  1. ... if I would like to go back to the factory settings-software, Do I only have to remove the PRG1 folder?...

NO. PRG1 is 100% real pioneer's folder and it have to be on your device.

Sorry but you have wrong ideas about your pioneer file structure. I suggest you - do not mess with files and folders yet, unless you clearly understand what you are doing, and keep reading especially post #1 here.

  2. I went through all steps and now nothing shows up on screen except initial start up picture!

Let me guess, you did it twice, did you?

    and some info:

    what model do you have?

    What software ver it had?

what ver of hackmode did you use?

    how many times you tried?

Can you enter to testmode? (Hold Home button and press >>-<<->>-<<->>-<< release Home button)

If you can - restore Av.exe from backup. (I hope you have backup)

For 40/140/940 models search for EU update files and get Av.exe from there.

  3. You are not a noob.

    I hope so %)

I did password recovery and got just random set of letters and numbers as password. So I am up and running again but it is complete mystery for me how it all happen. I didn't set password and I do not believe my mechanic did. So may be it was software glitch of some kind.

  4. I have a z120 updated to z130.

I tried installing Hackmode using the V2.0 script. This caused a red-screen error. After re-starting the unit would not boot. (It gave a "no applicable program" error.) I attempted to install using the V2.2 script which was successful and I can now boot to Hackmode. The unit still does not boot to normal mode, though. (It hangs at the splash screen.) Both PRG0 and PRG1 directories appear to be identicle.

    Hi Mickey,

You most likely have killed AV.EXE. Search this topic for couple of pages backwards for European update for F40 unit and download it. Inside this archive you will find that AV.exe file (new version). Rename av.exe to av1.exe and replace av1.exe on your device you will have it up and running again.

  5. Hey Ralpharn, thanks for the updates on the hack, can you send me a link to that russian forum so I can also follow the progress of that hack, it looks promising, as currently I never use the navi in my unit because the map coverage is crap.

Russian forum is here, but to see it you must register and log-in first. Otherwise it is invisible. This link leads to exact post where that guy started to describe his achievement.

  6. Some good/bad news:

Someone reported on russian forum about working modified portspliter that allows him to run IGO Primo on his F930BT with working GPS. So now he works on integration of "aftermarket" Navi programs to stock shell.

He estimates that it will took him 2-4 weeks to get stable and working hack. And to install it we need working testmode or hackmode.

So bad news for F940/F40/X930/Z140 units owners- you need to work out how to get working testmode.

And if someone interested in this hack- please do not update your units yet.

Update for EU units for F940/F40 has identical files as update files for US X930/Z130 except NDATA folder (map update).

Bad news: update files have no info about region, that means we can't change region by updating unit with desirable region update.

  7. you need to discover which app use gps port, .exe

Take a look here. it looks like it blocked on windows bootup level. So Pioneer's software has nothing to do with keeping this port busy. We need to check windows files that running in hackmode v1.2 You know where to get that old hackmode do you? ;)
  8. The sd card doesn't come until tomorrow. I don't use voice-control but i'll check it out for you tomorrow night.

Look at this, I put it on other thread, but it can be worth to try:

Update should be on two SD cards, first card has map update and it will ask you to get password, second card should be software update and it should not ask you anything.

As advice: Try to update map first, and after update have finished, go in to testmode (if you have't updated software it will have copy/paste option) and copy contains of NDATA forlder -it will have new map on it. Than you will have chance to put new map in to other unit using testmode. Make backup of second unit's NDATA folder before making any changes.

Only then update software and you will have X940BT with limited testmode without copy/paste function.

It would be great if you share software update (second SD card) and NDATA folder with new maps.

If by any reason update card is the only one, make copy of it first and try to avoid to update software to get copy of NDATA folder. It can take a while to get NDATA copied- good hour or so.
