Octo
Hi Guys- I'm back on the forum after a bit of an absence. I was registered with a different name before, but can't remember my login details. Anyway, I installed my D3 about a year ago and have enjoyed it. Recently, though, the rubber ring around the volume knob has come loose and spins freely without actually turning the volume knob. In order to change volume, I have to grasp or pinch the rubber ring on the volume knob firmly between my thumb and index finger and squeeze it together. Needless to say, it's a pain in the *ss to have to firmly pinch the volume knob every time I want to adjust the sound level. Anyone have a DIY way to fix this? I'm thinking of using some super glue to bond the rubber ring back to the metal volume knob, but am open to better ideas.
HiFiSi
You can either glue the rubber to the knob, remove the rubber completely, or buy a new knob. I don't think there's really any other options... that I can think of. You can get a new knob from Pioneer for $23 but it appears they are out of stock right now: http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.asp?productNum=CXC7160
Julius
Or buy a remote for the same price as the knob,I bought one for my Eclipse ASAP. http://electronics.pricegrabber.com/car ... /st=query/

whtcrxghst
Gently pry off the rubber sleeve, take a cuetip with a dab of alcohol and wipe down the inside of the rubber sleeve and around the knob. Problem solved
Octo
Great, that's exactly the info I was looking for. I'm going to try the alcohol cleaning method first and if that doesn't fix it, I'll use two dabs of glue as suggested. Worst case, I now know where I can order a new knob and/or a remote. Thanks!
