  1. OK, so I'm a total idiot. I totally spaced on the part where you very clearly said try to manually create the APL3 subdirectory and update again. When I manually put the APL3 subdirectory on the SD card, the update completed successfully Thanks!
  2. I just did that, after re-downloading the zip file from the Pioneer website and reformatting the SD card and I got the same result. I guess I'll try getting the SD card from Pioneer??
  3. Hello, I tried loading this firmware update this morning and everything was going just fine until I received the following error: Search Error: Storage Card\LPUE080\APL3\*.* I checked the original zip file I downloaded from Pioneer and there was no APL3 subdirectory in LPUE080. I even tried redownloading the zip file, only to get the same results. Pioneer is telling me now that I have to send my 900BT in to have it reloaded. Has anybody else had this problem?
  4. I'm printing out your reply as I speak. Thanks!
  5. I did a brief search and didn't see this problem reported by anybody so here goes. I've noticed that when I shut my car off, my radio station on my 900BT changes. For instance, if I was listening to 102.1 FM, when I turn off the ignition radio station drops to 101.9. Whatever radio station I'm listening to, the FM tuner always drops by 1/10 of a MHz. Because the 900BT stays on (even with the ignition turned off) until I open the car door I can actually see this happen. Has anybody else experienced this?
  6. My local dealer is telling me that they (Pioneer) are having technical issues with the 900BT, which is why they don't have them in yet and why I don't have one installed yet. Has anybody else heard that?
  7. At this time Pioneer doesn't know how the new F units will get updated navigation data and referred me to TeleAtlas. I spoke with the peeps at TeleAtlas and was told that while they do distribute updates to their business partners quarterly it is up to their partners to format the data for use in their devices and referred me back to Pioneer.
  8. While waiting for my dealer to get the 900BT in stock I had a chance to play with the 700BT and it appears that the nav data is no more current than what Pioneer released last year. There's still a few streets in my area that were completed Mar 2007 that still aren't showing up.
  9. The 90BT includes the Pioneer iPod cable, according to Pioneer
  10. Here are a couple of my iPod wishlist items: 1. I'd like to see the cover art displayed on the AV screen, since I go to such great lengths to make sure every track on my iPod has cover art. 2. If I'm in Map/Navigation mode, I'd like to see the Artist and Song title display briefly at the bottom of the screen. I noticed it does do this if you hit Next/Previous track from the steering wheel control. Shouldn't be that difficult to have it happen all the time.
  11. Since I'm one of the aforementioned "idiots" I won't feel bad asking a stupid question. But how exactly does the 26 playlists method make things a lot faster? As a test I created a smart playlist for Artists starting with "B", which gave me a list of 193 songs. Let's say I'm in the mood for Billy Joel, so I pull up my B Artist playlist and have to scroll down 84 songs (5 at a time) till I got to Billy Joel's songs. And while I can see this would be faster than getting to Billy Joel via the Artist Search, I would still have to know the name of every Billy Joel song I have so I w
  12. I think the maps for my area (Anchorage, Alaska) are even worse. Not only were streets & POIs present for years missing, but I've made a couple of trips where the Z1 basically just threw up its hands and told me it didn't know how to direct me any more. $250 is far too much to pay for updates that should have been way more accurate to begin with. If Pioneer couldn't do navigation in Alaska right, they shouldn't have done it at all.
  13. The people who installed my Z1 used the Peswix module so I could retain use of my steering wheel controls. Everything seemed to work OK, except every now and then the Z1 would switch sources automatically. There was one time where the Z1 switched sources every 1-2 seconds over a period of 5 minutes. The installers tried reprogramming the steering wheel controls and even replaced the Peswix (twice) - all to no avail. At my suggestion they programmed all the buttons except the Source button, which has been the only thing that has worked. Has anybody else seen this behavior?
  14. I actually had a Pioneer support representative suggest the unplug-find-replug method to me on one of my many calls to them complaining about how they need to improve their iPod interface. And while it works great, it's not something I'd recommend doing while driving!
  15. According to the dealer I got my Z1 from, the update will only be downloadable by dealers and the cost would be around the $250 range. The time schedule is also supposed to be in the Mar-Apr timeframe. And the updates are only to the mapping. No changes to the iPod interface will be in this update. :x But there's been so many stories flying around about this update, what my dealer told me could be complete fiction.
