  1. That is weird. Don't mean to be a pain, but I would guess the external amp. Have you tried hooking the avic up to just the speakers using the built in amp? It's a long shot cause what you explain has me baffled. But I would guess it's the external amp, not some weird functionality of the Avic. I could be wrong but it's what I would lean towards. Disconnecting the battery for 2 seconds or 10 minutes is the same as hitting the recessed button to the right of eject. Did you do a level 4 reset? I can't remember which one of those it was. I think "reset to factory defaults" sounds
  2. which version of win rar do you have? The latest? Might be time for an update. I have seen this when newer versions of win rar compress a file and an older version uncompresses it. Just a thought. Knowing Big Floppy, he is probably using the latest version.
  3. Put that disk into the Z2's drive and do the update. Then ground the 2 wires. http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html#newbypass whtcrxghst, normally I would never disagree with you. But he is having trouble downloading the iso from the pioneer web site, so downloading the 30 meg one from the sticky might also be problematic. And Pioneer is sending him a disk to fix the freeze issue he is having trouble with... this will also update the unit for the bypass with the 2 wires. So just wait till that CD from pioneer comes in and update your Z2 and then ground the 2 wires. Don't bother
  4. piomx5, that thread is just over a year old. If he isn't here any more... trust me. His number is correct. If you want to be very particular, that's an excellent resolution. I don't remember how he got it, but it wasn't playing around, he got it somewhere. And I would bet money he is dead on. You make an image that exact resolution, when displaying on the screen, it's perfect.

    HELP DB !!!

I'm not ignoring you, I just don't have any experience expanding the music partition and having it work and be useful. I don't rip that much music and I gave up. Sorry, I can't really help.

    HALO 3

Is it already "out"? I haven't looked for xbox stuff in ages, maybe I should
  7. It's going to take a complicated program to not only re-encode the mp3's into AT3's but then create the play list files and load them into the drive correctly. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10015 This was thought about back in early 2006 and so far no one has cracked the format, although rage2 says he is close.
  8. Unlocking the drive does let you put MP3's on to the hard drive. Actually you can put MS word docs on the hard drive as well. But the big thing which goes along with it.... you want to put MP3's on the hard drive and then have the library function list them so you can play them. That second part is the hard part. The library importing is kind of complicated to keep people from just transferring mp3's to the hard drive, (thanks RIAA!). It's going to take a complicated program to not only re-encode the mp3's into AT3's but then create the play list files and load them into the drive c
  9. PS, obviously neither of us have images or our stupid ramblings would have included a link.
  10. The number doesn't have to be the speed in MPH, but it should be a linear correlation. If you are going 14 mph and the VSS line says 28 (for instance) when you go 40 mph, it should say about 80. Or whatever. I have seen cars with VSS numbers in the 1000's. Some are close to MPH some are just double it. Depends on lots of factors. But the number should track the mph, the faster you go the higher you go and you can test 2 numbers, one at 20 mph and one at 40 mph and the VSS should be roughly 2x.
  11. All in the manual, appendix A I believe. 4 levels: 1, recessed button to the right of eject. 3 and 4 are hold map while the thing boots I think. You would want to check the manual and it will tell you how to do the reset and what gets wiped out.
  12. Yah, where did you hear about that? Not unless you can decompile someone elses code and edit it and understand the whole system with no help... unlocking the drive will not get rid of the other warnings. Unlocking the hard drive lets you add backgrounds to the stock backgrounds and edit the boot image and lets you make backups to your PC in case you want to tweak files and try to break something You can also update your Z1 to a Z2 with the right Z2 image files. Other than that, not much call for unlocking your hard drive.
  13. You don't have a warning about your parking brake not installed correctly when you power up the Avic do you?
  14. I think he was asking for an image of the files to load on something.
  15. What kind of car do you have? You might want a voltage regulator instead of just a resistor.
  16. "resetting" is the little recessed button to the right of eject. If the parking brake warning comes back, you did the "one wire bypass" which means you did not do both wires. Check wire #2.
  17. That's bad. From your earlier post about the line saying ok and the green antenna.... I think that means that the antenna is connected (could be just a check on the physical connector in the receptacle) but the end of the antenna is not seeing any sats. Is your antenna on the roof? If not just put it there for now. See if that changes. If so, then either there is something wrong with the antenna or more likely the wire broke or split or has a really bad kink in it breaking the wire from the antenna end to the connector.
  18. What about the GPS sat's? In the GPS antenna line, it should say OK and the antenna should be green, but to the right of that should be up to 8 sats and they should all be green (I think). Orange is iffy and gray is not connected or it can't see that sat. Without at least 4 sats in orange or even better 6 or 7 green, you are not seeing any satellites. Which means no map updating.
  19. Yah, if the map doesn't move there is a problem with the GPS signal. Either the antenna is in a poor location or is defective or unplugged. Technically you don't need the VSS wire corrected. I went months with mine not connected. Buf if you map doesn't move it's not getting a GPS signal. Does this only happen when you plan a route, or when driving around just any time and you view the map does the map "follow you"? Your position should update at least 2x a second or so. If it freezes for a while that seems to make me think that your GPS signal is dropping out at that time, or yes
  20. If you are talking about a voice to tell you where to turn, that's kind of automatic. There is nothing special to enable it when setting your route. If that's what you are looking for.... When you are looking at the map screen, there should be an icon which turns on and off the voice guidance (little square icon in a corner if memory serves), make sure you have that enabled there. Also check the volume settings to make sure the voice is loud enough to hear. And lastly you can just double check that the -DB during guidance is enough to hear it, put it to mute or -20db. If you wan
  21. Due to azhiroller posting this twice, I'm combining the posts and deleting the other one. that is incorrect, the vehicle dynamics are built in to the AVICs...
  22. If you plan a route, voice guidance will talk you through the route. The guide mode or route view have something to do with the icons or images on the screen. Something like it gives you the next turn as a large arrow and then lower and smaller is the turn after that. You always get voice directions. But normally it will just show you the next turn, those modes give you the turn after that. Something like that I think. I saw the difference but never really used them.
  23. Is it a resolution change or a color depth change? What resolution is your picture? Best thing to do it start with a sock picture resolution like the images built into the Z2 (500x240 if memory serves) and when editing the pictures (I like photoshop) do a "save for web" instead of a "save as" and it makes a very compliant jpg and the resolution is the stock native needed for the screen and it looks the same all the time no matter what. I have always done this (made my background and splash images based off the resolution of the stock images) and what I see on the PC is the same on boot a
  24. Possible you might need the VSS to get those options as well. They aren't really that spectacular of an add on. I had a time where I didn't have those.... but now I do. I also had a time where my vss wasn't hooked up and now it is. Not sure if that had any thing to do with it.
