  1. "I measured the current at the HU location, or more precisely where my reverse wire is connected to the HU reverse signal (I used a male/female connector for easy removal)" "Now I'm out of idea. It's getting a reading in reverse all the way to the HU, so if something is wrong, it's either hardware inside the HU or a software issue. I don't know what to do from there" Just to clarify, are you getting your voltage measurements at the HU or at a connector before the HU? If you haven't tried this already you could poke a pin or needle, connected to your volt meter with a clip lead, into
  2. Your first post sounds like the reverse input signal is not reaching the unit. Bad fuse in the extension lead maybe? Were you measuring the 13V and 0V at the back of the unit? I'm not sure why it would only stay on 30 seconds now when you switch polarity to ground.
  3. I think it's just the way things are with these units. When I bought mine I was hoping I could use a USB key just like a CD but that does not seem to be the case. Slow boot up, always starts over from the beginning, not always recognized. My SD card always appears on the menu but otherwise it's functions are equally disappointing. I don't have an Ipod but I read on this forum somewhere that they work well in the USB jack.
  4. Follow instructions here viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25751 or here viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25817 The files you need are available from the megaupload links here viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25751&start=585#p203900
  5. If you don't get the first part, pushing the 4 buttons, just right it will restart after 10 seconds. Here's some comments from this post viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25751 I never heard a pop sound from my speakers when I did it. Step 4: Turn unit on. When the pioneer logo comes up, press and hold the menu, map, eject and the reset button at the same time. When you hear a pop sound from your speakers, let go of the eject button but continue to hold menu and map buttons. This will bring you to a blue screen where you will have to enter the service combination. Press the volume knob in t
  6. If you change the 94 that is highlighted to 8f it should make TN all eastern time. If you live in eastern Tennessee maybe that would be better for you.
  7. Well, I explained it as best I could. It's a mistake in the database. In the case of TN, it says there is one time zone, central. I've read that people have told Pioneer about these problems but I guess they're not too interested in fixing it. I think newer units use different software so maybe they don't have this problem. Just don't go to eastern Tennessee and everything will be fine.

  9. Maybe check your ground and power connections. When I got my unit (off ebay) I bench tested it, worked fine. When I installed it everything was good. I listened to it while I finished putting the dash back together and cleaned up. The next day, first drive, it started doing the reboot thing. I found that the metal I had grounded to wasn't well connected to the frame. So I found a better place to ground it but that didn't fix the reboot problem. Next day I found this web site and followed the directions for reloading the files and my unit has been good ever since. Thank you AVIC411! So I think
  10. The brown rca connector is the input for the rear view camera, is that where you have it pluged in? If it's not that you could bring a tv out to your driveway and plug the camera cable into it to make sure the camera works.
  11. I guess you could try formating the flash disc in the unit as described here viewtopic.php?f=33&t=25424&hilit=reboot then reload all the files
  12. If that didn't fix it then I don't know what else to tell you.
  13. It can be a bit tricky getting that blue screen to come up. I never hear a pop sound from my speakers like the post describes. Turn your key on then push map, menu and eject at the same time, keep holding them down and then push the reset with a pencil or something for about 5 secs, let it go and the blue screen should come up after about 5 secs. When it does you can release all the buttons and procede. The blue screen will say "push reset again", don't do that.

  15. Sounds like you need to do this viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25751 Here's another post about it with pictures viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25817
