  1. I have an 04 altima... those who kno it has no external antenna just one on the read windshield. when listening to the normal radio i get static sometimes but it does not last long. i of course used the same ant for the hd radio adapter provided by pioneer for the d3... this is how i have everything connected stock ant | provided ant extender | hd radio tuner----->D3 another question i have is.... are the hd stat
  2. there are options in the system settings that allow you to diplay vide, audio and video and audio, try that look for it under system settings, or input controls, ill try to go mess around with mine to find the root to the option but just play with the settings its in there some where, also if you are trying to watch the vid while actually moving make sure the d3 is bypassed, its on here some where just look for it
  3. the huge gaps you are seeing should be from the old factory radio it had a shape like this (___) there are kits available online or at a local car audio shop that u can buy for a few bucks...the vss however i am not sure... if the pros on here recommend a dif color vss go with that hoever if they dont... if u do see a pick/grey wire back there odds are that yes thats the wire I am adduming u are using a wireharness and all your other wires should be hooked up by now... if you wanted to test it just use the tap supplied to tap into the wire.... then go to the connection status screen in the d3.
  4. a good program would be dvdfab hd decrypter.... there is a button in the program that says to ipod just select which file you want to convert and click to ipod should work fine....its free so it makes it really easy to get... this program does some more stuff like decrypt your dvds so u can burn them to a regular dvd... try it out should work for wut u want to do
  5. try using the switch for your head lights that would work too since it would signal the unit to dim when the head lights are on
  6. there should be a yellow wire on ur stock harness for the batt connection.... if u r using a aftermarket harness to connect ur avic u should be just matching up the colors (the harness usually is color coded like the aftermarket radios to make it easier)... i would not tap into the wire going to ur amp.... whenever ur amp needs alot of power like for peak points of music ur avic might suffer ( i have a problem when my bass hits... my lights usually dim even wit 2 caps but i think ill be needing a more powerful alternator)... also it might not work depending on the fuse u have on power line for
  7. trust me they did the bypass on it.... it is illegal for pioneer to ship a device that allows the driver to view video while driving out of the box
  8. if the ipod cable is plugged in it wnt let u do video so you wont be able to chrage ur ipod while watching video.. i kno sucks... if u have the ipod interface plugged in it will say pioneer on the ipod screen so u loose the vid functionality....
  9. so is there a way to find the nearest liquor store or something like that... for instance when you put that into poi it comes up with a bunch of stuff but none relatively close but i knew of 1
  10. animated pics are gif's avic uses jpegs.. thats the only reason y
  11. but very simple.... what you need to do is move your mute wire (yellow and black) up to the slot above it... make sure the pin is in fully and secure.... then ground that mute wire as well as the parking break lead (light green wire)... thats it .... p.s. dont tell n e one i told you this was mentioned in other places on this wonderful site like... http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... de3+bypass
  12. yes the blue antenna wire sends 12v to ur antenna.... if you have car amps it is also used as a turn on switch
  13. the only thing i dnt like about the d3 (but that doesnt mean i dnt love it) is that it doesnt have a seperate dvd drive for just the navi... in other words if you want to play a cd you have to take out the nav disc and play the cd.... how ever if you want to go some where you program the route and it will then save it to memory with a few re routes... so you dnt loose the navigation when you actually need it.... or you can get an ipod with the ipod cable and that would solve all your problems the gui is great for it also...
  14. if your zen has video out capabilities (I use an ipod so i wouldnt kno...) there is a cord you can buy which fits into your normal head phone jack and has rca outputs... you can find it at your local radioshack in the ipod section but should work for your zen.... you plug those rca's into the harness of you d3 and you've got video you cant plug it into the front aux input on the d3 thats audio only.... if you are having trouble getting one which i doubt you will i have one i have no use for.... if you pay for shipping u could have it
  15. that first pic is a male connector.... male plugs go into female plugs... im sure you can figure out why they are called male and female plugs from there...when u use wire taps like the one i have in my pic the male connector plugs right into the wire tap.... look at the e brake wire tap... see that when it is open you see a metal loop where the wire would go.... when u close it the wire gets squeezed between the loop which strips the wire and creates a connection... you male connector then connects with that metal loop when it is plugged in... auto zone should have everything u need... you co
  16. wire taps are simple cost maybe about .50 for each..... all a wire tap does is let you connect into another wire with out have to physically stripping it.... it strips it on its own... all you do is connect a male connector to your mute wire and parking break wire and plug it into them the wire taps...
  17. u just crimp it down onto the wire it strips the wire and makes a good connection with very little work.... u dnt have to use wire taps if they are hard for u to find or u dnt wanna spend a little extra.... just strip away a part of the ground wire (do not cut to make this easier) then connect the stripped mute wire and parking break wire to the spot and either you can solder it together to make a really good connection or just wrap them around the ground wire firmly and electrical tape it to keep it secure.... because your mute wire is relatively short try stripping the ground wire close to t
  18. yes there is sorry... its the parking brake wire... its a long green with a wire tap already connected to it.... all u need to do is tap both into the ground wire (black with circle connector) and when the hook it all up it should work fine...
  19. or just wire tap into the ground wire for the unit
  20. the stock antenna plug should have two pins coming out of it... the d3 only accepts a single pole... look at crutchfield they should be able to tell u wut kind of antenna is needed but an adapter is required.... yes only one harness is used for you nissan... the other plugs have to do with steering wheel controls and so on.... but the vss wire is that color you see in the pic (pink)... if you are still haveng problems pm me ill send you pics of my install
  21. nissan antennas suck.... so thats prob y.... vss is pink wire in wire harness did you get the adapter for the stock antenna? [/code]
