wondering what is the ipod of choice to run with the D3, wanting to have video option, new to ipods and realy dont know what to buy, any help would be great

In all honesty, if you are spending the money on an iPod. I would go with a touch. 16gb or 32gb. Then you have an mp3 player with wifi that you can carry with you anytime. We have hot spots all over, might as well be able to check email and stuff from them.

What he said. $180 w/ shipping for an 80 gig that will play video through the CDI200 cable. Works great

All the new ipods will not play video over the ipod interface/cable. Get an old 5 or 5.5 gen ipod video. They sell them refurbished at the apple atore on their website.

If you are not interested in playing video can't you use any MP3 player with a mini plug and play it through the AV2 plug in on the front of the D3?

????

Yeah, but it's just not the same. With the ipod, you can plug it in to the back and toss it in the glove box or something and control it all from the D3. If it wasn't for that, everyone would be suggesting a cheap ass Sandisk mp3 player or somethin'...

If you want the newest iPod or iTouch you can use the APPLE composite cable with the rca ends but you have to give up the pioneer touch screen control and use AV1 or AV2 input.

Im sure someone will come out with an adapter to fix the pin out changes in the cables and the newer units.

ALL new ipods will not play video over the Pioneer interface. ALL of them. touch, classic, nano.

So that's the prob. My son and Wife both have new ones and neither play the videos only music. It was driving me crazy. It would play on the Ipod but noting would show up on the D3 screen. It would also throw a "error 11". Sucks. Anyone know of or working on a hack??
