  1. Wow, and for the price they charged for that thing, you would think they would have more features and a better look.
  2. I know it isn't Avic related, but I just picked up this cool iPod/USB adapter at woot. http://www.woot.com/
  3. lol @ misfit. Sand. And to everyone else, YES! To ground the mute wire AND the parking brake wire, just attach it to the big black wire with the spade connector at the end. (check my photo gallery in the sig below to see a pic of it). You can solder all three together, use wiretaps, or if you just want to rig it, you can wrap the wire all around the spade connector before you screw it down. Either way, it's grounded. And to the guy that grounded the wires to the metal housing of the HU, that's not good grounding....
  4. Oh... now that would have been nice to know! lol Oh well. I didn't need sirius anyway. Got the CD-BTB200 instead.
  5. Yeah, you'll need a dual layer burner for an image that big. Also, MDF's are burned using Alcohol 120%. BUT, if you don't have a dual layer disc, you can use Alcohol 120% to "mount" the image and then you can rip an ISO using UltraISO and remove the POI files. Maybe that will drop it to under 4.6 gigs. As far as where the files are, I bet they found them as a torrent or some other P2P. Not a big fan of P2P myself.

    BTB200 Mounting

You can mount it just about anywhere as long as the cables reach back to the head unit. As far as the wire that has constant power goes, most all harnesses use standard coloring. Yellow is always constant power. If you wired up your harness correctly, you can tap into the yellow wire.
  7. Ripping it out is not a big deal. If you break off the pin, you can always buy another one at radio shack and crimp it back on. No biggie. It's just easier to pry the plastic up a bit and pull it out. Now, if some eager hacker can just get this notification screen to go away...
  8. I thought the $30 gift card was for XM subscription only?
  9. The pin on the mute wire has a flat side and a side that has a gap in it. The gap goes on the inside and the flat side goes towards the outside (where the plastic clip is). Take a look at the pictures again to see what I mean. Push the mute wire in all the way, then try and pull it out. If it comes out, it's not in all the way.
  10. Check out the flash gallery below in my sig. I used a flat head screwdriver for eyeglasses. Any kind of small flat object would work though.
  11. Sounds like your alarm installers weren't very good. Are you saying the installers grounded the alarm directly to the radio? It sounds like you just can't remove the factory plug from the radio. If all else fails, you could look for a replacement harness, cut the old one off, and put a new one on. Most stealerships will order the part for you. If the thing is just held in by some solder, you can always remove the solder to free it up.
  12. I wouldn't do that. You'll never get a good solid connection. Check fleabay or Radio Shack and see if you can find a similar pin. All you need to do is cut the end off, strip the jacket (plastic covering) back and crimp a new pin on.
  13. You've got a couple of options. You can just leave off the Metra Data bus connector for the door chimes. OR you can wrap it in electrical tape. Be sure to cover the speaker hole. This will take it down some decibels but still be audible.
  14. It doesn't explicitly say so, but maybe this would work: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v ... 41,00.html Pioneer XDV-P6 6 Disc DVD player with IP-Bus control from the HU. Much easier than hacking up your D3 and adds 6 discs. Of course, it's not confirmed to work with the D3 though.
  15. Thanks for hosting it Jason. If anyone finds this tutorial helpful, please use my referral code: pe7ar-538s2-w5387 The last part of the gallery shows the Parking Brake wire and the Ground wire. You can use the wire tap that is already on the parking brake wire to tap into the ground wire shown. You could also use a tap to connect the Mute wire to the ground wire. I have confirmed this and you only have to use that one wire to ground. I tapped into the ground on the wiring harness in case I ever need to change the other harness (if I get that new truck I'm eyeing).
  16. I put together a nice flash photogallery that shows you, step by step, how to remove the mute wire and put it back into the right spot. I also show you the parking brake wire and the ground wire on the same cable. You could ground the parking brake and mute wire to this. I asked Jason to host the photo gallery. We'll see what he says.
  17. My D3 and camera shows up today! CD-BTB200 will be here tomorrow too. I'm excited! I really appreciate you guys posting this great sale. :0) My referral code: pe7ar-538s2-w5387
  18. Update: "Items are temporarily out of stock and will be shipped as they become available. If you need more information please call our sales line toll-free at 1-888-955-6000." Mine has the Avic-D3 and backup camera listing as shipped, with a tracking number, and the charge (which is going through my cc now as pending). They also went ahead and charged the CD-BTB200 but it's only showing as being prepared for shipping. If they charged it, they should be shipping it.
  19. As soon as mine comes in, I'll get a video for you.
  20. Sweet! Ordered earlier this week, Avic-D3 and backup camera is shipping today. CD-BTB200 is showing as preparing for shipping! Excellent!
  21. pe7ar-538s2-w5387 <-Fresh code How do we check to see when someone uses it?
  22. I'm hoping to install a D3 with the iPod cable, rear view camera, and the new bluetooth module when it comes in from CF. I already have a Pioneer DEH-7600 in there but will take plenty of pictures for reference.
  23. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a small iPod and the iPod cable? You could easily fit 12 - 15 albums on an iPod shuffle. It'll be easier to install, won't scratch, and will be much faster. Plus you can always upgrade to a bigger iPod later...
