  1. I didn't think the D2 could use bluetooth adapters?? Am I wrong? If so, sweet.
  2. I can't offer any info, because I'm in the same position, but am wondering if the D2 itself is able to play DVD once an external DVD is hooked up, or will it only play the movie on seperate screens??? Thanks.

Bought kit and harness for D2 from Crutchfield. I think it's fairly similar for the D3, but not exactly sure. Hop over to Crutchfield and "Outfit My Car," and then you can choose vehicle harness and vehicle kits. I'm sure you will use the same double din kit I used, and the harness should be the same as well. I would do it for you, but don't know if you have the Bose system with navigation, Bose without navigation, or regular factory radio.
  4. Avic D2. Example: Best Buy, Raleigh, NC. It finds it, shows me the route, but shouldn't I be able to also get the phone number? I can search with the phone number, but what if I have the address, but need the phone number? Is there a way to get phone numbers by POI or address search?? Thanks guys.
  5. My friend just got his AVIC N3, and install will be into a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM. We are trying to find the VSS wire. I used the VSS search, but did not find any info that I understood. I've heard it is GREEN/WHITE, but any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks again guys.
  6. Check this post: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5169 Scroll thru responses and you will see pics and videos linked to youtube and others. I didn't read thru the whole post, but info on VSS and how to install may be in there. Good luck.
  7. Hey. I am thinking of getting the xm add on for my D2, but am wondering if anyone has it with a D2, and how does it work? Does the unit respond quickly? Can you scroll thru songs? I've heard the ipod interface is awful with the D2, so wondering if the XM interface is just as worse, or any better? Any pics of XM being used on a D2 would be awesome. Thanks guys.
  8. Looks very nice. Your's sits much farther forward then mine. Did you use anything special to get it that way. Here are pics of mine, just click or copy. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p263 ... G_0391.jpg http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p263 ... G_0392.jpg http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p263 ... 9. Just PM'ed you back. I did not drill new holes in brackets. Try the washers first, it really helped on mine. It's not flush, but a lot better.
  10. I ran mine behind the dash, out underneath the glove box, underneath the floor mat to back seat, underneath that floor mat, underneath seat along side towards door, behind seat up towards back deck, and then put that sticky square on back deck and put gps antenna on it. Sounds confusing, but the only wire you see is where it goes to the back deck, and I have all 8 satellites with perfect reception. I didn't know about under the dash, and do not feel like taking the unit out once again.
  11. No prob. Have you had any problem with your FM reception? Mine is horrible to say the least.
  12. Yeah, I hear what you mean about making it perfect. Since install, I think I have taken it out 15 times, each time for something small, mainly not really worth it, but happy to finally be done. If your's is 2 inches deep I would say yes, washers are worth it. I used 1/4" flat washers. I put 4 behind the top screw and 2 under bottom screw. It did really help bring it out. I just have no clue why the old DD fits nothing like the new DD.
  13. Same here...mine sits too far back. Pics at following links: http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p263 ... G_0393.jpg http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p263 ... G_0392.jpg http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p263 ... G_0391.jpg I used 4 spacers on top screws and 2 spacers on bottom, and it still sits out that far. It doesn't bother me too much, as I'm sick of taking it out time and time again.
  14. Besides giving you your speed, I think it mainly allows for better gps nav and better calculation of distance. It may help with locating your surroundings and POI's, but I'm not 100% sure myself.
  15. Nice. I just did a D2 in 05 Altima. Rather tricky, and you'll have to let me know which screw holes you used on the factory mounting bracket to install the D1. If it's the same as with my D2, there will be a rather big gap. I put several washers behind the mounting screws, and that helped alittle bit. The VSS wire is on the bigger factory harness. Looking at the wire side, it will be on the bottom right, far corner, and it should be light pink. I called crutchfield, but they said that wasn't it, but I hooked it up and the speed sense confirms that is the VSS wire. To install fa
  16. HELP... Got D2 installed in 05 Altima. Bypass works great, ill, and vss work great. However, the radio in the stock brackets sits too high, so the face plate that I ordered from crutchfield does not fit. There is a gap at the bottom, and the cd drive will not close because the top is hitting it. What kit did you use to make yours fit? Did you use the stock brackets. I could only get 3 screws on each side to line up, which could be causing problems. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Lillington, NC

Anyone live near Lillington or Raleigh, NC with any avic unit? If so, how does the gps work? I live in a rather remote area, so wondering how updated nav will be. Thanks.
  18. So, basically this one??? Which I bought. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1 EDIT...NVM. It says no more IR remote. Phew.
  19. SSRECORDS....I just read on a post that to install the PAC steering wheel adapter that you need to use a IR remote?? Is this true?
  20. Thanks. Is there an order that has to be followed for doing bypass? I've heard I need to boot the D2 up first, and then power down, and then do bypass. Is that correct, or can I just perform the bypass, hook up the PAC for steering wheel controls, and power on with the unit bypassed? Thanks for the help.
  21. Cool. Just bought one, should have everything by Thursday, so will be ready to install. Doing a PT test with a PD on Thursday, so pass that, gather all D2 stuff, do a bypassed install, and enjoy the weekend......let's hope it all works out that way....... *fingers crossed*
  22. The reverse wire is only for the camera, right? And no, I'm not installilng a camera, so I was thinking I didn't have to hook up reverse wire. Steering wheel controls, I hear you have to buy an adapter to make them work, which again, no, I wasn't going to do that. Is there a way to just hook them up, or do you need the adapter, becuase I would love to have them work. I'm mainly concerned about the VSS wire, but will look for it on the harness first. Thanks for the help.
  23. This is a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 with automatic and factory radio, NOT BOSE. I've heard that hooking up the VSS will make the nav work better. Also, were you able to hook up the illumination wire? Is there one in the factory harness?? Thanks.
  24. Yes, my stock radio does get louder when I drive faster, or have windows open. It's the SSV feature in the audio section on the factory deck. I haven't checked wires yet because my D2 won't be here til Monday, so just wanted to get the position and wire color figured out prior to opening. Can you still help? Is it solid pink?
  25. Hey. Very nice install. Where did you find the VSS wire? I have looked and looked, and I probably just overlooked it, but where and what color would be very helpful. Thanks alot.
