lightsout
I am thinking about getting the blue tooth phone adapter for my Avic D3 this spring and am wondering were those of you that have it placed the mic? I want to make sure that it is not all that visible and don't want wires showing.
HiFiSi
Anywhere in front of the driver should be fine, as long as you can route the wire there. IIRC, it's a fairly sensitive microphone, so it doesn't have to be all that close to you. On the windshield side pillar, somewhere on the dashboard, maybe by the guages somewhere, up on the front of the headliner, it's really up to where you're willing to route the wire. lightsout
Ok well I'll take a good look to see where the best spot is for the cleanest install.
zinner
I have mine clipped to the headliner above the driver and it works great. I am not sure how you would mount the mic out of sight, it needs to be available for the driver to speak into. It is quite sensitive and pick up my voice fine.
knight20
I drilled a hole in my dash kit and mounted my mic on the left.
letterman52
That looks good, but drilling a hole on the dash trim. Pretty ballsy.
knight20
Oh yea, definately. I took thirty minutes just to drill that hole. Started out using a pocket knife to start it. Then I used a drill to widen the hole, stopping every ten seconds to make sure I didn't make it too big. But, I like it a lot and the people I call say that they can hear me fine. lightsout
That is a nice spot. Looks factory, with no wires showing.
oachalon
That is a smart idea. I wonder if I have enough room on the mounting bracket for my radio for the mic. If i can drill a hole in that then i wont be touching any of my factory pieces.
nilleo
i believe those lines on the midway point on the mic are for noise canceling.. from what i've been told you shouldn't cover those up, but if you say it works fine then by all means, power to ya
Yettavr6
How's this for factory look Overhead console from a Passat W8. I put the mic in the factory location behind that grated area. The holes on either side are "ambient light" red LED's (like BMW's and Audi's have)
RidinaZ
i ran mine up the side of the interior and it comes out and clips to the seatbelt holder. It seems to work fine(just installed it)

I can call and receive calls but the mic doesn't pic me up. Anyone have any ideas?
