hey guys im planning on upgrading my z1 (the original first gen) to the newest units pioneer has. i have been noticing the debate on the z130 and z140. there is a ton of debate but im now lost on which one is the best. or should i even wait for the next gen to come out? if you guys can give me a good pros and cons of each from your own personal experience that might help me decide. thanks.

i am wondering what i should do. any avice would be great. i have the original z1 unit. i have all the accessories. such as the BT, tv, sirius, and xm modules. there is nothing wrong with the unit. works perfectly fine. the only issue i have is that the map is out dated. i am now at an impasse. the price of updating it would be kinda costly just to updte an older unit. but the unit is working just fine otherwise. i also dont know if all my current accessories such as the xm, sirius, BT unit will still work on the newer units. i was thinking of the z130 what should i do

so the 130 is actually a higher model than the 120? how weird they price the 120bt more than the 130bt

Hey guys. i currently own the avic z1. the original unit that came out the first time. so am a total newbie with these newer units. i have been looking at the new units and really like the new gui. i have been checking out the pioneer web site but i cant really get a good sense of whats really different between the two units. i also dont know why the 120bt is more expensive than the 130bt. one of the main things i want is the traffic. i heard that all the new units come free with this feature. is this true? current i have the z1 add with xm nav traffic. they are charging me about $6 fee

i am currently using the avic z1 unit. it has the xm sat tuner unit hooked up. the unit has a subscription required monthly to have the live nav traffic to work. does the new avic z130bt unit have that feature free? no monthly subsription needed? whats the difference between the z130br and the z120bt? the cost seems like the 130 is less than the 120 but the listed features seems to show the 130 has more. im not sure what im missing in the info?

i currently have two issues with both of my z1. they are doing the same exact thing. -on the nav traffic i am missing the colored traffic line on one direction of the freeway. sometimes it will show but most of the time it will never show. its been doing that ever since i purchased the units. its the same freeways everyday. -after the z1 cd firmware update install i can not do memo on the sirius music. i will normally hold down the memo for 2 seconds and it will remember what ever song i have but now it wont remember any songs.

i have a perfectly good tv tuner from pioneer for my z1 head unit. ever since the US changed the signal to digital my tuner will no longer work. i spent a good amount on this tuner and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. is there a hack or mod that i can do to it so i can watch it again?

hi have the sir-pnr2 tuner unit hooked up to the z1 for a long time. it was working for many years. i had taked off the main battery of the car for maintenance a few times in the past couple of years. the tuner seemed to always worked when i reattached the battery. the last time i did it, i left the car sitting for a week. when i plugged it back in the tuner didnt work. to see if i could fix it, i started with calling sirius to resend me a signal. the unit would come on intermittedly. i just took it out and tried to detach and reattach the cables all together. no luck. i also tried to c

i just called the support phone number and the guy on the line said that there is no update cd available to fix any echo bluetooth issues. i was suprised for him to say this because there so much info about it on here. also i further asked him if the navigation update cd will do anything else to fix the z1 boot up and he said no. the cd only gives the navigation a more precise location update. by the time i asked what his name was he just hung up on my after i had waited for about 15 mins. i had dialed 800-421-1404 then selection 2, 4, 2, 1, 1 i wanted the updated blue

oh yeah, thanks for the links, it helped me to start looking around here again like i used to. i did read his sale post. very interesting, i did notice that his included maps is for the 2009 upgrade. according to pioneer's site there is a 2010 update. not sure if they are the same. on his site he states that the hard drive he sends back is a z3. what does that mean to me, as i have a z1 unit? are the maps really different from what i have and the update? is the unit going to be faster just from the update? is his hard drives bigger allowing more memory?

thanks for the reply. what is the difference between the old maps and the new one? is there a more safer and easier way of updating, maybe like bluetooth it? why doesnt pioneer have a cd that will let you just load it in there?

hey guys i have been out of the loop for a while now. please be patient with my questions. i bought two of the original released z1 units. they were purchased months from each other so the manf dates are about 6 months apart. i think this was relevant to the bypass procedure at the time. i had purchased a module bypass for one of them. it simulates my headlights flashing. my second unit, i did some sort of wire switching in the rear of the unit. i really cant remember now. if i remember i could do this on the later unit and not the first unit (correct me if this is wrong). that i

thanks for the reply. also to avoid the wire being damaged, pretty much from installation, i decided to install it on the inside of the car. it works pretty good. installed the sirius, xm, and navigation antenna on the rear deck on my gf accord. so for all you people out there the rear deck works great. the only thing you have to do is use that little metal this sheet under the antenna's. the reflectiveness help a ton. when yesterday i installed the sirius ant the signal would just cut in/out all the time. when i put it on the supplied part, metal sheet, the signal never g

finished taking out the wire with the 1amp fuse. just by looking at it, i couldnt tell but i had to test it with my tester. it was blown. that was sure helpfull. i didnt have to take out the whole unit or wiring. as a precaution to others. bare antenna wire is enough to blow the 1amp fuse. never knew that much power went through it.

today i had to tuck in the sirius external antenna. i have the z2 with the prn2 sirius tuner. the antenna wire was damaged while i was tucking in the wire in the rear window molding. the radio was on while i was doing this. after i saw the metal in teh wiring after i tapped it in with a screw driver the sirius turned off. the rasio still worked but the sirius tuner would not come on. it would show on the main menu either. im thinking the outter metal sheath touched something metal on the car. i dont think the inner wire ever came in contact with the outer part of the wire. so i went o

i think this might be old news but i just saw the sirius tv tuner for the car. its also call the backseat tv. i was curious if anyone used this on the z1 yet? if you have used it how is the wiring? is it all plug and play on the z1?

hi all, well i have found out something that i thought i would share. have you guys had issues with the cell phone not staying connected to the z1 headunit? well here is the solution that i did for myself. i have the treo 650 by sprint pcs and i just installed the bluetooth module for the avic z1. i tried to link it up and it seemed like it wouldnt stay connected. it kept on disconnecting. i just couldnt understand at first why it was doing that.
