kidynomite
So my xm antenna cord got cut in half, so I tried for the time being to strip the casing off and twist the wires together and tape it up, but the radio keeps flashing check antenna. Is there something I am missing, or a special way of reconnecting it. soldering would be the next step, but it doesnt work at all (however the traffic still works). impalacustom
They can be spliced and are very easy to do, I spliced my pioneer xm antenna to my factory gm xm antenna. Works perfect and has great reception. Here is a link how to do it, just make sure you get the ground (outsided mesh) good, that is probably why it isn't working now. http://www.xm411.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=4092
kidynomite
So i did all that but the radio is still showing check antenna. I tried unplugging the power and plugging it back in. I also tried hitting reset, but no luck. Is there another thing I need to do, or anything else that could be wrong?
kidynomite
Anyone have any clues. We have tried fixing this a couple times, once myself, and then a friend, and then took the cord to a cirtcuit city with that write up, still no luck. Is there anything else, or should I just shell out and buy a new antenna?
Julius
Since you are having such a hard time fixing the antenna I would go and buy another one. Here's a link: http://search.ebay.com/xm-antenna_W0QQf ... 9QQxpufuZx
todx
if you had a hard time reconnecting them just bring them to a radio installer. they will reconnect it for you and you probably won't have any problems.
big-fokker
...or just dish out the $20 and buy a new one...just my $.
jimmy 2 times
according to MECP, you shouldn't fix the antenna, you should replace it. Yes it can be done, but you are going to lose effectiveness of the antenna. Just buy a new one.
