KGuest84
I have an 06 Nissan Altima and I just installed the D3 with iPod and BT adapters and it all works great, but now my airbag light is flashing... Anyone know what could have caused this? Thanks in advance.
MisFit
you unplugged one of your airbag lights on the dash during installation, and turned the ignition on without plugging it back in. now you have to go to the dealrship to have it reset
BuffaloSS
Do you have an passenger airbag light on the dash that you disco'd? I do, and I got the Service Airbag during and after the install. Once I restarted the car it went away. Make sure all of your connections are good and then R&R the neg. cable and restart the car. Should clear the error. if not, you might have a problem. I've got a 2006 impala.
installermarc
With all new Nissans, if you unplug the airbag light and turn the key on, it will have a code stored in the computer that the dealership will need to turn off. GM was nice and used an auto reset feature so you don't have that problem.
MisFit
thats good to know. the only ones that i know of that are safe in that situation are the fords
installermarc
Or you could do like I did and pop for a Snap-on scan tool (or similar). Saved my staff's but so many times, it has already paid for itself. Only car's I can't do are the 08 models.
JLeach12
in the metra dash kit for the nissan titan and pathfinder that you replace the whole bezel, it tells youhow to reset the airbag light without goin to the dealer
firebirdude
For anyone reading this, this is not only with Nissans. It is common practice, when you disconnect an airbag switch because you're disassembling the dash, DO NOT cycle ignition. If you must, hold the dash piece up to the dash just enough to snap the airbag harness back into place. Proceed as needed. Will it trip an airbag light in EVERY car? I am positive it will NOT. But I doubt anyone has every car that's safe memorized....
BuffaloSS
Good info, firebird. I just R&R'd my D3 yesterday morning to install the XM and BT modules. I left the key out the entire time and when I put it all back together, no error.
crxxfactor
1. Put the key in the ignition. 2. Turn the key to "ON". 3. As soon as the airbag light (in the instrument cluster) turns off (after about 8 seconds), turn the ignition off. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for a total of 3 times, but don't remove the key from the ignition. 5. Turn the key to the on position - the airbag light blinks a code. 6. Turn the key off and then start the truck. works on the trucks may help u out//
