1. Well, I THINK what he said was that it's wired the same way as the Z1 bypass. He's gonna get back to me though... Would that also explain why the GPS location is all flakey?
2. Thanks... I did contact my installer and he was pretty sure he had wired it properly for bypass already, but he's going to check here (and online) later and get back to me... I've now read in the "official" thread that someone else had the issue too... I hope it's just a wiring issue...
3. Ok, you said you did the update and you reset your unit. First, is your unit a z2? Second, did you do the two wire bypass as well? If you did the two wire bypass yourself, did you make 100% sure that the wire you moved AND the connector were BOTH seated firmly and securely? That would be where I would look. The ONLY reason this bypass shouldnt work is if the ground is not applied. The software itself, if burned correctly, works perfectly. The thing that puzzles me is that whenever it goes out i reset the unit and then it is bypassed again for a while. would this just be a loose wire?
4. Maybe someone can help me out. Yesterday, I installed the software update as provided by Hyperite and it worked great. I did the reset (pressing little indented button) and after it rebooted I no longer got the brake warning and was able to use all the Z2's function while the car's moving. Today, after I was driving for about 20 minutes, I suddenly got the brake warning... and the bypass no longer works. I reset again, and it worked fine. Turned car off and parked. Later, started car back up and drove again... about 40 minutes later the brake warning came on and the bypass no longe
5. OMG - Method 2 could not have been easier, and thank GOD for a great installer who had already done the wiring for the bypass. I went through the update and it worked superb (though I was biting my nails there while it was in action). Hurray for bypass! and Hurray for Hyperite! A donation will be coming your way soon!
6. Talk about bad timing! LOL... I just had my Z2 installed a couple of weeks ago, and my serial number sticker on the box says "May" - ROFL I'll wait patiently for the more advanced to figure it out... and my installer is waiting patiently too!
7. Yeah, it's bizarre, right? You say "POI... McDonalds" and you end up with some strange CITY that starts with M as the result found. Don't know if you know it, but you can say "Vicinity Search... Gas Stations" instead of "Vicinity Search... Exxon"... after you say Vicinity Search you can say a specific POI name OR category. If you say a category, you then get an on-map "list" that you can go through by pressing the voice button and saying "next". Hope that helps ya. The voice commands are really important since we don't yet have a bypass!
8. So people without a yellow dot are shit out of luck? That seems kinda sucky, since the people who currently HAVE the radio are the ones bitching the loudest, no?
9. Has this yellow-dot thing been confirmed? I just had a Z2 installed and there's no dot on my box... not that I see...
10. LOL did you not read my reply right about yours?
11. Yeah, that's not it. I've been sure to do that. It is just not recognizing ANY POI name I say... but it recognizes lots of other voice commands easily. When I say a POI name (after saying "POI" and waiting for next prompt) it seems to want to return a CITY to me. It's very odd. On the positive side... I did find that "Vicinity Search" seems to cure this... (so maybe I'm using "POI" wrong?)... tonight I said "Vicinity Search"... (pause and it prompts for "POI Category")... I say "McDonalds" (pause)... and the closest McDonalds comes up without a problem. If I say "fast food" after being
12. See, that's the thing, I've been TRYING that and it's not working... Example... "POI (pause) Starbucks"... and the result I get is a CITY that sorta sounds like "Starbucks" (and might be in a totally different state). We've tried this with McDonalds, Burger King, Subway... even items we knew were on the map for sure. I know the voice commands are working because I can do everything else fairly easily... "av operation (pause) source (pause) XM" worked great today. "cancel" and "back" are easily recognized. "find address (pause) [city] (pause)" etc. worked well. But no matter
13. Okay, so I'm finding the voice commands work fairly well... But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to find a POI through voice commands... Can someone explain the process... (yes I read the manual, but either I'm not understanding it, or something isn't exactly right)
14. FYI - I have the Z2 and the iPhone pairs and works great for phone calls... it also auto connects now everytime. I cannot, however, transfer the phone book contacts... and that's a limitation of the iPhone at the moment, not the Z2.
15. Ya, I know there's a lot of scams out there... was just wondering if anyone decided to give it a try anyway... http://cgi.ebay.com/AVIC-Z2-VIDEO-BYPAS ... dZViewItem
16. Make sure bluetooth is turned on on the iPhone. It should detect the Pioneer. Then hold the "menu" button down on the Z1 (assuming it's the same as the Z2) to open the phone menu... hit "phone settings", then "register". On the iPhone, at that point, you should be prompted for the password. 1111 is the default. It should then pair.
17. The iPhone is amazing - I love it so far. I made a phone call this morning through the Z2 and it works good. Only thing I can't figure out is how to transfer contacts. When I do the "get bus cards" thing from the Z2 it tell me to send them from my phone, and I can't figure out how to do that. Don't know... I'm a bit afraid to try it, but I'm on the phone with Apple now (holding) to ask them about transferring the contacts and I'll ask them if it can hook up to the car adaptor.
18. ust to let anyone know... I was able to get it paired to the Z2 tonight... of course, I haven't tried a phone call yet because it's 12:49am and I might piss some people off calling them, but I thought I'd let you know that boths units at least saw each other and paired.
19. Just to let anyone know... I was able to get it paired to the Z2 tonight... of course, I haven't tried a phone call yet because it's 12:49am and I might piss some people off calling them, but I thought I'd let you know that boths units at least saw each other and paired.
20.
Does anyone know if the new iPhone works with the Z2? Thanks. :D
I hope to find out tomorrow! LOL Wish me luck!
21. Since you were all nice enough to reply... I decided on the Z2 and the installation was today... it isn't quite finished because the bluetooth unit didn't get to the shop on time, so tomorrow the installer will finish up. A few things... So far, I'm impressed with the shop that has done the install... there was no dash kit for my car available and what they built for me is amazing. He basically took apart my OEM nav system and made a face plate that makes the whole thing look OEM (other than the words "pioneer" at the top). He did an AWESOME job. He's confident he can do the b
22. this is what the guy on the other forum I go to said... So I thought I'd check it out before I make my final decision. I've had enough problems with the current system I have and don't want to end up with more problems after an expensive install
23. Okay, I've been researching double din nav head units for quite a while and had it narrowed down to the Alpine IVA-W205 and the Pioneer AVIC-Z2... today I decided on the Z2... and then (drum roll please...) I heard on another forum that there's been lots of problems with the Z2... I'm pulling an OEM Nav system out because it SUCKS (and doesn't have iPod support)... I don't want to end up with another system plagued with problems... So help a gal out... What ARE the problems with the Z2... are they serious? All units? Is the Z1 a better choice and why? The navigation system and
