  1. With an unlocked drive connected to your computer (via IDE or even an external USB connector), go to the first partition (LDATA) and find folder \BG\PREINSTALL. Make a new folder in there called \BG\PREINSTALL\ORIGINAL and move out the pictures you dont want (only 20 are allowed) Put your own pictures in the \BG\PREINSTALL directory in BMP format 500x240 resolution. Now these will be available to you at any time for any screen.
  2. Just tip the two vents back to reach the screws, no need to remove them
  3. Anyone know where to put all of my JPG's on the harddrive for backgrounds so I don't have to put the disc in to change them? For the splash and for normal backgrounds
  4. I just bought one from him myself, can't wait to get it. Now I have to figure out how to get my music from the old drive to the new drive without reloading each CD!
  5. Ok, I figured the countdown part out.
  6. First, when I initially installed the unit and had a calculated route, reaching 0.1 mile from my turn, there was a little slider on the left that would fill up the closer I got to the turn, like a countdown. This is gone and I am not sure how to get it back. Second, when I have a POI as my destination, how do I get detailed info for that POI again? When I first set the destination up (like McDonalds for example), it gives me the address and phone number but after the route is calculated and I am on my way, I can't get back to that without cancelling the route and starting from scratch. Any hel
  7. All set! I had to send mine back to Pioneer repair a because the voice command and amp power out were not working. The harness that came with the unit was the wrong one and replaced by Pioneer at no charge. All I can say is that they were extremely helpful and took care of it, no hassles whatsoever. Looking to buy a refurb? Go for it, they will cover it (as long as it is from a authorized dealer). Mine works like new (although the nav sucks and the music library is not customizable. etc...). LOVE the bluetooth for my cell phone, it is great!
  8. I bought mine refurbed from golden gate electronics through Ebay for $1340 shipped. When I got it, the voice recognition did not work and there was no power output on the amp remote. I sent it back to Pioneer for repairs and they honored the warrantee. I also purchased a 3 yr extended warrantee through Square trade for 10% of the purchase price. Would probably reccommend the ext warr. I just got it back today and will install it this afternoon. Will let you know. Pioneer did not charge me anything although the shipping to Pioneer was out of pocket ($15 shipped insured for $1400). I would sugg
  9. Ok, I have come to the realization that mp3's can not be put on the harddrive and have started burning audio CDs and loading them into the Z1. MAN THIS THING HOLDS A LOT OF MUSIC! I have 30 CDs in already and only 25% of the 10 gigs used. Here is my new dihlema... I want to keep all of my 80's, dance, rap etc in each of there own albums. Right now I have 80's A-C, D-G etc...as much as my music CD will hold. I want to combine all to just '80s'. Any way to do this so I dont have to scroll through 100 albums on the library? This is a great unit but annoying in some ways with the limitations. I wo
  10. OK, I installed my Z1 today and so far it seems to be great. I have a question about the voice commands. I don't know how to do it. The book says to press the voice button but I have not seen one anywhere on any of the screens. The manual is very vague and offers little help, ya'll are the masters! I have the microphone hooked up and by my visor.
  11. Roxio what? EZ CD creator? It allows the ability to make music DVD's that are transferrable to the hard drive?
  12. eBay, all that you want
  13. Not sure where to post this. I want to put my music (in mp3 format) on my Z1's hard drive. I know that the Z1 will not allow this. Without having to burn 100s of audio CDs from my mp3 files, is there any way to make an "audio DVD" from my MP3 files? I have Nero 6 and in DVD mode, it will not allow me to make an audio DVD. Anyone have any insight on how to do this more efficiently? Thanks a bunch in advance. I am learning so much from these forums.
  14. ducatiboy, without reading through 42,000 posts, did you ever get your z1 to update past 99%. What do I do if that happens to me? I don't want to deal with backing up the hard drive and all that jazz. Did it lock the unit up completely unusable?
  15. I was wondering if this update would work even though I dont have a bluetooth module installed. I want to eliminate the flashing stuff and just ground the wires. Do I need to have bluetooth to do this update?
