did you connect the antenna wire from the d3 to the car's wire? there should be a blue wire in the harness you used to connect to the vehicle's wiring.

hold it down like youre setting a radio preset. it takes a couple of seconds.

it can easily be done. i have an 07 mustang with the shaker 500 and just installed a d3, sirius, bluetooth and ipod. the 4 6x8 speakers in the car are run off the head unit and the two door subs are run on a factory amp. just get the voltage reducer to avoid the turn on pop for the factory amps (i made my own), and wire them up as normal. just be sure to get the right harness with the audiophile plug and youll be good to go. easy install.

yeah the purpose of the vss is so the nav can accurately move through the map when the gps signal is lost like in a tunnel. that way it doesnt keep the map moving when you stop in a tunnel or something. its always good to hook it up. every car i work on i hook it up unless it cannot be done like a 2000 lincoln ls. all the other years of the LS has a vss except yr 2000 ones.

yeah thatll work fine for now. its a problem with the unit. just to double check, make sure the amp turn on lead from the aftermarket radio is powering off...just to narrow the problem down to the unit for sure. but definately try to contact whoever you bought the gmos-04 from to get the updated replacement

i installed a z1 in my bros 2000 explorer. same dash. i had to dremel the top and bottoms just like was shown in the pictures. only problem is that the top and bottom will fit since youre cutting, but the sides will have small gaps. i used the flat trim piece that comes with the d3 and cut the side pieces off and trimmed them to fit in the side gaps on an 03 superduty that i worked on. the radio opening is the same size so it should work for you. or if you want to do something easier, you can get some foam strips and spray paint them black and stick them in on the sides. it resembles black abs

probably a bad unit. metra has had lots of problems with them and there was a recall on them. the updated units have a date "06/07" on the front next to the bar code in the middle of the box. if yours doesnt say that then you need the updated one to fix the problems. it shouldnt drain like that.

yeah there is a recall from metra on these. anything made before 06/07 has all sorts of problems like you described.

not a lot of modification. just take the 8 speaker lead wires, cut them in half and wire in the parrot between them. the parrot has color coded wires (white, grey, purple, and green).

yeah my g/f had an 03 cavalier. i hated working on it. there is quite a bit to cut out back there.

yes it mutes the radio and then runs the sound through all 4 speakers. sound quality is good...i can understand everything like i have the earpiece on. the parrot wires inbetween the stereo wires. meaning they have to be cut and run through the parrot module...if you have a volkswagen then its a direct plug in b/c theyre VW plugs on it. i just cut them off and wired them into my f150.

it works great! i have the exact setup in my truck and love it. avic d2 with parrot 3200.

it can fit, however, the opening may have to be trimmed on the top and bottom. i installed the z1 in my bro's 2000 explorer and just had to shave down the top and bottom lips on the radio bezel. the econoline has the same size radio so youll have to do the same thing and mount it from behind the dash piece.

dont forget to check the cig lighter fuse. also the fuse for the interior lamps may be blown if your lights dont turn on when u open the door. there should be a cig lighter fuse or power point fuse somewhere...that sounds like your issue.

ha. ive had an n1, n2, a d1 and now a d2. i work car audio so warranties work wonders swapping things out haha....d1 and d2 have NO EXTERNAL BRAINS! only the flip out ones do. whoever on ebay saying that the d series have brains definately needs one for themselves

yeah, a couple of my friends that worked at the circuit city a block away sometimes got our customers and we got theirs...kinda funny when you stop them and tell them where they are.

i love these stories.....oh and about the cds behind the dash.....mitsubishis are pretty susceptiable for that as well. i had a lady do that and i pulled 11 cds out from behind her dash. she came in all pissed off because the cd player we installed last month keeps eating her cds...all 11....and wont eject any of them. i pop the dash piece off on her galant and theres a pile of cds on top of her radio and all over the place behind it. wow did she feel dumb.\ i also had these two blonde girls come in last year after christmas wanting to get her deck, 4 speakers and 4 channel amp installed.

i hear ya on that! i work at best buy and i run the bay. ive had people get mad because i got done with their car way before it was quoted. "so i paid 50 dollars for 30 minutes of work?!" idiots. haah but its great when/if a manger gets mad at ya. one got upset at me the other day and i said "ok ill go home, im really tired anyways, but ya better find someone to work on all these cars." convo was over haha oh yeah and i hate when customers keep trying to look over your shoulder and ask is it done yet? how much longer?

my dads 2000 lincoln ls does not have a vss wire. i searched everywhere and even went under the vehicle at the transmission where some people have found it. but to no avail, its a computer data signal and nothing that can be hooked up to the avic. some of the 2000 models have it and some dont. you may need a pulse generator for the vss.
