two totally different sets of pulses. the vss will stop pulsing when vehicle stops, the tach pulse(say coming from an injector pulse) will just slow down the pulses when the vehicle stops, making your navigation still thinking you are moving when you really aren't.

AVIC-D3 navigation VS. Garmin Nuvi 200W who's best?
32valvefox replied to it8ezbngrn's topic in General
i love my d3.... but navigation wise id rather have a garmin -
from what ive been able to gather... on the d3 the vss wire makes the gps more exact than just with the gps antenna itself, and it is supposed to keep the gps accurate when you are in a tunnel. if you dont hook vss up then the gps will still work... just not in tunnels

make sure your gps antenna is recieving enough satellites to allow your nav to function. if it is... then check your speed pulses... assuming that you hooked up your vss. Hooking up illum. wire could burn factory wiring?!
32valvefox replied to MTPG13's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
i dont think that the ill. wire would burn up a harness... it dims the factory radio doesnt it? and as for the gmos harness.. isnt the illumination wire turned on through data in the module? -
i second that notion!!!

by chance do you have an overhead screen? for some reason i remember there being an issue with installing an overhead in newer chevys and the domelight wire drains the battery.... or something like that. like i said im going off a vague memory.
