  1. Random works with pressing up or down (at least on my steering wheel and dvd remote). come to think....there is no up and down on the D3 eh? Well, if you have a remote, you can use that.
  2. Congrads. I've had mine since launch...love it. I actually ran into the same thing from my shop....it was working. But I tinkered with it and it stopped working, so I did the full bypass anyway. For your 2nd question, i'm not too sure, I have Sprint...we only have one Nokia I believe.
  3. Wow, talk about saving wire running from floor board hassle. Haha, good install man.
  4. Yeah I have a steering wheel remote and the DVD remote...up and down change presets for me.
  5. I ripped mine out like an idiot...luckily nothing got messed up.
  6. Haha yeah...my hands were certainly not steady nor was it bright enough to keep it in focus for the video. The pains of having a crappy camera.
  7. And for you guys I have included blurry install pics and a video review: Video Review Link: Cheers!
  8. Exactly what the question asks. I have an image I want to make the splash screen, but don't know how to load it on. If anyone could be of assistance that would be great.
  9. Hey guys, I have the AVIC-D3 and i've seen some custom splash screens on this site and I was wondering if anyone thinks they could make a nice Mazda one. I would try, but I am lacking in photoshoping skills to say the least. Thanks in advance if anyone can pull something cool off.
  10. In their defense, a crap load of orders are coming for this unit, esp. since they were still working to update fitting chart for it as well. I'm sure it'll be cleared up by tomorrow. I preordered mine and it happened to ship the first day available so I was rather happy.
  11. Yeah, you're all set on that one.
  12. Thats the thing...thats what WAS happening. I just tested it now going 40...no lock out.
  13. He called and let me know he can't by pass the unit for me. I had already moved the cellular mute wire into the bottom pin of the harness. I tried the nav while moving right after I got my car and it shut off. So it wasn't working before. The most I did was move the cellular mute wire from the bundled wires it was connected to. I honestly have no idea how this is working right now.
  14. So can someone explain this? I just got my D3 installed today and they did not ground the cell wire for the bypass. So I was just in my car pulling off my dash and getting the cell wire from the bundled electrical tape. ( I planned on doing the bypass in the morning.) So I start driving the car with the dash panel off and the cellular mute by itself. I clicked the first click of my ebrake to see how fast it take for the navi/video lock to kick in while moving. To my amazement...my system was completely bypassed. I have NO IDEA how this happened. My cellular mute wire is just danglin
  15. ...would anyone in the NY/NJ area be willing to help me on this? If my installer only ground the Cell mute, thats fine, as I have a workaround for the parking brake already. OR if anyone answers tonight that knows of a Shop in the NY/NJ area that would do the bypass please let me know. My install date is tomorrow so I have to know soon. I'd try to do it myself, but I always mess up something. Thanks in advance guys.

    IPOD Behaviour w/D3

    Its a world of difference....
  17. Yeah actually misfit, where in NJ is your shop located, and how much would you charge for an install in a 2002 Mazda Protege (with an Avic-N1 previously installed)? And would you do the bypass? The only reason I ask is my local shop refuse to do the bypass...so in my avic-n1 I was lucky enough to use the parking brake as a switch because my first click activated the "parking brake on" light but didn't apply any pressure on the brakes. However, with my D3, I now have to worry about the Cell mute wire and whether they would ground that for me....which even tho that alone doesn't do
  18. Honestly, you have to work to make it lose its memory. They only time i've done it on my Avic-N1 was when I was driving my buddy home and jumped off the highway with my home address still inputed, when we reached his house it stated on the screen: No map info avalible...scaling up. But before that happens you'll prob. flip from all the times the voice tells you to jump back onto route.

    Installation Price

Yeah I gave up on Best Buy and Circuit city installs because I had problems with them everytime....my biggest one was the fact they said my radio had died, I purchased a new radio, they tried it, and it was messing up as well, and they figured out it was a wire shorting from the speaker....to bad by this time they had chucked my old radio....tho they admitted their fault, i just shrugged it off and kept my new radio. Anyway, not that everyone who works there is a hack, but I no go to a specialty shop that has only provided me with amazing experiences (for a bit more hefty of a price howeve
  20. It seems many people are misinformed on DVD navi. The DVD is only accessed when you input an adress or search through POI's. After you chose a destination, it stores the instructions/route in its Flash based memory. You can then take out the DVD if you choose, or leave it. IF you take it out, you have about a 10 mile radius outside of the already mapped out destination before it request to place the DVD back in.
  21. Get Nero. They have a easy DVD creater that compresses the files rather esaily before it burns so you don't have to manually compress videos to make them fit.
  22. Looks good. The usb drive is also nice.
  23. I think the background is like that normally. So you are ok. Would love to see more pics tho. I believe thats the exact color i'm gonna use when I put mine in.
  24. Hey Manny, I hope you don't mind, I posted your video on youtube to show at my car forum. If you do, I have no problem taking it down. Thanks for the review, mine is being installed on tuesday. Can't wait.
