outdated. To me, this is all a hobby. I build my own computers since '99 and keep them up to date with the latest technology as it comes out. Tv's have a longer expectancy, I usually keep them for three years. Gps systems on the other hand need to be updated regularly or even yearly. I still have a TomTom system from 2005 that does not even have two streets in my neighborhood that have been there for 30 years. It also doesn't have Airport Rd in Toronto where Pearson International Airport is
  14. If you left the SD card in with the Testmode folder, then it is normal that it goes into the WinCE screen again. You have to remove the SD card with Testmode folder stored to let AVIC boot to the main screen. .
  15. ** My editing comes too late ... Well, that is a bit expensive for me to replace every one or 2 years. I would expect it to last the whole time I own my vehicule . Who else could?
  16. I still wouldnt worry about that. The internal flash would still probably outlast your Avic. If all depends Abb, if the script is recording at every 30 seconds to the same memory spot (location), and you are driving 2 hours per days in average, then with 10,000 write cycles, your AVIC's memory spot will wear out in just 42 days (NOT YEARS) Hein what?
  17. Complaining is not my intent, no harm and enjoy modding . .
  18. That is good info indeed. So the control as to where to write data is in Sys.txt, which is good. But if you guys expect lot of writings, you still have to provide the Sys.txt to write externally to the SD card, just for safety and prevent newbies from wearing out their internal flash. Many thanks!
  19. Did you make a search before asking? Thera are lot of talks in this forum regarding Branding.zip. This will answer pretty much what you are asking for: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=18428
  20. Sincerely thank you to both of you ... I am just kind of CAN'T WAIT ... BTW, I posted the following previously and I am sure that you guys already knew what I am talking about ... just want to make sure as you said almost everything is configurable, so lot of writing will be performed to the Flash Quted "As for the realtime logging, it should never be considered as a solution because Flash memories are bonded with limited number of write cycles, so if you write very frequently to the same spot of memory, then it will eventually fail. Most Flash memory only lasts 10,000 write cycles
  21. This is cause by the left-over of the navi nag message hacked. There are also some other unexpected return places somewhere else but nothing major, you will be used to it.
  22. LOL kind of weird, maybe newbies dare to try, but only PRO.
  23. You know what Abb, 3D buildings are in stored in the BUILDING folder, and you can use the same BUILDING for both NT and TA maps, so just use the one with more buildings for your area. I always use 3D buildings files from TA, even with NT maps.
  24. I am still impressed that people didn't ask the question, now in page 3 of the thread ... they are good!
  25. Abb, When you were driving in the Toronto area, does the following holds true: "Here in Canada, NT does provide lane info but lacks of speed limits. TA does provide speed limits but lacks of lane info. What is the joke? We are into 2010 now " Anybody knows something else?
