  1. Hey folks, Just loaded up firmware 4.0 and it works fine but it no longer supports the red light/speed camera warnings I had in 3.x. I've heard that there were legal issues or something and that's why Pioneer took it out. Anyone know if: A) There's a speed/red light camera hack available that I can upload to 4.0? I think I saw one posted from a couple years ago that had added some features/adjustments to the standard cam features in 3.x but I'm not sure if that was the whole camera feature or just some add-ons? If anyone with 4.0 in US is using red light/speed camera feature a
  2. Would like to buy a black one. Still any available?? If yes, how do I order?
  3. Hey, this is awesome but I need the steps again to get it all correctly uploaded. Can you help? The download you gave us has two folders and two other files, a .win and a .cks I think the process is something like: * get into testmode * update windows CE from the flash * copy all the files from the "copy contents onto my flash" folder into...well, I'm not exactly sure if I need all the files there? And where do I put them? And what about the .win and .cks files? Do I need to do anything with those specifically or will they automatically be accessed when i get into testmode?
  4. Hey, I don't know if you've solved your issue yet, but I sure had a ton of similar problems a few months back. I took my unit out - didn't take very long - and sent it to Turbo Tunes for the reset. Works great now. Cost $120 and is all updated with current OS, etc. turbotunes.com Check 'em out.
  5. Hey buddy, you're not alone. Pioneer's support is infamously effed up. I paid $120 for a complete reset and upgrade of my software OS to 3.0x from a place called Turbo Tunes: Steve Karner Car Audio Sales & Service 16166 Lake Michigan Dr West Olive, MI 49460 (419)-341-3712 (M-F 9AM-7PM EST smkarner@mtu.edu www.turbotunes.com They were fast and the thing works like new again.
  6. I just pulled mine out and sent it to TurboTunes in Michigan to have them fix it. I was going to send it to Pioneer in SoCal but they charge twice as much. So it's supposed to cost $120 at Turbo. I'll know in a day or so if they were successful in fixing it. If they get it right, they'll also upgrade it to the current OS version which should really help the stability according to folks on this blog. I'll let you know what I find out.
  7. I called Pioneer tech support and the totally unenthusiastic guy on the phone said, "sounds like you need to send it to us". Alrighty then, guess that's my only option save your turbotunes.com. I'll check them out too, just in case. So now I'm trying to figure out how to get my unit out. The double din bezel on my Altima doesn't want to pop out so I'm afraid of just breaking it. But I can't see any way that it's connected to either the unit or the dash. The guys at CarToys said it should just pull out but that isn't working. Anyone have any ideas?
  8. Hey Bill, elsewhere on this site are instructions on how to go through the process of doing a WINCE update and getting the system into TestMode where you can reset the box. It requires downloading some files onto a couple of SD cards. I've already tried those steps and can't get it into testmode so I'm stuck. Hopefully your unit will respond just like the others that got it fixed.
  9. Right there with you guys. Have tried the Wince upgrade and reloaded v2.0006 and it won't read the testmode files. Just sits there. I can get to the top level menu but the only active thing is the system settings and only a few things there. No AV, map, etc. Hoping someone has an idea.
  10. Wow, I'm really at wit's end here. I've tried everything posted here to get it into testmode and it just won't seem to read any of the files. I did the steps listed here with the two wince.bin and .cks files that worked fine. Stuck the other disk with the testmode files in and hit reset and nothing happens. So I uploaded v2.0006 and v2.0008 from Pioneer and they got my initial menu screen back but it wont' go anywhere from that. No maps, no AV source, etc. I've downloaded 3 versions of the testmode files since several got that .exe error. The last one didn't but it doesn't read eithe
