  1. I just stumbled onto this thread and nearly fell out of my chair. I have the Z1 (upgraded to Z3 w/2010 maps). I'm pretty sure I have the CD-BTB100, which only allows for hands-free calling and such. Is it as easy as just swapping out my 100 adapter for the 200-series?
  2. I've finally had it with my POS iPod. Not only are the Z1/Z2/Z3 controls on the unit absolutely useless, iPod Classic frequently crashes on me and needs to be "restored". I made the decision to get a Zune HD and haven't been happier. The only issue is hooking it to my Z1 (hacked to Z3). I could care less about charging, video, digital input, etc... I just want a regular audio (2.5mm?) cable I can run from the back of the unit somewhere convenient so I can hook up the Zune and control from the Zune itself. I'm currently using an FM adapter, which is ok... but gets random interfe
  3. That's a Mustang, isn't it? I have a Z1 in my 05. Was looking at this for our Traverse and found your demo vids. Thanks!
  4. I'm downloading the image now... plan on seeding for a long time. I'm still a bit unsure whether or not I should update my unit or not. I have a Z1 that I had unlocked and upgraded to the Z3. I have the 2-wire bypass going on. What exactly am I going to get with this? Just updated maps/POIs/new XM icon?
  5. I've often thought about this. I absolutely hate my iPod. Having the iPod interface for the AVIC makes me hate it even more. I wish I had not spent the money on it, as it's completely useless. I would love to switch to a Zune...
  6. Following this guide, I was able to remove my AVIC-Z1 HDD, unlock it, disable security, and load the new Z3 image on w/o issues. I really only had two issues, both which I was able to overcome. 1) The motherboard of the PC I used to unlock the drive only had one IDE channel, so I was unable to put the drive as master on the secondary IDE channel. It made no difference. The program found and unlocked the drive as master on the primary channel. Not sure if the guide is wrong, or what. 2) I did not have a floppy drive installed to run MHDD. Luckily, I was able to find one a and
  7. Will this work in place of the $5 unlock program? http://wareseeker.com/System/hdd-unlock ... zip/403253
  8. Thanks for the reply. I'll install it on a PC that is not on my domain, so will not have the permissions to wipe out my music collection, just in case. You can never be too careful with Crapple.... I really don't like Apple or their products. I really wish Pioneer would come up with a Zune interface!
  9. Ahhh, but I can only do that from iTunes, right? Can I install iTunes on a separate computer and run the firmware update w/o hosing my music collection?
  10. Hey everyone. I originally had the 80GB iPod Video plugged into my AVIC-Z1 with the available iPod adapter. It worked about 90% of the time. I'd have to sometimes unplug it, but that was about it. Well, about 3 months ago, it wouldn't play at all. I took it out of the glovebox and tried to start it up. I got the stupid little dead hard drive icon. I was going to replace it under my Best Buy replacement plan, but it all of the sudden came back to life. A month later, it died again. This time for good. So when I went to replace it, I was given the new version "Classic" 80GB
  11. At least I know the correct speed with the Z1.... I'm an avid member of many Mustang forums, and I have yet to see anyone who has the same issue as me. I've seen a few speedos off, but they were so low that they were disputed.... like the GPS saying 60 and the speedo saying 62-63.
  12. I use a very lightly damp microfiber cloth. Why use chemicals when a bit of water works just fine?
  13. My speedo wasn't this inaccurate when I bought the car. In fact, I had a TomTom GPS (no speed sense wire) and it was 100% accurate with the speedo. I'm not really sure when/what mod caused it to be off, but I've gone over the rear gear ratio and tire revs per mile over and over to make sure they're right in my programmer. I don't know what else it could be.
  14. Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my Ford Mustang and I'm trying to isolate it. I have changed the gears and tires, but have a handheld Diablo programmer to re-write the ECU with the new gear and tire sizes. Still, the speedometer reports a different speed. Basically, if I'm going 60mph the speedo shows 70. I got the true speed from the Z1 by changing the map mode, but I'm not sure if it's getting it from the vehicle speed sense wire or by tracking the GPS satellites.... I have a new gauge cluster on order, but I really don't think that's the problem. Oh yeah, the reason
