Be aware it won't change the DVD region and probably will keep the EU FM radio frequencies (which isn't a big deal since US only uses odd (ie 99.5, 99.7...)

Do you have both front and rear speakers connected? If not, it is possible you have wired it so that the rear channels are the only ones connected. Guidance audio only comes out the front speakers.

Parking brake must be set to access some of the settings. If it is set and it is still grayed-out then your unit is not properly installed (parking brake wire is not connected or not bypassed).

I have an easy way to install the ShortFuse hack with no TestMode, editing or patching involved. I've tested as much as I can on my unit. So I'm releasing here for you guys. Well on the F Series forum, they were successful installing the EU v7 on F20BT and F920BT. So the US should work with the correct CardInfo file. I posted it earlier. Make sure he follows the BT instructions in the installation manual - especially if it has old BT firmware ( < 3.10). If your bud has any issues connecting to iPod/Phone or other wired/wireless apps, do a hard reset and make sure App Connections is set correctly. Just the opposite. You made it sound like you found a way to update a x930 to run X950 firmware and install HackMode on a x950. I know what you are trying to say but your claims would confuse many people.

From the instructions on installing Nag Screen hack: "Note: Install the 2017 map update before installing this hack. Do not patch the file on the 2017 installation SD before installing the 2017 Update. If you do, the installation will fail." Similar warnings are found in the ShortFuse hack instructions. The most common reason for "wrong SD" is because you modified a file on the SD. CardInfo,CIF (if necessary for your model) is the only file that should be changed. The second most common reason is an error reading the SD. Reformat the SD FAT32 then extract the files from the original zip and try installing again.

What is in the root directory of the map installation SD? It should be: Firmware (folder) Update (folder) CardInfo.CIF (if you are installing 2017 US/Can, the one from nezfotnemom's zip)

If the problem is with a corrupted RenewallFlib.dll then the original 2017 SD won't fix it. When you get rested, try the one I sent (I hope you downloaded it because I deleted the attachment from the post. It had about a dozen downloads, but I didn't want everyone using it. I didn't want dozens of babies crying if it didn't work. If you have success I'll post it for everyone. If not, zip-up your original DLL and post it.

Why don't you try following the detailed ShortFuse instructions instead of this abbreviated summary. Sounds like your problem is with using HxD. Also, when using Find or Replace make sure you set to Hex Values. It defaults to string data type. Also, put spaces between the hex bytes (a byte in hex has two numbers....03 50 A0 E3). It shouldn't hurt to replace both. The non-active one will be overwritten during the update install. BTW, earlier you said you were going to buy a unit off ebay. What unit do you now have? Do you know what the current software version is?

OK, I thought it blew-up while doing the install, after entering the password. So you think it is blowing-up and rebooting because the DLL is corrupt? I hope you saved the original you got off the unit.

It sounds like you modified a file on the installation SD. The only change to SD files would be to use a different CARDINFO.CIF if necessary. I hope you didn't replace RenewallFlib.dll on the installation SD. I'd just extract the whole thing from the zip (we know its good) or use the original unmodified one you bought.

OK, since the already patched PRG0 had no effect, that's further evidence that we need to get/patch/replace the one in the Active PRG, not always PRG0. I've updated the Shortfuse instructions.

Great. BTW, that CardInfo patch looks like it covers 3 units, but IDK which specific ones (besides your F20). So - for those who can't get the update to start, you may have to dig a little. I'm not very familiar with the F series, so IDK which models precede the F30. Psydon, do you recall if PRG0 was the Active one before doing the map update? I'm trying to collect data one which works best: blindly patching PRG0, or patching the Active one. I'm starting to think it needs to be the Active one but need more data. My Active was PRG0 so it doesn't add any info.

Did you put the patched one back in PRG1?
