just installed 2 of a new batch of Z1's and was just informed from our product specialist that pioneer "fixed" the bypass. Just confirmed with one Z1 yestreday and one today with the ducatti boy circuit as well as the tr-7.
If anyone has any new info please post up!!
I had one installed by a dealer last Saturday, and the on/off light thing works...don't know how old the unit was, but he mentioned he's sold a few. If it helps it came with Gracenote CDDB 06-01-0010 which is older than what the update is on the Pioneer website which is 06-01-0020.

What is the software version of those units? Any possible way to find out? The current version most of us are running is 1.00000. Seems werid, Pioneer has had a bypass in every unit out there. Also there is no software update on the net yet. I suppose that they could have an update to stock ones before being able to update the ones in the field.

Hope this is a mistake. Mine might go for $2800 on ebay :)

Well if they are fixing this it's a software update. Check for the revision of the software. So far every one I know of is 1.0000, and flashing works on those. Also the fact that Pioneer told some installers to use TR7's to bypass the lockouts on the Z1. I would be surprised to hear that they removed that "feature".
just installed mine today and turning the lights off and on during boot didnt work for me either and I am at 1.00. I probably did it wrong though so I need to re read the bypass trick and I will let you know
Make sure the ill wire is connected correctly by turning on the vehicle, going to the nav screen and make sure turning the lights on puts the nav screen into night mode. If the screen doesn't change with your headlights then flashing the lights when you turn on car won't work. If the lights do put the unit into night mode, then you just need to work on your timing. Turn the car on, wait till you see "starting pioneer navigation" and when you do, turn the lights on, wait 3-4 seconds, and then you can leave them on or turn them off. That's all there is to it.

If you have software version 1.0000 then it should work, unless they updated the software and mistakenly left the version as 1.0000 (which I would highly doubt).

Hey, I think you missed the part about turning OFF the lights after that 3-4 seconds.

For me it works like this: Turn on the car/Turn on the lights/then turn OFF the lights just as the Pioneer logo appears or half a second before that once you get the nag of it.
Obviously, Ducatiboy's thingy is the better way to go.

There is another thread about new versions of Z1's and as far as we know, it's not true, the other thread is here:

As for flashing the lights. When you see the "Starting Pioneer Navigation" text screen, what ever the state of the lights are when you first see that screen has to change when you see that screen or just into when you see the pioneer boot logo. If the lights are on when you see that screen they need to turn off, if they are off they need to turn on. It only needs to see that one transition. Either way works.

There is no update on the Z1's and there will not be one for quite some time.

Duc's chip works great and if it don't... then most likelly it's an install problem and nothing else.

Please do us all a favor and stop spreading rumors about new versions or updates.

Find a better installer or try to install it yourself and it will work.

That's the best wording I've seen yet and I've just learned something new. :D
