  1. That's what I'd like to know. My wife's VW can use BT Audio on her nav system, so we stream Pandora from a Blackberry Bold. With that system there is no on-screen control. I thought the sales pitch of these two radios was the ability of gaining on-screen control of Pandora.
  2. Kenwood uses Garmin navigation, which most people, including me, find the simplest and most accurate. That being said, the x920BT is nearly half the price of a comparable Kenwood. When I say that, I mean a unit with voice recognition, GPS, iPod, etc. I had a single din Alpine, and its iPod integration was great - didn't like their all-in-one's much, however. I looked at all three, and if I had the money, I'd likely buy the Kenwood. I don't, so I'm gambling on the Pioneer - hey, I can always return it.
  3. Wait a second - your screen says XM - so I take it your X920 is receiving signals from two sets of satellites for both GPS and XM. It would be interesting to disconnect the XM and see if the problem remained. Maybe there's a software glitch there - anyone else with XM? What happens when the antenna is inside the car? But still, the Pioneer guy may be on to something - aka there's something amiss with the VSS hookup; a short, a loose wire, the wrong signal (how are you getting the VSS feed - is it digital or analog?)
  4. where's Doctor Who when you need a good old-fashioned phone box to make a call from
  5. hehe - I'm sure we'll be discussing more in the weeks to come
  6. geez - blocks off? What have I got myself into LOL - hopefully they fixed whatever's wrong in yours, but it sounds like its an inferior product and Pioneer doesn't want to admit it. I figure the blowout price I just got at Amazon (sub $400) has something to do with that
  7. ps, is there a trick to making that .doc file open? I can't get it to open in Wordpad on Windows 7. Do you remember what it was created in?
  8. what year is your car, and what trim level - sport, GT etc.
  9. how far off is "always off"? Do you have the VSS cable connected? Where's your GPS antenna located?
  10. When you make shitty decks, that's what happens. But seriously, they scrapped iGo to use their own in-house nav and it's awful. That sort of bean counter move to save a few bucks will ultimately lead to lost profit and customers. Guess Pioneer didn't do well with economics 101. you can't beat Garmin, that's for sure. iGo seems pretty good from what I've seen. My wife's VW has a pretty nice system - might be NAVTEC? Pioneer seem to be putting too much stock in tweenies and their iPods. Didn't work for Microsoft Kin, and it likely won't work for Pioneer. Expect the next decks
  11. Just got another code for the next week - 30% off all these Pioneer products: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=pe_69560_16 ... PDKIKX0DER promotion code at checkout: VRCBKCX6 tough times for Pioneer?
  12. bummer. it was badly handled by Amazon - was supposed to be 4 hours long, but they had tech diffs, and it got shortened to two hours - when most people would've been at work
  13. was I the only one who bought one ... gulp
  14. if there's a secret menu, these guys might know where it is:
  15. I've seen posts about HID's and alternate wiring to help with other ailments. Post your results when you get it fixed
  16. is it accelerator whine - aka does it occilate with speed? do you have a ground loop isolator?
  17. the impression I got from Pioneer tech support was "tough luck, loser - that's how we do it"
  18. Pioneer just confirmed this to me in an email: after a connection has been established, the phone's keypad must be used for additional key entry, such as extensions, credit card numbers, etc. Their response mentioned pulling off the road. lol. In truth, that's probably a good idea. Nonetheless, Kenwood, Volkswagen, Caska and who knows how many others allow additional digit entry from the touchscreen. Isn't that what "hands free" is all about? Actually, it should all be voice activated, shouldn't it.
  19. my money's green and it knows how to walk. did you try Pandora with the X920's BT?
  20. As of 10:40 am Tuesday - 1 hour and 15 minutes to go Electronic Lightning Deals $699 minus %30 minus $100 rebate = $389.30 (if I did my math correctly) link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00332 ... os_product followup: they only sold 50% of their stock, so expect more deals soon...is it possible Pioneer thinks they have a problem-child and are clearing them out quick?
  21. hi - check your PM inbox re: question about Amazon
  22. I've wondered that question myself - figured it would be best to test everything BUT the bypass first, and then when happy, do the hack
  23. can you tell me what file extension to use so the Pioneer can see them? And when you say "number of characters" - really? Like old fashioned 8 character DOS? lol sorry -- seriously, how many characters do you think is appropriate? I did some recodes using DivX Plus Convverter, which squished em' down to 320x240 with a .divx file extension. The Pioneer said "bad resolution" or the like (from SD card) and wouldn't list any files. thanks
